The J-20 has superior frontal RCS in both northern and southern hemispheres that it can literally get within the firing distance needed by its internally carried super anti ship missile without getting detected by age old AEGIS system, fire munitions then leave.

Unlike the F-35 which has a very small internal carriage so it has to carry only 1 anti ship missile on its external pylon. Very easy target.

The J-20 was not the internal bays for a heavy anti-ground/sea load.

It's basically a deep strike/interceptor which can also turn without to bleed energy like a F-14.
