Essentially though, any upper will mate to any lower just fine and I would be surprised if you found an AR mag that didn't work on an AR. The only real brands to avoid are the chink companies on Amazon when it comes to optics and accessories. Do your own research for specific brands. Can't go wrong with extra mags and ammo.

According to arg anything sub 2k is shit but they’re dumb faggots. Do your own research on what you’re buying. Call manufacturers if you have specific questions. Lemme give an example.
Barrel to receiver extension fit is pretty important, if it’s loose then you’re not going to have the best accuracy. You preferably want the tightness to be so that you need to press fit the barrel into the upper. Different barrels and uppers have different specs for the OD and ID. This is the kinda info you want to call about if you’re building an upper or even buying one already built.

Also, as far as handguards go. Chink shit works just fine, might not look as good, might need some dremiling for screws(missalsogned barrel but screw holes) but for 20 bucks you can’t beat itt. Especially so for quad rails, if he likes that.
