At range

>at range
>set target to 7 yards
>shoot one big ragged hole hole with 15 rounds of 9mm
>guy next to me asks “do you shoot competition?”

This is a true story. Why are people such bad shots? Even at 5 yards most people can’t seem to manage a fist size group.

Because most people don't bother to read about shooting technique before going to the range, thinking they learned everything they need to know from movies and videogames.
I'm legally blind and I outshoot most people...

People are fucking idiots that's why. They have no curiosity and make no effort to improve their shot. They don't ask "why am I innacurate" and simply keep pumping rounds down range.

Have you not been paying attention to the anime industry right now?
There are shows from fucking 20 years ago getting renewed in one way or another.

>he thinks all hobbyists are going after muh AcCuRacY

You can never miss fast enough to win a gun fight, bud.

>set target to 7 yards

Why the fuck would you shoot that close anyway, you prancing faggot?
I've never seen anyone shoot static targets that close, except americunts.

Found the nogunz

Typical range you might shoot a nigger

7 yards is further than the average defensive shooting, FYI.
Typical defensive firearm uses, when shots are actually fired, are within 3 yards, 3 shots fired in 3 seconds.

Seven yards is average range for defensive use of a handgun.

For defensive shooting it’s a good range to practice because you want to emphasize speed and defensive pistols have terrible sights

>7 yards is further than the average defensive shooting, FYI.

You can literally shoot 7 yards blindfolded if you're properly squared to the target. Hell, it's one of the ways to check if your stance is worth anything. Shoot blind. If you shoot to the side, it means your stance is unnatural and you're fighting your own body with each shot. You need to adapt your stance to not fight your body mechanics..

Either way, your accuracy goes down during any stressful event. You are not stressed at the range.
Train to a higher standard. You should be able to shoot accurately up to 10 meters by simply point shooting and not even aiming?

I'd strongly suggest you practice your defensive shooting with a human sized target at 15 yards. There's no reason why you shouldn't be able to make quick consecutive hits from concealed at that distance.
7 yards may be ok with a letter sized target, but even then, meh...

Most people at a gun range probably go a few times a year, if that, and have never been taught proper technique. The first time they shot they just pick up the gun and pull the trigger and just keep on shooting that way, developing terrible habits

when I took my CC class, we went in two groups and people from the second group were watching me with one guy recording on his phone because they hadnt seen someone group so well. It made me feel good talking with them later. Im above average but Im not a match shooter.
I think the problem is that no one ever googles form and just tries to freestyle it. When i taught my friends to shoot they were closing in on my skill level pretty quickly after several trips and after just the 2nd trip could outshoot 90% of the people at public ranges.

do you shoot competition? Do you though?

I shoot like a competition shooter apparently

NOBODY CARES ABOUT THE AVERAGE. TELL ME WHAT THE MEDIAN SHOOTING DISTANCE IS. AVERAGE IS DOGSHIT

IF THERE EXISTS A SET OF 50 SHOOTINGS TO DRAW AN AVERAGE DISTANCE FROM,
CONSIDER THAT 40 OF THESE SHOOTINGS ARE SUICIDES OF 0 FEET
AND THE OTHER 10 SHOOTINGS ARE 35 YARD SHOTS

THE AVERAGE SHOOTING DISTANCE IS NOW 7 YARDS, AND THIS IS A WORTHLESS FIGURE, BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT A PRACTICAL EXPLANATION FOR THE SUMMATION OF THE SETS OF SHOOTINGS

AVERAGES ARE FOR SMOOTHSKINNED BRAINLETS WITH MINIMAL TO NO SURFACE AREA

I meant average as in "typical," not the mathematical sense, you fuckin' sperg. I fully understand that the nigger penis statistic is probably skewed by one African family with 3 generations of sons with cocks tucked into their sandals.

daddy chill

7 yards 1 hole is pretty good tbqh senpai

If you don't like the info you've been given, take it up with the FBI, since most of this comes from them.
Either way, chill.

Calling bull shit and youve never shot a gun in your life

Boy oh boy.. Do I ever wanna to spew a hot creamy white load on Ichiroku's face and make her clean my cock with her tongue.

Ah yes, the old 'skip all the point in-between" attempt.

I see folks at the local range shoot pistols. 25yrds (where the benches are) and not even hit paper. How will they learn that way? I even had a dude say ' it's the hardest so we need to practice for it" when i suggested that he move closer, since it was just the 5 of us there. Bottom line, practice at your skill level and push out your comfort zone, but do it in a way that's teaching you something.

Handguns are hard m8. I dry fire at home and shit is perfect, no movement, sights perfectly aligned. Then I go to the range and can maybe get everything in the black at 7 yds.

Oh, was one of them upotte?

I will bet 1 cum brownie that you are too relaxed with your hand pressure at home and you are tensing when you live fire.

I'm sure I am holding the gun a lot tighter when live firing, dont know if I should try holding it lighter when I live fire, or practice more with a death grip.

Don't make it until the manga is done, then we might get a full adaptation.

Deathgrip is a great way to get shaky and tire out faster. You can hold tight without going full white knuckle, my guy. Firm but gentle.

No that's be too good. The new gundam is pretty Jow Forumsino though. Should be called çGundam - the Backstab" though.

99% of gun owners (and the populace in general) are retarded. It's a miracle they remember to breathe. Before UBCs passed in Washington I charged boomers $50/hr to put their ARs together because, "it's too complicated, I need a gunsmith for that,"

People are bad shots because they don't shoot enough.

Who gives a shit about defensive shooting? Offensive shooting is what you want to be good at. The best defense is a good offense.

They are not winning anything out of anything though. So why would groupings even matter?

my waifu galil chan so cute

I know. My heart melts every time I think of her. I'd love to save her from the goyum.

you're a fag and the median cant be much different
no one's defensively blasting someone with a handgun from a mile away

How do I stay calm while pulling the trigger? When I pull it I'm slow and steady at first but slightly before I get to the firing point I start pulling like a monkey.

Any continuous distribution(distance, being all non-negative real numbers, should continuous), when taking a sufficiently large number of samples(usually more than 30+), can be modeled as a normal distribution Y with average nMu and std nPhi^2. Standard Distributions the median and the mean(average) are the same. If 7 ft is the mean of this distribution then 50% happen less than 7 ft and 50% more, by the definition of median. Furthermore we know that 68% of the values are within 1 standard deviation(still an unknown) of 7ft and 95 within 2 standard deviations of it. Now if we had more information or I was less tired we could work out the standard deviation likely but FUCK IT.

Instead I think we would all agree that the standard deviation must be some number between 0 and 7 as must 2 times the STD. Therefore let us take the worst case scenario of 2xSTD being 7 IE 95% of self-defense scenarios take place between 0(infinitely close) and 14 ft. Since it's a normal distribution it's equal on both sides so therefore 2.5% of Self defense shootings take place at 14+feet. Now remember this is a "worst case scenario" so that's more like an estimated maximum so in reality there are likely even less.

tldr: Based on Probability and maths at most 95% of self defense shootings take place between 0 and 14 feet(4.62m) and 2.5% at 14+. Though the 7ft average was admittedly hearsay

I agree, I'm calling bullshit on this whole thread.
>Googling proper form
I've watched videos, read manuals both modern and classic sportsmansvintagepress.com/read-free/shooting-table-contents/
I've gotten hand on instruction from the staff at multiple ranges, and you know when I shoot best? When I ignore all of that shit and just do what comes naturally.
>15 rounds in one ragged hole "user...are you professional?"
Larp more. Did everyone clap? Did you become friends with the cop and now you guys are range buddies?
Here's the thing, I'm a new shooter. I know I'm above average skill because I was the only one in my ccw class to qualify on the first try. Even so I shoot like crap because I haven't had years and hundreds of dollars in ammo to practice. My groups are slowly tightening over months of practice, but I have other things to spend money on.
You want to post helpful advice, advice I wish I had heard before buying my first gun? Tell people to buy a .22lr pistol to start because it's so much cheaper to practice with. But something like that wouldn't occur to bait noguns larping faggots. Just my 15 rounds of 9mm with no flyers.

I've wasted a couple hundred dollars in ammo before I realized this. Tighten up your groups at close ranges before going for long range. It's the same MOA either way, but it's much easier to work on your fundamentals when you can see the holes clearly.
