>dry fire several days a week
>mix in snap caps at the range to catch myself anticipating recoil

I'm not gonna make it

WHAT IS THIS?

Do not aim with your hand. He who aims with his hand has forgotten the face of his father. Aim with your eyes.

I was all over that thread and you need to study the fundamentals and apply them to your training. Check out the Sage Dynamics youtube channel, there's some great explanations and tips.

dry firing is dumb and gay, mixing in snap caps is even dumber and gayer
just shoot

> Hang paper plate at 3y
> Put 5 dots on plate
> Start at top, put 5 rounds right on top of each dot
> If bullet not on dot, then that's where your front sight was pointed
> Keep doing it until you see what the front sight is doing when you pull the trigger

Wanna know the truth? You're thinking too hard, champ.

1. Focus on the front sight post, not your target. Target should be blurry.

2. Lower your shoulders, don't tense up.

3. Breath normally. Don't worry about fancy breathing techniques.

4. Don't be a faggot who shoots weaver. Use isosceles. Watch Miculek.

5. Don't pull the trigger slowly. When you go too slow, you start to strain and anticipate. Just pull it sure and smooth.

>tldr get a red dot

Ultimate quads of truth. You heard him boys, no more dryfire.

New around these parts?

I cry your pardon, I have forgotten the face of my father. Thank you
To hell with your digits

>new age clean corporate retail gun stores
How does that work?
I've only encountered 4 types of FFL in my area:
1. Old LGS with all kinds of guns, from levers and single shot pistols to glocks and ARs
2. Tactical heavy stores, all kinds of semi auto rifles, AR parts(!!!), Sig/HK branding everywhere
3. Appointment only FFL ran out of a residential home, no display, but willing to order, transfer or ship out(!!!) anything
4. DICKS

Looks like a gun of some kind

>no Cabela's
>no Gander Mountain

Not him but there are a few places by me that could be called new age clean corporate places
>in an industrial park
>well lit, lots of space inside, super clean
>every gun clearly labeled in large print
>excessively friendly employees and lots of them
It's not half bad honestly

They get bundled with dicks, 5 gays and the rest

its basically thisbut with clean ranges and NFA support. The staff however are never helpful beyond "can you grab this out of the case" and "is this part of the sale"

I got it user

Really? You really felt the need to reply unironically to obvious bait? Really?

No but you seem to have never played a resident evil game.

should I get a pocket pistol or revolver for a comfy summer carry?

If you dont mind .380, the LCP II is comfy af. I can wear anything and still conceal it

The Wilson Combat ultrathin grips. Even if you have big hands they're a great addition.

I recommend a clip grip j frame

There are concealed carry gunbelts dipshit. You would know this if you actually took cc seriously instead of asking what shitty pocket piece to shove in your shorts.

Priorities, user.

I hate you, give p30l and vageen pls

You can't mill the slide on cz97s, it's not wide enough. Dovetail is the only option.

5 per gun, and each numbered to watch for malfunctions.

Primary Machine advertises the service, are you sure it's not possible?

My local gunsmith said it wasn't possible, but he may have just not been able to do it. If I have an issue with the Springer mount I can always go back through and have it milled later, but since this isn't a carry gun I'm not super worried about it.

This but just marked if there are malfunctions.

Should've won the the MHS competition.

Work on that grip and trigger control. Had a hula hoop size groupings at 30 feet when I first started l, my grip was complete shit. I'm at tennis ball grouping at 30 now. Ronin has some good advice. Watch miculek shooting too.

Why literally none of the entries fit the fucking request except for SIG. It's almost like the companies didn't read the explicit and direct things the government wanted.

Need an opinion

Giving my Security 9 to my dad as a present for moving out of NJ, im trying to decide between getting a PPQ or P10-C. Ive shot and loved the PPQ before both in 9mm and .45, haven't shot the P10. I have big enough hands that when holding the Security 9 my pinky is fully off the grip with the mag inserted so id like something i can hold comfortably

CONCERNS
I live in Florida so i need to cc during endless humid summer
I keep hearing something about not carrying striker fireds in hot weather. Is that a meme?
Which has the better aftermarket/warranty?
I live about 3 miles from and work directly on the coast, are ocean winds going to fuck up my gun?
Do i just say fuck both and get a Witness 10mm?

Any help is appreciated, thanks

That's the one I wanted honestly but they were too expensive until after I got an M2.0 Compact

What's wrong with it? It's not like they turn on by themselves. If you really wanted to you could make a replacement cup that still allows takedown but which doesn't rotate to lock.

>It's almost like the companies didn't read the explicit and direct things the government wanted.
What are you talkin' bout? "Modular" doesn't have to me the whole grip comes off, it just called for different size grips which interchangeable backstraps do without being costly or wasteful, a rail for lasers and lights, and different size magazines. There was no explicit directive to have entire frames come off afaik. Was there?

Ironically the M9A1 already did those things since it had removable grip panels (the M9A3 did better here), a rail, and 15, 17, 18, 20 and 30 round magazines from the factory.

How about Walther should have entered the Q5 Match Steel Frame into MHS trials? It checks all the boxes.

>not carrying striker fired in hot weather
It's so all the sweat from your folds doesn't flood the striker channel on your VP9.

The spec specifically requested the ability to change the frame size/caliber as well. My belief is that the Army will be evaluating a new handgun caliber in tandum with using their existing 9mm stores. Once they've used up their stock they'll switch to the new round.

You ever try out the Rex Alpha?

held a hipoint and a tokarev at the lgs. the hipoint doesnt feel bad like everyone says but its like a fucking brick. tokarev was really weird though. odd feeling gun, i dont like it.

Kinda upset for the lack of benis and feet. Nice choice is gun though.

lol
It's not bad for my first handgun and early birthmas present

I looked and can't actually find the original Army requirements for MHS just clickbait summaries, can you post a link? I wanna read!

>I keep hearing something about not carrying striker fireds in hot weather. Is that a meme?
That's such a meme that I've never heard of it! Is that supposed to be a joke about the VP9 coming into contact with water and blowing up?

Aftermarket, imo, is irrelevant in almost every context. If the gun doesn't meet your requirements from the factory, look at something else imo.

Walther definitely has the better warranty as it's "lifetime" and does not limit to the original owner where CZ is 5 years.

Salt spray/air, idk, I would assume that most anything with a standard QPQ/nitride finish would be about the same in that regard. Roll pins will likely be the first thing to rust on any gun, so watch the pins and when you start to see rust, strip, clean and oil the whole gun.

Go rent a P10C and see how you like it compared to the PPQ, or at least handle one in a shop. Neither should drop your pinky. Since Walther is (apparently) putting ground single action levers in new PPQs, the P10C is likely to have the better trigger. The P10C definitely has a more aggressive grip as well, which you might appreciate on sweaty days. And the P10C at $370 is definitely cheaper as well. Both guns have lots of sights available.

Not the Alpha nope, looks like a neat gun though! Kind of like a Legion version of the Zero 1.

Are you looking for surplus specifically or just an inexpensive gat? If the latter, consider the Taurus G2C!

Attached: ppqs.jpg (2400x1600, 864K)

>Are you looking for surplus specifically or just an inexpensive gat? If the latter, consider the Taurus G2C!
nothing specific. was there to pick up my m2.0. almost impossible to got to a gunstore and not touch anything. also he had an older ruger that i really liked, p series and almost all metal, forgot what the exact model is though.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XM17_Modular_Handgun_System_competition
> The MHS requirement called for a non-caliber specific weapon with modular features to allow for the adaption of different fire control devices, pistol grips, and alternate magazine options. The weapon will fit various hand sizes and will mount targeting enablers using Picatinny rails. The new weapon will incorporate detection avoidance by having a non-reflective neutral color and will be operable with a suppressor in place

>Owing to the poor reception of the 9mm NATO cartridge in combat zones like Iraq and Afghanistan, the program was an open-caliber competition to evaluate larger rounds like the .40 S&W and .45 ACP or more powerful rounds like the .357 SIG or FN 5.7×28mm.

In all honesty while I love the M9 and think it's a great gun, and most of the pistols submitted were perfectly fine (except the 19x Glock is full of retards and their salt that their retard baby didn't get picked fuels me everyday), the SiG was really the only serious candidate. The ability for the Army to get frames and still use the same parts line is a supply line wet dream. ESPECIALLY as they noted multiple times that they were consider a different caliber. More importantly this is great for the all branch adoption (even in different calibers the vast majority of the internals can be reused and servicing is much easier for it). The truth is the SIG fits the bill because they put forth a gun that was developed around the idea of reusing and that's what the Pentagon wants. It's incredibly similar to the current reqs that are out for a new rifle caliber. Plus unlock most of the strikers submitted it comes with a safety which the Army ALWAYS wants.

>.357 SIG
If the military switches handguns to .357 sig I'll live stream me eating my own dick.

Jerry is a super-boomer but goddamn I want this gun

Attached: 5906uwu.jpg (660x371, 34K)

I sincerely doubt they'll ever fully switch, but the ability to swap a caliber for certain units and maintain compatibility and training is huge. Also I am very much in the belief that the Army is finally realizing that drop in parts are the future. Consider that Steyr realized this years ago and when they made the AUG developed a gun that could have all it's components replaced with drop in parts. Imagine having a supply chain this beautifully simple and easy to replace.

Attached: AUG_A3_USA_NATO_parts.jpg (1600x920, 359K)

Now does this look familiar?

Attached: Sig-p320-45-acp-18.jpg (900x928, 197K)

Looks like it goes on to say
>Small, medium, and large polymer grip modules accommodate different hand sizes.
I don't think "pistol grips" means the ENTIRE grip, but the grip size as changed by whatever means, be it replaceable frames, replaceable backstraps, or replaceable grips (a la 2011, which is basically what Detonics submitted as the STX).

It seems silly to make manufacturers all use Sig/Steyr's system when they each already have methods of increasing or reducing grip diameter for "different hand sizes" as defined.

In any case the Army didn't seem to think all the other manufacturers submissions were invalid because they didn't have fully interchangeable frames. All the guns submitted would have shared parts between their compact M18 and full size M17 counterparts. Also the Beretta APX has a fully removable frame as well so Sig wasn't the only one and that wasn't the reason Sig was picked. Also also all of the MHS submissions had safeties so that also isn't why.

Those Ruger Ps are pretty rad!

Attached: AP-5.jpg (1065x957, 407K)

Once. I got the compact with a tlr1 on it for my daily carry. Gonna get full size for a battle belt later.

Attached: 20190604_130903.jpg (4032x3024, 3.64M)

I don't disagree, but it's clear they want a handgun that is adaptable and while backstraps/grips are nice that doesn't really help with hand size nor with different units needs for different things. Consider that most women still have trouble shooting M9s and what a proper sized handgun can do. The contract wasn't explicit, but that's what made the SIG stand out. They put forth a gun that was more than a simple improvement it was truly "modular" and that got the Pentagon very excited. With that modularity came a lot of ancillary benefits that the other handguns did not have so when they went back to back on the simpler qualifications (malfunctions, accuracy tests, etc) the SIG really stood out.

Once=once.

>Those Ruger Ps are pretty rad!
feels great in hand. apparently its what local police use to carry.
my first handgun so i wanted a fullsize. going to apply for cc on friday. not sure what im going to get for conceal.

For sure. Stupid simple to replace any part.

I did the opposite when I got my first handgun. I got a glock 26, though it was great for conceal, in the end I wish I went with the G19 instead. Felt goofy to be walking around with a sub pistol, yet have a compact 15 round mag in it, shooting it with the flush 10 didn't feel good because of the glock hump too.

>Also the Beretta APX has a fully removable frame as well so Sig wasn't the only one and that wasn't the reason Sig was picked.
I own an APX, and trying to swap frames is a bitch-and-a-half. By contrast, SIG's method on the P320 is much simpler, which is something to consider when you're dealing with retarded Army armorers and even more retarded grunts.

>half inch groupings at 8 yards
How'd I do, /hg/?

Post paper. Also how many shots.

it works for me

Fuck burt. Fat fuck never shoots.

Any gun with an semblence of a finish will be fine. DO NOT FALL FOR THE SUMMER CARRY MEME. You can carry a p10 and a reload year round and don't let any of these pencil dicks tell you different.

Ooh! What's stuck in your craw, gremlin? Can I help?

Better than me, but that's no surprise. But how consistently?

absofuckinglutely disgusting

Can you idiots stop with the revolver for frail women meme. You're going to get her killed when she finds out she can't pull the 15lb trigger and aim at jamal simultaneously.

Wow, Miculek really helped. Reminded me to do things I knew I should have been doing
>ex: it's okay to wrap you support hand around the trigger guard of a Glock to mitigate muzzle rise.

It was interesting talking to both of the companies. The American one split off from the Israeli one, thats why the American CAA CEO is Jewish. Both claim the other makes a bad product, the Israelis say the American is shit for having no trigger guard, the Americans say the Israeli is shit for overall fit and finish/lockup; also there is apparently still dispute over copyright or trademark status on the part of the American group, but its muddied by the fact that both groups probably helped develop the original.

Twas a moot point as I wanted one for a Gen 4 glock 20 and the Israelis dont do that (dont think they do 10mm at all). Still, although this sounds succinct, it took a week of email menage a trois to pry this information out of them in a straight manner. Couple of Yiddish competitors playing fast and loose with consumer info, surmise my surprise.

Actually feels excellent, cant wait to try it.

Just picked up the pistol today, gonna have to order some more goodies, extendo mags, larger slide release, and perhaps some sort of trigger all on the list, then gotta think about some kind of sight and weapon light system. They have a in-weapon option but I dont know about it, just that it was part of some meme ass 250 dollar "upgrade" I didnt want.
