Why do gun guys/guys innashop always have to use highly specified terminology for minor shit about guns?
>be me
>go innashop today, just looking
>casually ask the guy behind the counter what a good first AR optic would be
>"well, what's the mission?"
>mfw
Is this some kind of casual filter? The fact that weapons and weapon accessories have a specified name for every nook and cranny is my only pet peeve about gun culture. It's pure, uncut autism.
Why do gun guys/guys innashop always have to use highly specified terminology for minor shit about guns?
It's funny.
Is it too much to ask for them to speak English ffs? I shouldn't need a gun dictionary whenever I wanna buy things. I leave the minutia to the gunsmiths.
>this gun hobby thingy is too hard! big words should be handled by professionals!
nice blog post.

"Gee, I guess putting rounds in paper from 100 yards or so, something that would feel comfortable at the range and maybe for home defense but not set me back too far in the wallet"
Is it because you're too ashamed to say "I want to post it on instagram"
>my first AR optic
Trijicon ACOG
Outdated and pretty awful in all regards except durability.
It's pretty much the perfect no-thinking scope for this mouth breather and it's gucci enough.
oh, you mean like any hobby/profession/craft that people get into? Using words for specific things they are talking about? The "mission" thing was dumb to be fair.
It also has godawful eye relief making it very unintuitive for new shooters.
They make more than one ACOG. TA33 3x30 has really great eye relief. Not every ACOG is the TA31.
>2 inches of eye relief
It's fucking half that of a goddamn LPVO.
>not every ACOG is the ta31
But they should be.
The realistic usable eye relief on the TA33 is like 10 inches easy. Stop reading a spec sheet as gospel. If you've ever handled one, you'd know.
It was obviously a joke.
does that really matter with 5.56 though? .308 of course, but it's just 5.56.
How is it unintuitive? Put your eye behind the hole until you see stuff, then pull the trigger. If you're wearing safety glasses like you should be, it's not going to matter if you have poor recoil control.
>The realistic usable eye relief on the TA33 is like 10 inches easy
You're funny
>If you're wearing safety glasses like you should be
pfft
Note worried about them hitting themself, just the ergonomics of it. Uncomfortable for people with long arms and necks. Battle gnomes should have no issue
Hey, if you're a dumb nigger who never used one, your loss. Go have fun with your poortex.
interspersing random pseudomilitary jargon into conversation is the cringiest shit.
I’ve got 10 usable inches for u faggit
Why are you asking retail employees literally anything beyond "can you pull that out of the case for me"?
>mfw someone uses the phrase "sighting system"
Bro I’ll scuff you the fuck up
He asked that because he thought you looked like a pudgy LARPist faggot and wanted to see how you'd respond
Did you tell him you’re going for a high score?
Fucking this.
>OP skulks up to the counter in his ill-fitting Emerson Cryes and awkwardly starts rambling about his 16" PSA "M4 clone" build
>"casually" stutters out a question about good starting optic for an AR15, his palms becoming visibly sweaty like the stains on the pits of his shirt
>A wry smile spreads across the underpaid attendants face as he takes a second to size up the awkward overweight larper before him
>"Well chief, whats the mission?"
>OPs face notably twitches for some reason, but theres no indication he is kidding or self aware of his appearance
>Everything goes fine, attendant gives decent advice
>Turning to leave, OP mutters under his breathe that "Jow Forums will hear of this slight!"
He's asking what you want to do, but doing it terribly. He should be asking what kind of shooting do you expect do do. Do you want an optic for close range shooting, or longer range? Or maybe just what the Army uses?
If up close, you want a red dot. At longer range, a magnified optic. Army uses ACOG. If you want something all around, you want a low variable power optic.
"Good" costs money though. You need to do some research on your own to determine what it is you really want and not get ripped off for it.
10/10 would read your fanfics
>Turning to leave, OP mutters under his breathe that "Jow Forums will hear of this slight!"
OP here, you got me.
what?
sure it's less beginner friendly than traditional scopes but it also fulfills a completely separate role and is fuck-easy to use.
i am baffled anyone would struggle to use one.
