Riverine Warfighting - I'M ON A BOAT

Jow Forums, we need to talk: This board seriously lacks an affection for Brown Water Navy stuff.

Yeah, for most it's a Vietnam thing. But let's face it: It's as sexy as can be.

>Fast smoll boats
>tons of dakka
>several hundred square miles of rivers, swamps, creeks, canals and other waterways
>literally WW2 Normandy landing craft converted to carry a fucking Huey
>river monitors that would even look awesome in a Mad Max setting

Let's get a riverine warfare thread going! Post pics, greentext and other stuff about fighting bad people in sweltering heat and humidity

Let's start with a video

Pathetic

>howto start forest fires

Also, that's a pretty impressive demo of water ricochet.

A landing pad on a WW2 landing craft is a good idea!

Greentext time

Seriously dude, your vids kinda suck ass. Post some boats

>Guys
>GUYS
>Listen
>what if we took not one but TWO Ford 470 cubic inches Vee eights, slapped them into a 24 foot fiberglass hull, mounted a double water jet drive and tons of automatic weapons?
And thats how the LSSC became a thing

I'm showing you why boats are bad. Ever meet some dude that said "during vietnam I was on a river boat". You don't meet people like that because they were all killed.

Buyan-Ms are river boats too.

>why boats are bad
Get a load of admiral armchair here who's cleverer than lots of militaries round the globe who operate riverine forces
Guess what? Boats are the only means to control huge inland water areas. Can't do that with grunts and helos alone
Also: Thats exaclty the reason why even small boats carry tons of automatic weapons so they can hold their own during ambushs

I will when i get the chance later to day if thread is still alive

I'll keep it alive. Day/k/are sucks ass once again.

SWCC's are basically naval SEAL's but devoted specifically to riverine combat. I think that's dope.

Isn't this a screenshot from a video in which a fish flys up and smacks a SEAL dude in the fucking face?

No. However, that does exist. Also, it's a SWCC, not a SEAL. Completely different.

Great thread.

Against a heavily armed boat it's pretty pathetic. He'll manage to kill one guys before the others start blasting lead

Florida Everglades bros and Louisiana swamp people welcome

modern naval riverine forces are faggots
SWCC guys being the exception.
i mean ffs they have women on the teams
so much for standards . they certainly like to call themselves 'warriors' and other dumb shit like that tho
should hear about the US Navy's failed attempts at all female security teams for USNS vessels and such
complete breakdown in CoC, discipline. total failure. they made sure to bury those results deep

I fucking love the MKII PBR. It's my dream to own one and sail up and down the NC coast, since I live relatively close to the area where they were originally designed.

They would be fucking great to dick around in eastern NC.

A PBR would be the bee's knees for diddling in the Mississippi delta region. Shame they are so hard to find and expensive. Other boats don't do it for me

Definetly. And all them delta rats too

If we are going to have a riverine thread and you don't know who the pic related was then there's no point in hanging around.

>be British sailor in 1914
>war is declared, jolly good, time to give the hun wot for!
>why are we heading to Arabia?
>how did we end up in Baghdad?

I recommend to you all Tigris Gunboats by Wilfred Nunn. He was the senior Naval officer of the British and Commonwealth forces fighting along the Tigris & Euphrates, really showing the ability of brown water operations to provide vital gunfire and logistics support to land forces.

Brown Waters of Africa is also pretty interesting. The Portugese used brown water ops a lot in their Colonial counter-insurgencies.

I guess you could build something yourself?

Theyr not too expensive in the scope of boat things.

Someone has one parked up on the causeway in Elizabeth City NC everytime I drive by at a marina. Jelly levels are at maximum. Even has it decked out gun the gun mounts sans guns and the flag hanging proud.

Dude PBRs wrecked shit and were allowed to stick around in ambush situations after command realized they could hold their own and operated in minumum pairs of two. Also on of the fastest ways to advance your career in Vietnam and get a command.

Gun boats were an interesting product of their time. Because the British decided that certain rivers were International waters. Naturally, the actual countries that owned the rivers disagreed. Ergo gunboats.

>lmao look guys this is why boats are bad, I am totally not blogging about me being in Alaska!

Guy shot nut-to-butt packed transport paddleboats fighting current upstream. He'd get fucked by a patrol boat. Apples to door hinges.
