Depends on if its a robbery or a mugging, at least legally. If you blast someone for breaking into your car or stealing your TV youre going to get thrown in jail because there is no threat to your safety. But in a mugging where you get jumped and robbed under the threat of bodily harm, you would be allowed to use a weapon as self defense.
