Ah yes the infamous Pussy Obliterator

WW2 stuffs upgraded to catch up with the ages were the best.
>Fixed wing sorties cross mid-flight with jets
>Assault guns go toe-to-toe with MBTs

how does this man shoot multiple rounds and not toss the rifle away while clutching his ears. how did we as a species decide that weapons which instantly hurts the user are the way to go

My fucking man! That’s my favorite part about the Cold War, all those wars where WW2 equipment got thrown into combat with top of the line comblock and NATO gear. My favorite is Yugoslavia since the territory defense forces often used a mix of ww2 German, American, and Soviet equipment with some more modern Slav shit thrown in there.

OP here, pic dump?

Any idea when was the last time the M3 Grease Gun was fired in combat by US soldiers?

I know people talk about how it was used in the Gulf War by tank crews except the Iraqi defenses basically crumbled before the hordes of screeching Abrams so I doubt those M3s ever did anything beside sit in the desert, gathering dust.

I dunno really, probably Desert Storm, and even then, doubt the crews had to fire their M3's, after that the m3s were phased out of service
Pic unrelated, is some dude's Bundeswehr grenadier collected kit

Those are Finns, so not strictly speaking Scandis, but whatever.

Here's two UN peacekeepers, one Swedish and the other Finnish, at Cyprus in the sixties.

Man can you imagine being a tanker or just anyone participating in the Gulf Wat

>be Marine/Soldier
>most likely grow up in the late 70s/early 80s
>most advanced piece of technology at home was probably a TV or a microwave
>idea of war probably comes from watching Combat!, Tour of Duty or old WWII epics
>enlist in time in the late 80s, just in time for desert shield
>1991: oh shit we’re invading Iraq, it’s fuckin go time
>witness technology you’ve never heard of before being used in combat
>GPS using fuckin satellites in SPACE to tell you where you are
>laser guided missiles from TOWs or Helos taking out Iraqi tanks before you even see them
>Watch a giant mini gun with a plane built around it rip Iraqi to shreds
>fuckin night vision goggles available to everyone, not just special forces
>tanks with infrared sights watching Iraqi tank shells fall helplessly out of range as you pick them off with SABOT and DU shells
>war ends before you can even fire you’re rifle
>get to witness the complete destruction caused by all this new technology

Man what a time it must’ve been to have be alive, I would’ve felt fuckin invincible guys

Shit think about the rural kids who fought in WW1. 17/16 year old kids who’s never been more than 15 miles from where he was born, who’s idea of modern is the fuckin steam powered 1hp ice cream maker, who probably still hadn’t driven a car, and who’s idea of a new gun was his dads 1873. All of a sudden he’s witnessing airplanes, machine guns, and fucking tanks at once. Shit had to be a wild feeling.

Faggy? Fagtor?

I've heard they used to stuff cotton in their ears during WW2, and maybe before, but I'm not when hearing protection became standard for militaries around the world.
It's also not as bad outside, usually, indoors will really fuck up your eardrums.

I heard Brits used AR 15s in Malaysia and SAS used A1s and A2s. But did they issue them to regular forces during the cold war years?
