in 2011 I scored a 93 on my ASVAB with a perfect score on the English portion. then in 2019 I took neuropsych testing which revealed my intelligence to be in the "low average range" (granted I took it hungover after six months of hardcore benadryl abuse.) I think the bipolar disorder is slowly eroding my intellect >tfw living out the events of flowers for algernon

Can you be kicked out for things your dependent does?
>Can you be kicked out for things your dependent does? ehh, I saw someones wife in my unit in Germany kicked back to the US for unspecified reasons. She got to take the kids with her and he had to move into he barracks. Had another guy in my unit that was divorced get sent back from Iraq and discharged because his ex and her bf were arrested and throne into jail for something and he had to go take custody of the two kids he had with her.
Zachary Parker
>and discharged Wait. Was it dishonorable/general?

How can a person from another country enlist in the marine core?
Dominic Sanchez
What country
Jacob Allen
Hey I’ve blown in from qtddtot and wanted to know if enlisting is worth it to cover the expense of finishing my BS from my AS. I’d have to retake the ASVAB again because it’s been more than two years, but I managed a 98 in high school and hopefully haven gotten too dull in the time since.
To the two anons that replied I read those and thank you but I realized I ctrl+f the wrong enlist thread.

I'm 23, one more year until I graduate college. I thought about joining the Army or USMC since I still don't know what I wanna do with my life. I have nothing going for me, no gf, not getting laid, no social life, etc, so there's really nothing I'm going to miss about the civilian life. I've even been practicing for the Army Rangers PFT. I figured that I'll win either way. One side of the coin I get KIAd in Iran and the other side is if survive I'll come back home stronger than before I joined.

Reminder that the military won't fix you. If you aren't motivated as an adult male by himself you won't be motivated even though you have a uniform on.
Grayson Howard
Don't know about "kicked out" but if you have a security clearance and your dependa breaks opsec you might get into some trouble
Jack Evans
I'm aware. Im not looking for them to motivate me.

If any of you retards are actually considering nuke, know there's a qualified one lurking the thread who won't bullshit you about the program. I was close to the bottom of my class since A-School and qualified late, but I still don't regret signing up for it.

call a recruiter, but youlll probably get over your feeling in the morning. play Halo 1-3 and CoD 4 to further cement your desire

No i'm being serious man. It's always something i've wanted to do. Be a Marine. Now I might actually go through with it

call your closest recruiter to get started. they handle all of it we just have tips, tricks, workarounds, and answer the more niche details a recruiter cant tell you. if you want to sign up go the recruiting office

>nothing fancy just a straight Infantryman You cant be guaranteed 0311 because in the Marines you sign a contract for an MOS field, so you'll be get 03xx and you have a good chance at being 0311, but you also get 0351 or some other obscure shit.

can you still get disqualified at reception for medical shit?

Got diagnosed with tachycardia but is not on my medical record , it usually goes away in a few seconds would it be too risky to join mil? Have meds but haven't needed to use

I love being 5 years in with obvious plain as fucking daylight mental illness while fuckers argue about how they couldnt possibly hack it wearing the wrong socks through basic; like children who've failed to even get jobs washing dishes can tell me whether I'm qualified to do anything; and like squirrely specialists who are too confused to do decent network ops can stop me from being a deranged degenerate
ADF Recruit here. Anyone here know much about what Army Electronic Warfare Operators do? (don't have to be from the ADF) I've passed my assessment day with that as my first preference, I have some idea as to what they do but because the role is classified (at least here in Australia) it's been hard to find out specifics.
Angel Mitchell

back at it again, im thinking about doing a 3 year army contract in the trades. good or bad?
Anthony Hernandez
1/2 Hey all, I have a bit of weird case that I would like to get some perspective on before I think about enlisting. Currently looking at the Coast Guard, but I am open to other options.
First a bit of background info: I'm 30 years old and I have been a high school social studies teacher for 2 years. I want out. I teach at the second worst school in the county and it's run more like an insane asylum than an actual school. Apart from that, I have an MA (US History, fucking terrible I know), I'm in decent shape (been working out and running consistently for the last six months), and I just became a U.S. citizen. I held off from enlisting earlier because all of the interesting jobs were locked behind the wall of citizenship, but now that I have it, I want to serve. There is a complication though.
When I was 14, I went on a medication called Accutane and it messed with my mood. I made the mistake of telling a teacher that I was thinking about death a lot, and was then sent to a mental hospital. From my understanding then, this was a Baker Act. I stayed there for a few days, got diagnosed with Bipolar disorder and then got put on Wellbutrin and Lamictal. I stayed on those medications for approximately one year before I stopped taking them. Since that point, I have not taken medication and I have not felt any of the symptoms of Bipolar disorder. I don't drink, I don't do drugs, so all in all I am pretty normal and boring.
Now the problem is that when I applied for my citizenship, I checked off that I was Baker Acted. However, in the year between filing the paperwork and the citizenship interview, I discovered that I actually was not Baker Acted, or at least if I was, the records no longer exist. I checked with the county, the local sheriff's office, the state, and even the hospital itself and there are no records of me ever being Baker Acted. The hospital itself shut down and was bought out by another company. Old hospital records no longer exist. Continued...
Brody Bailey
Good because you’ll not want to kill yourself daily Not if you be quiet user but yeah
Benjamin Green
2/2 Problem is that when I did the citizenship interview, they asked me to get a psychological evaluation as I could not provide records of the Baker Act. I told them that I made a mistake saying that I was and asked to have it removed from my record, but it's unclear if they actually did.
My concern is this: would this information be readily available if I was investigated for a TS clearance? Based on what I read on here, it should be easy to cover up at MEPS and such. I just want to know if I should bother going through with this with the current information at hand. Thanks all!
Adam Rivera
i think you'll be ok but if youre worried about it army doesnt do a secret clearance unless you need it neither does marines but their max age is 28
John Richardson
Air Force linguini here, if anyone has questions about it. To knock out a few now: >4.5 years in >Pashto >99 ASVAB/128 DLAB >Other services' ground linguists mostly do the same thing >Don't know much about tactical high speed shit except you likely will not get it from the AF
Overall I'd recommend it if you're a fucking nerd.
Charles Reed
lol get a 2 year 15Q contract
Adam Adams
>lied about medical history >still got caught thanks Jow Forums!

what did you do

any recruiters know the protocol of dealing with someone who is blacklisted? I've been ghosted by like 3 recruiters and i'm getting suspicious

What about getting into OCS? Would that be a no-go with that information?
Angel Smith
They do stay in contact user
Mason Mitchell
how?
Ayden Ward
fuck if I know they went digging and found an old prescription
Caleb Davis
You airborne? Im currently a load and was thinking about reclassing into this eventually
Kayden Wood
Groundie. My airborne friends doing CT stuff like it, but are basically deployed back and forth to the same places all the time. There's also stuff in AFSOC that's supposedly super high speed. Other regions I'm not really sure, except you'd obviously get stationed overseas. Every assignment is pretty unique.
Robert Anderson
350F/security manager here.
Dunno if your still here to read this, but youre good to go. Never mention baker act ever again, just forget that word ever existed. If anyone ever brings it up, play extremely dumb and dont even act like you know what baker act even means.
Google SF86, they will only look into the questions that form asks.
As far as a TS goes, you should be good to go. I recommend coming in as an officer though. If you had a bad time being a highschool teacher, youre gonna absolutely hate being enlisted. You will be surrounded by and have to listen to 18 year olds.
Austin Bennett
All military members go under a "secret" level investigation now. Youre right about the clearance part though. But if they find something, youre fucked.
Jason Cook
Lie to meps, not the investigators.
Thomas Parker
Thank you so much! This is great to know. I will head to a recruiter on Monday. See you all on the other side.
Jordan Richardson
In the Air Force can you get in trouble for using Mugwort? Its a herb that you can put and tea and smoke. Its suppose to enhance your dreams and thats about it.

They also use it for japanese foods aswell

>LYING ABOUT MEDICAL HISTORY = BIG YES >LYING ABOUT CRIMINAL HISTORY = BIG NO
I have a unique problem and realize I'm probably fucked, but could I get some opinions?
I got put on a 3 day psych hold in college (yes I know how stupid this is). I think I could lie about this to get in because it's in my medical history, but because of state law I'm in a database that says I can't own firearms for the next several years, which I'm pretty sure will show up on a background check. Especially if I want a job that requires a clearance.
As I see it, my options are:
1. Disclose the information and hope they can accept my explanation about it (fat chance)
2. Petition to have my rights restored and thereby taken out of the database.
3. Fuck it, lie, and see what happens.
Or I guess I could give up on being in the military entirely, but I'd really like to serve. I'd hate to be disqualified over something so dumb.
Aaron Morales
Disclose it, and if they ask say it was because of grief. They cant get the particulars when they look it up. And mental shit due to grief is not a reason for disbarment.
Noah Jackson
>They cant get the particulars when they look it up.
They won't just request the records?
Brayden Butler
It means you are going to fail in, hate, or a combination with the military. A lack of motivation brings you nowhere.
Adam Foster
How do I increase my chances of getting 0311?"
Mason Nguyen
Suck at hiking. That guy is an idiot.
Bentley Hughes
hmm, im in DEP and being offered a chance to submit a nuke package and trying to find a reason to do it or not. whats the schedule like in the program and is it better to be on a carrier or sub?

>ASVAB = Intelligence Idk about that one man I've only taken the practice one and there wasn't a single question I wasn't capable of answering When I went over the ones I got wrong it was because of stupid shit like picking the wrong one by accident or just making a small math error

It's complicated but tl;dr yes.

>But I thought they don't have access to your medical records!!!!!!!!!! reminder the boomers in these threads have been screwing kids over for years.
William Thomas
so should we change the OP to be >LYING ABOUT MEDICAL HISTORY: ONLY TO MEPS
Cooper Thomas
Finish college and commission.
Don't buy sugary things.
You won't be able to reliably finagle an ACRC job coming in off the street, it's too well known a grift.
Was the lying even what screwed him? There are too little details to know. Plus, it would be fucking stupid to talk about a permanently disqualifying, non waiverable, but minor medical condition when you could have a chance as long as you don’t say anything to anyone. For some things you can either be disqualified forever, or shut the fuck up and hope it’s not discovered before getting in.
Juan Bell
What the fuck are you asking about
Carson Foster
You should definitely not ship, you will never make it being such a giant pussy.

why did you get sick a week before bmt, and you'll 99% recover in a week so yeah go

welp just got hit with reckless driving in VA. going 86mph in 65. so used to texas where i can cruise at 85 mph and cops not really give a shit. def should have read up on va traffic laws cause this shit is retarded. fuckin class 1 misdemeanor? anyways i informed my CoC. i know im bouta get destroyed but whats gonna happen now? last ticket i got was like maybe 2 years ago back in texas.
Easton Russell
You fix you; not the military.
Dominic Reyes
Nothing. Just pay the fine
Jordan Ramirez
I got a regular speeding ticket in California even though I was definitely doing 90 before slowing down. Cop said 84 and to this day I still don’t know if he was being nice or didn’t get me till I cruised down a bit
Zachary Cooper
i didnt get a fine. i have to go to court. is it hopeful thinking that they'll throw it down to a regular ticket for a first offense?
Benjamin Gomez
Idk you tell them something that makes them think you’re not worth their time?
Elijah Moore
It’s the same for all DoD, but I ain’t heard of it so probably you’re safe
Carson Mitchell
I haven't hit the fleet yet, but the pipeline can be rough if you're a dumb one like me. In A-School and Power School you'll be learning 8 hours a day Monday through Friday, and depending on your grades you might have required study hours. For most of the time I was required 15 to 25 after school study hours every week with 2 to 4 required the night before every academic day. When you reach Prototype it gets kind of fucky, with you working rotating shift work trying to qualify and learn in a more hands on approach. It's worth it if you really want to operate different aspects of a nuclear plant, and it gets you half way to a BS in the field related to your rate. The accredited colleges that accept the most credits aren't exactly the most well known, or the best, but they will give you a valid degree that's useful for getting your foot in the door and your 6+ years of experience are what really help. If you do decide to go nuke, know that it's best if you qualify everything you possibly can while you're in. I know someone who just finished 10 years that now has a job working 24hrs a week making 125k/yr.
Christian Gonzalez
Can anyone recommend some starter Russian books for me? Looking to learn it, seems like a valuable skill if I try to go navy to pay for med school.
Christopher Clark
>starter Russian books for me Duolingo on google
Blake Sullivan
No, it’s not hopeful thinking. Let them know you have adamant, and hopeful intentions to join the military and you don’t want such a detrimental disposition on your record because of how it will disqualify you from serving
Carson Gray
Ask for school it will eliminate the stain on your record just be aware it’s boring as shit
Aaron Mitchell

how serious is eczema, specifically dermatitis, taken when going through MEPs and later basic training? I got a medical waiver for it and its never really flared up severely, only when I was working as a dishwasher. But ive never been in the field, sweating or moving in the train for days at a time so IDK how my body will react. Will this prevent me from being in the infantry and later SOF? If it gets bad enough during basic who do I talk to? I really dont want to get kicked out but I dont want to get an infection either
