Stumbled upon this story of an Indonesian soldier deployed in a very remote area of Papua where cannibal tribes still exist. This is an english translation of the story.

>be on guard >bored af >took a thermal and look at jungle under the hill >saw 4 human figures below >ah might be villagers trying to find water >turns out all villagers are at home >wow this is interesting >keeps an eye on them >they passed through a huge rock >suddenly disappear >confusedscreeching.jpg >scans surrounding area, no hint at all >tells sgt in the morning >mfw he aint taking it seriously >it cant be soldiers from PNG as the border is 10 miles away and no way a 4 man team would walk that far in such dangerous jungle, and if they were dropped from a helo we mustve heard it coming >oh well nvm 2 weeks later >villagers reported cattles are missing >3 villagers are reported missing too >the whole village is on alert >SF guys took the initiative and went for a search >i mean if you guys ever heard of it kopassus are like bloodhounds in track searching so they know their shit for sure >they didnt come back for 5 days >not even a radio contact >on the 6th day gunshots were heard >sgt suspects it was separatists >half the squad is sent for aid >going innawoods >it was late in the afternoon so they gotta find them fast before sunset >2 hours, only spent cases found >confused.jpg >going deeper into the jungle away from the river >squad leader found SF gear full of blood >fuck.jpg >someone suddenly appears ahead of us >"GO BACK TO THE FUCKING VILLAGE! NOW! GET BACK!" >everyone form combat formation in case it was a separatist >turns out it was one of the SF guys lying on the ground barely alive >dude looks as if he was attacked by a beast >one ear missing and fingers on his left hand are gone >squad leader told the guy to calm down and checks him in case he was booby trapped by separatist >he keeps yelling like crazy telling them to turn back >all of a sudden the forest turns silent and cold >suddenly >glimpse of dim green lights appear around them >ffs the separatists have NVGs now? >could it be soldiers from PNG?

This story is just a hearsay, guy who told it did not specify exactly where the village is. I dont even know if this story is true but with cannibal tribes still exist at least few parts of the story might be true. Also a lot of crazy shit that happen in Papua often go unreported due to government censorship and stuff.

My great-uncle was a missionary priest in PNG from 1946-1951. He recorded a tape with his footage from that time. Bones in noses and the whole 9 yards. He said that cannibals were absolutely real, exorcisisms aren't a meme and that he saw things that would make peoples heads spin. Broke his back in 1951, got evacuated via horse. It's a fucked up place by most accounts.
