I need the truth

Why are the U.S Marines considered 'superior' to other branches of the service? why do they think they are the best most of the time they act arrogant. My friend who just graduated out of highschool and bootcamp keeps telling me that he's a trained killer. Is this propaganda or is it actually real?

Baseless propaganda.

40% Hype 50% Training standards 10% Oohrah debbildawg.

Lmao they don't teach you shit in bootcamp, he got the most basic rifle training ever, anyone could teach it to you in a weekend. He won't start learning fighting tactics until he's in school of infantry.

They were meant to be the military's quick reaction force.

They aren’t really considered superior honestly, but they hype themselves up with legacy, cool aesthetics, and they do have more stringent physical requirements than the other branches. During my time in the army I’ve met just as many shit bag soldiers as a I have members of other branches, and the same with the number of exceptional service members. It doesn’t really matter what branch you go into, how superior of a performer you are comes down to who you are individually.

It's because its 100% true. The Unit-

>My friend who just graduated out of highschool and bootcamp keeps telling me that he's a trained killer

Lmfao

this is a psyche thing, like how pavlov's dogs were trained to run under tanks.

in a similar sense, marines are trained to view themselves as the most superior fighting force to give them confidence as shock troops, even in the face of immense firepower.

They are more infantry focused so they have to assume they are better infantry. Otherwise they'd just be Army men without as much cool shit.

They hype them up like that so they can fuck them over repeatedly and they don't all quit and join the army.

Think of the Marines as a university for killing. The army is like boy scouts summer camp.

What the fuck do you think they teach you at bootcamp? He’s a trained killer while you are basically fucking stupid, join the USMC and find out the easy trick that can make you into a trained killer.

The mareens are all about the propaganda. Krulak said it himself: America doesn't need the mareens, but it wants them - so as long as they keep their propaganda strong, their bureaucracy will endure.

is your friend a reservist by chance?
marine reservists always talk about how cool they are when given the chance. it's annoying.
marines just have good propaganda and hype up their newly made recruits so when they go home on 10 day leave they blab about how tough it was.
for many, bootcamp is the toughest thing they've ever done. they're just being bootfucks.

Their boot really is the hardest, they are super squared away in comparison to the other branches, they have a higher ratio of combat to support personnel, and they have the sexiest dress uniform. That's about it.

>he thinks soi is worth a shit
check out this fucking boot

I never said it was super good training, all I said was that you don't learn fighting tactics until SOI

Lmao no, you don't get taught how to be a badass in bootcamp. It's not as cool as you think it is.

you're very wrong. recruits learn tan belt techniques before graduating bootcamp. tan belt warriors are not to be trifled with.

>tfw your average range LARPer i.e. me is more capable than 90% of marines
Do a power/endurance sport (cross country, crew, backpacking, lifting, etc), go shoot often, and read books (history, biography, philosophy), you will be a more competent man than 90% of men in the military at any level.

Attached: 1532148570696.jpg (620x464, 40K)

more capable at what?
your "average range larper" cant even shoot groups and has never shot a target beyond 300yds.
not saying 90% of marines are hot shit, just that they've at least had some experience with things your average range larper doesn't even consider.

that said, most people who work on their shooting on their own time and dime will shoot better than most marines and military personnel in general.

Only thing I may disagree with you on is that an infantry Marine will have a better understanding of small unit tactics and putting them into action than most. Which is a very very important skillset

You also can't understate the value of heavily-ingrained discipline and unit cohesion in a firefight.

riflemen.
riflemen, riflemen, riflemen.
riflemen riflemen, riflemen riflemen riflemen.
riflemen.

It is true, even European forces that do war games and such with the US military say they're the only good US soldiers.

It's probably because the people going into the marines actually want to fight as opposed to those joining the army/navy/airforce. I'd bet there's a lot more white marines too but idk could be completely wrong

No he's active duty but his MOS is Food service specialist (3381)

>I am a TRAINED CHICKEN FRYER

>food service specialist
>"I'M A TRAINED KILLER TOO, THOUGH"
Only in the Marines.

PR is necessary for them to get funds and relevance. They've been doing this since WW1.

>Why are the U.S Marines considered 'superior' to other branches of the service?
Marines were supposed to be the US military's shock troops especially for amphibious assaults. This started to lose its purpose with the advent for Airborne troops.

Attached: AC-235 light gunship.jpg (1800x1060, 1.3M)

Oh, lawdy. 0311 here; I have never met a Marine with his head more up his own ass than I did when I met the fucking Sergeant who was assigned over the Marines working the kitchens on the Dubuque. It's like they know other Marines don't respect them, especially grunts, and they try and make up for it by acting hard-ass.

>and they do have more stringent physical requirements than the other branches
Check jocko's podcast, physically marines>seals.

Try as I might, I cannot find anything that the USMC cover in basic or trade training that isn't covered elsewhere.

>training that isn't covered elsewhere.
Amphibious assaults. And I think it's the level they do it at.

I'm not going to go down the line of "when was the last time they did that?" because there's loads of things people practice for that they will likely never do, but I'm struggling to think of an instance where the US would carry out an amphibious assault with a USMC force as the main effort then leave it at that.

There isn't a piece of land on planet earth that the US Army couldn't get a manoeuvre force onto.

>Tfw back in the day when I was a Lance Coolie 03, I called a female Sgt a "fookin' wook pog" at a bar when she claimed she went through ITB mortar school. I also spent the night chewing on a cigarette and fell out of my chair.

This is what Jow Forumsommandos really believe

Yep, you're better than everyone else.

>My friend who just graduated out of highschool and bootcamp keeps telling me that he's a trained killer
>Is this propaganda?
Yes.
>is it actually real?
Also yes.

Marines are infantry. Infantry operate in units and kill with their hands. People talk about high tech blah blah blah, but your basic bitch M240 and 81mm mortar are some of the deadliest and most effective weapons in the US arsenal. Therefore, having a reserve of skilled and devoted shock troops that are willing to run into the face of the enemy and use these weapons is strategically valuable. Marines are those shock troops, and they are trained as such in a way that Army infantry is simply not.

The CIA will also tell you that morale, commitment, and cohesion contribute immensely to the efficacy of an infantry unit. Marines have this at the basic enlisted level. You dont see that level of cohesion in other branches until you get higher up. That's in part due to the propaganda and culture surrounding the role of the Marine.

In other words, yeah it's kinda bullshit, but that bullshit actually ends up having a real, measurable difference in a very specific role.

>Marines are those shock troops, and they are trained as such in a way that Army infantry is simply not.
I keep seeing them called "shock troops", but do their manuals really differ?

>but do their manuals really differ?
not anymore they don't, but when they were first formed they did

>There isn't a piece of land on planet earth that the US Army couldn't get a manoeuvre force onto.
At the end of the day, Marines are just the Navy's infantry force.

Uhmm for the record, theres like thousands of manuals that each branch has for every bullshit little detail so they do in fact differ.

Marines are owned by the navy though and like to ride around on ships, land somewhere and train with that countries military. Army doesnt like boats as much.

>Uhmm for the record, theres like thousands of manuals that each branch has for every bullshit little detail so they do in fact differ.
So you don't know what you're talking about

How much do yiu wanna bet that I can pull up 100 orders right now that each only affect 1 branch?

im open ears. it has to justify your statement of:
>devoted shock troops that are willing to run into the face of the enemy and use these weapons is strategically valuable. Marines are those shock troops, and they are trained as such in a way that Army infantry is simply not.

>My friend who just graduated out of highschool and bootcamp
>U.S Marines

Joins cult. Becomes brainwashed. Looses friends. Leaves cult. Marries ex prostitute. Becomes alcoholic.Divorces. Sucks a bullet.

to add, im just confused because every army manual i've read said the mission of the infantry is to "close with and destroy the enemy" or something of that nature. which doesn't really differ from what you said about the marines. ill check back later

I joined the Marines to learn how to fight and all I got was how to drill

A shock trooper is just a colloquialism for a specific infantry role.

Essentially, a shock trooper is just an infantryman used carry out direct assaults to break enemy lines/fortifications/formations, etc. That role by nature results in heavier casualties than other roles. Hence shock infantry are are better at their role if they have a culture that fosters bloodlust, machismo, elistist belonging, and patriotism to maintain morale, to create a unit that wont break after suffering casualties, and to create individual soldier willing to dive back in for more even after seeing the outcome of the first assault.

Again, by virtue of their role not necissarily anything special about the training/equpment/etc, shock troops typically have more combat experience under worse conditions than their peers in other roles, which is an asset that can result in units with a much higher average skill level than an the typical infantry unit.

But if you're just looking at a boot like OP's pal, there is no real difference other than culture.

did you expect only dinossaurs like you to post here for the rest of eternity?
anyway,i'm actually curious about what the fuck they gonna do about that upcoming space force.

I expected 4chin to close down before they started posted.

>Why are the U.S Marines considered 'superior' to other branches of the service?
They arent

>why do they think they are the best most of the time they act arrogant
Because they are shock-troops, basically, and as such they need to have a high level of confidence drilled into them.

Marines arent better, or worse, than the Army. They are different, they both play different but complimentary roles in Uncle Sams big military family. I think GW1 (pic related) is a really good example of this.

Marines get sent straight down the middle, right where the Iraqis thought the attack would come. Theoretically its the hardest fight, but relatively its the easiest maneuver: face the enemy and advance. Army gets sent on the wide flank, which is not where the Iraqi's expected and so is the easier fight, but is massively more complex a maneuver and requires substantial logistical support and extensive CnC. Either branch could have done what the other branch did, but neither would do it as well as the other.

Attached: 1391527996736.jpg (4375x3080, 2.69M)

their manuals are not the same. they have different unit compositions and tactics.
obviously a professional military force at its core is going to resemble another one in the same role.
we just had a thread not too long ago about some user asking why the fuck marine fireteams are so different than the army's.

you dun good

the main amphibious component to marines nowadays is with the MEU which are able to respond anywhere in the world with resources beyond what the army would be able to bring in by air, on top of being way cheaper.
marines ride on boat
something happens somewhere
boat arrives
marines get all the shit off the boat and end up standing around with their dicks in their hands for awhile
get everything back on boat
hate life again

most of the time this is just humanitarian bullshit but passing a meu within view of a place like iran sends a message on its own. not because marines are super extra tough killers, but because no other country sails that much capability around all the fucking time with infantry of all things

>My friend who just graduated out of highschool and bootcamp keeps telling me that he's a trained killer.

All branches claim to be the best branch, it's part of the military bravado. Nothing wrong with it, keeps moral high and makes the members feel like they are doing something worthwhile even if they are just pushing papers or pulling guard duty.

>I also spent the night chewing on a cigarette and fell out of my chair

Those were the days, YATYAS you faggots

they are like the special needs kid/the kid that does all the hard work even tho they don't get paid anything extra and the boss makes all the money.

so they all act like they are really good/give him all the gold star. It's nothing really worth it or anything but it makes them happy and they do the work

Was this the best infantry aesthetic for the War on Terror?

Attached: dave_andy.jpg (800x529, 200K)

Back when UPC was still a thing, it was pretty easy to argue that the Marines were superior just because they were using non-retarded camo.

Perhaps you should have gone combat arms.

The VA offers comprehensive counseling for alcoholism, user. Don't go down that road; it will literally end up killing you.

You have to instill a god complex into the dudes who are going to be the first ones meatgrinder'd.

Since Vietnam, and to an extent during Dubbyah Dubbya Two, Marines have gotten the shittiest, herpes and ebola encrusted, end of the deal. They have higher requirements now, not because they raised them. They simply didn't lower their standards to accomodate more Goblinas and MUH-NOR-TEEZ like every other fucking branch.

nah bitch, you tell me.

Fuck Tracks, fuck jannies and fuck niggers.
t. Woke up after a track nap covered in diesel for the next week and a half.

the usmc actually raised their pt standards a year or two ago so now it's harder to get higher scores.
a lot of folks who previously were sitting at 1st class pfts were struggling to get a high 2nd.
a welcome change and im not even some fitness hardass.

>joins MUHREENS
>doesn't just become an 03 one and done

what drives a man to do these things? Not even a technical field where he could come out with experience or just fly a desk as some paper pusher; a goddamn cook

No, but I didn't expect the next generation to be simultaneously edgier and tamer. They'll go on and on about wishing for genocide, but one faggot offs himself on camera and they're crying.

Fuck you moot, you abandoned us.

Of course its both extremes retard, we're headed at breakneck speed towards a civil war. America and European countries are gonna end up imploding into chaos in a decade or two.

Back your desk POG, you've had enough sunshine today.

Bro you are fucked up stop doing drugs

was anything he said wrong though?

Attached: 152314234213.jpg (600x400, 73K)

Who would win in a shootout: A Marine Corps POG or an Army POG?
What about in hand to hand combat?

marine would win both with his hands tied, especially when you consider the average Army POG is a fat black chick

>Winning a shootout
>With your hands tied
How does that work?

It's metaphorical

Brace rifle against something, pull trigger. Or he shoots it like a poorly thought out AR pistol build

dumb frogposter

A little bit of diesel never killed anyone..

As far as military doctrine goes, the marines are meant to be the fastest to deploy in serious numbers for invasion/occupation/whatever else purposes. Things that can't be accomplished with a commando unit. So they undergo some more intense training, each marine is held to a standard of basic marksmanship (which is more than POGs from any other branch, pretty much), and they have more strict physical fitness standards. Buuuut a lot of it is just overhyping because muh recruitment.

I have a theory that a lot of this oorah reputation came from the Pacific theater in WWII, since comparatively a lot of it was pretty fuckin awful even next to the European campaign.

>I have a theory that a lot of this oorah reputation came from the Pacific theater in WWII, since comparatively a lot of it was pretty fuckin awful even next to the European campaign.
I thought it came from Call of Duty?

You promise? Cause the status quo fucking sucks ass.

With his dick obviously

>.t social media grill

>implying social media grills aren't qt's

Yes, the Army has a better track record at winning and killing than the marines.

The fact checkers say otherwise.

because we don't do boot campwith girls , not allowed to have phones to call mommy at bootcamp . higher fitness standards . higher focus on individual combat skills . ex: IT jobs are still expected to progress belt colors in marine martial arts program
marines use old tech from 50s but still make do.

also marines get swords, oldest weapon still commissioned by DOJ

also marines have best uniform

also girls get soaked about marines

downside being dealing with spiks and nigs

user, I...

i remember the day they taught us to plunge the knife in the side of the neck, then pull the blade towards you through the front of the neck while pushing the forehead away from you while screaming " MARINE CORPS "

while my civilian friends were taking out loans for free information

No, boot. Read a fucking book.

If you can't keister the pistol grip of a rifle and deliver accurate fire with an M16 you get adminsep'd.

This

It's true, because the other branches are full of retarded fuckups that couldn't fight their way out of a paper bag.

You must be national guard. . . This.
