It depends on your environment. Is your air support going to get shot at? Do you have an airfield nearby? There are so many variables that make one plane better than another that it's difficult to compare them.

It seems like these would be a great plane for civilians to get. I'd love an old ww2 fighter but obviously that is way out of the question but these are being produced new now and will surely eventually be on the open market if they aren't already.

The point of the Tucano is that a jet is way overkill against Jihadis whose most effective anti-air weapon is an AK-47. The Tucano is a cost-saving measure to limit pointless fuel and money expenditure.

Except it's far more expensive then a drone and the pilot is still by far the most expensive part of an attack aircraft.

Also, it's a turbine engine with operating cost comparable to a turbojet.

There's no room between drones and F-16s for these.
