anyone have any experience with noveske barrels? i know the rifles themselves are pretty quality gucci, and i was thinking of picking up one of these .wingtactical.com/firearm-parts/ar-15/ar-15-barrels/5-56-223-barrels/noveske-afghan-14-5-ar-stainless-steel-5-56-match-barrel/

Why are you doing this? Just pin and weld or go 16". Unless you live in some dumb locality that only allows AR pistols then carry on. If you try the "muh loaded in my car" excuse Im going to tell you to try working a 14.5" in a car and let me know how that goes.

im looking at doing this too, it's really for no particular reason, i just happen to have gotten a good deal on an AR pistol build, and i want to throw money at it, its my only AR. all my other guns are fudd guns.

Its legal to make a pistol into a rifle with no paperwork or anything. Simply install a 16" barrel or a 14.5" with a P&W 3 prong flash hider and make a practical AR if you are only going to have one.

Stainless will be more accurate than CHF but not by a massive degree. As long as you arent group chasing all day it wont bother you.
Switchblock is only really a good idea if you plan to run a suppressor.

Not saying that its a bad barrel but you could buy a BCM or DD CHF barrel for less and enjoy a more pointable rifle than most noveske heavy profiles. Really for most shooters it makes more sense to spend $150 on a ballistic advantage barrel and $500 on a nice optic (aimpoint, leupold, etc) over spending $550 on a barrel.

All of that aside, that noveske barrel will treat you nicely and last forever so its not an awful choice.

cool, i was sorta dreading spending that much on a nice barrel anyways. other than the barrel, I plan on getting a geissele SD-E and probably a used aimpoint, and im not really sure where to go from there. Might start saving for a suppressor.

The degree of improvement depends from what stance you shoot from. But in all cases freefloat will be superior.

Free float will obviously be more accurate, but it’s proven, not magical.
That accuracy improvement may or may not matter for what you’re doing. If you want super precision then go with a free float, you’ll also probably want to avoid chrome lined barrels.
For combat, shtf, General use, the M4 carbine with a drop in rail has been proven for years.

But BCM barrels are plenty good. DD manufactures their own. BCM outsources, presumably from FN. They’re close, but DD has a slight advantage in accuracy.

Don't both use fn as the oem?

From what I understand is that BCM buys barrel blanks from FN but DD manufactures their own. Sourcing premium blanks and finishing themselves does not reduce the quality of the barrel.

yes. you can also buy products like a trirail. its a section(s) of rail that clamp onto the front sight base. einzetta (sp) also makes something that clamps underneath by the bayo lug. IWC makes a mount that goes on standard hand guards, like yours, but you may find that puts the light too far back, or at the very least you get a lot of shadow from the barrel
