Bolden the text retard. Also my dust cover arrived in the mail for my Type 38. Fit like a glove luckily, super aesthetic; love this gun.

My favourite shooer of all time for accuracy:
Schmidt Rubin langes Gewehr M 1911:
-excellent trigger
-eye friendly, good sights
-afaik best stock of all surp in ergonomic ways
-not too hard recoiling/ power consuming and cheapo surp / accurate round
-makes a noice pike/helbeard with bayonet attached since 1.3 m long
-bolt looks like a sicko 19th century enema device

no.
noice, shot it already?

Time and time again, no matter what, I always come back to the M1917.
>great sights
>wonderful bolt shape
>smooth bolt throw
>cock on close
>super cheap to reload for

I still want to send her in to the CMP for a rebarrel and reblue. She's a recovered sporter with terrible rifling and meh headspace, so no collector value, but the only thing giving me pause is the barrel is original. Fuck.

My Czech-Turkish Vz.98/22. It will shoot under 2MOA with surplus ammo.

I want to get a G11; a lovely, elegant rifle.

What's a Remington 1917 nugget worth in unmolested condition?

Need more details. Finned? Matching?

Asking for pics, haven't seen them yet. Matching and unsporterized, bore good, is what I've been told.

I like them, a lot, have 3 G11s and a 96/11

How much do they want?

They've asked me to suggest a fair price. It's someone I used to work with; their uncle passed away a while ago and they've decided a couple years later to sell his house and found a bunch of shit. This is the only gun so far apart from a couple Glocks.

You're gonna be cancerman

Out of everthing I've owned and shot, surp wise, this '44 Longbranch is the best by far. It's about a 1.8 to 2MOA rifle but the ergonomics, LOP, sights, trigger pull and everything just seem to click for me. It's natural to shoot, I feel comfortable with it and critically I have a well established load and good data I know nearly by heart. End result is it can be relied on to hit whatever I aim at so long as I don't fuck something up like snatch the trigger or fail to build position correctly. And for its part it's consistent, nothing seems to throw it out or change its zero.

I've never shot one that didn't feel good, they're another rifle I would describe as shootable as fuck.

It's hard to pick a favorite. My Ross is the most accurate though.

Attached: 20190214_104428.jpg (4032x628, 1.9M)

Huh, surprising. Happy for you user, but I've never been a terribly big fan of Enfield pattern rifles because of what I see as some major design inadequacies. Do you shoot surplus ammo through it?

favourite rifle because: smle.
god, i love that scene at the well in the movie ghandi, that brit officer is peak aesthetic and cool:

Government Advocate: General Dyer, is it correct that you ordered your troops to fire at the thickest part of the crowd?
Gen. Dyer: That is so.
Government Advocate: 1,516 casualties with 1,650 bullets.
Gen. Dyer: My intention was to inflict a lesson that would have an impact throughout all India.

i bet they poo in loo now.

No, even if it was readily available I wouldn't. Corrosive primers, shitty propellant accelerating wear (if it's cordite) etc. Home loads are cheap enough.

The exception was some South African R1 M3Z which is excellent milspec Mk7z ball from the 80s.

most fun to shoot: M95 Steyr.
the punishing recoil and the short sight radius
demand focusing or its gonna be a painful rangeday full of miss.

Stupid question, but should I be worried about "shooting out" the bore of a milsurp gun? I don't want to kill my nicer guns (Luger, M1 Garand, etc).

No.

if you dont shoot 1000s of rounds per year, your grandchildren are gonna have fun with your funs.

>implying I won't be buried with my guns
I will mummify them and construct a grand Jow ForumsI've tomb.

My autism makes me worry about this as well, I don't want to wear out the accurate barrel life of my surp with newish bores. Luckily, or not, I'm too poor to shoot enough for that.

Not quite yet. Soon

Fuck thats impressive mine certainly doesnt lol

Probably a Lee Enfield of some sort. The bolt is just sooooo slick. I don't care about stacking bullets in the same hole. If we're talking semi-auto, probably a full power battle rifle like an M1.

Got it this week

My K11 shoots MOA or under with PPU. Swedish Mauser gets about 1.5 MOA with PPU match ammo. Next best would be my arisaka, it pulls of 2 MOA with Norma. Worst is my Turkish Mauser, it gets between 3-4 MOA with Romanian steel case.

I think for most people it’s a very irrational fear. I too used to be concerned about it, but now I have 50+ firearms and counting and plenty of rifles see about 100 rounds or less per year. I typically can only go shooting once or twice a week and I only take 3-4 guns per time.

Any tips on reading the original markings on a yugo mauser? I can just make out the eagle, and 2 or so of the original serial numbers. But what I'm interested in is the date mark.

Attached: 20190703_191419.jpg (3264x2448, 2.02M)

forget it.
as long as nobody comes up with the years linked to serial numbers there is not much to get out of it.

I can't find anything on mine. The only thing I know for Yugo K98ks is that the W block for Yugo serial numbers did not have the markings scrubbed for whatever reason. Now it's just a matter of finding one.

Noice and gooey, bois
Currently using vinegar windex to degrease and it’s going well. Stock is laminate and it’s one of the Tula batches just imported. I got it for slightly less than most are selling them for but it was by no means I steal. I just wanted a Tula while I could still get one. Rifle looks damn near untouched.

Looking at a SMLE No. 4 Mk 1 right now, what should I reasonably expect to pay?

400-500

Picked up my civil guard 1916 today. Everything matches but the buttplate and probably stock, but the gun looks fantastic. Bore is beautiful. I'm going to load up some 7.62x51 150 grain with 40.6 grain 4064, since that's the starting load in my hornady book. Does anyone have a different load for these?
Nice. How much? I've found that a blow dryer is almost better than any other method for removing cosmo

Attached: 20190703_180526.jpg (4032x3024, 3.14M)

Got it for 300 with bayonet and accessories. Appears to be matching #s.

Like I said, not a steal, but everywhere else they’re going for $350 or so.

That's honestly a pretty good price for a complete kit. What year?

Just curiosity really. It's a Mod. 48, so from what I've read it's a pre-1950 remark.

It's super faint, seems like it's only visible due to the effect of stamping the steel. Only visible in the right light.

She’s a 1944. Tula crest is clean and legible. I gotta say, she’s kind of a looker.

>where to find M1917
Gun shows. Gun stores. Any place you find guns, really.

It's popular to hate mosins now that they're not cheap as fuck. Everyone forgets that they were part of the first generation of smokeless guns, and while they weren't great, they weren't bad enough to replace by Russian standards.

Also, acquired Spanish shorty boi with pokey end.

Attached: image.jpg (4032x3024, 1.97M)

Yeah now that they're $300 and up it's hard to justify buying one unless you just like milsurp and history like us autists. Still, I think most milsurp is a good investment. There will be a day where you won't find an SKS under $1000, especially if the dems pass an assault weapons ban

Which surp gun do you guys own that gets the most attention at the range?

I thought it would forever be my K31 until I took my 7mm mauser rolling block to the range today and had 4 different people ask me about it.

Garand and/or Luger. Flexing on the poorfags by bringing a Garand, Luger, P38, and SVT always leads to tons of people asking to try them. I just got the Luger, yet I already get a ton of "oooh shiny can I try" comments.

I'll draw you some hentai if you send me one of those mosins. It can be any one you don't want.

I know that feel. And I'm a poor fag, so its not like my WW2 milsurp was in great condition to start with.

This, I think the only solution is to get more guns and rotate.

>muh design flaws
you can like mausers and still not be a total bitch about cock on close and rear locking lugs. There's nothing wrong with Enfield pattern rifles, they aren't winning any PRS comps but they dominate millsurp shooting events for good reason. Comfy ergos, fast to shoot and accurate enough.

il'l send u a mosin, maybe a m39,
if u send me one of your female relatives,
but only if she's pretty and younger than 30.

god i feel muslim now.

Attached: 20180424_154620.jpg (3264x2448, 2.28M)

It's a pretty good idea to have spare extractors, ejectors and springs, firing pin/main springs, magazine springs, sear springs, spare sear, any springs related to the sight etc

Goes for all milsurps and where each apply. Goes for all guns actually.

I wish I could shoot well with Swede short-rifles. My eyes aren't good enough, not really good enough for any open sights actually.

weeeellll... in the austrian ordance rifle competitions I've shot so far its more a question of caliber for the top 3 ranks and inherent accuracy, trigger, stock ergo and sight radius for the top 10, the rest is whatever lucky or bad day the shooter had.
so top 3: with swedish and south american mausers in 6,5x55 and 7x57 mm, all handloads, marksmen put 20 shots within a 2 euro coin, kinda 1" at 100m.
ranks 4-10 are usually swiss, finnish or p14/17 rifles, k98 and mosins. i saw a no.4 once among the top 10 but that was one timer.
since most milsurp have a similar inherent accuracy if in good shape, the ammo allows with handloads to unfluence the result the most.
and .303 brit isnt exactly a precision round compared to 6,5 swede.

Attached: IMG-20180223-WA0001.jpg (1599x1200, 227K)

get p14/17 or no.4 enfields, mas 36 or fr8, they sll have peep sights.
or swiss g11, 96/11, k11 they have big notches and broad front sights, as well as finn mosins like m28/30 or m39
getting shitty eyes myself, but these can be shot without glasses.

Attached: IMG_20190225_100404_578.jpg (2304x1728, 618K)

Are those yours? Goddamn. A No4 in 6.5x55 has always been a dream of mine, action isn't really long enough for the best sort of shit but I think it's long enough for milspec Swedish ball which was nothing to scoff at.

I love my longboi m/96 but if I was to shoot anything that required more than just small groups, even a competition primarily judged on accuracy as long as it was off benches and rests, I'd take my No4. I suppose it comes down to what people are in practice with, I'm sure on the continent Enfields aren't as favoured as in the Commonwealth countries. No argument about .303 though, it was good enough for a military round but it's not in the top flight compared to many of its contemporaries.
