I love how posting the LeoClerc always manages to summon you. Or is it LeLeo? I honestly kinda like the idea of a joint-project, all though i think 130mm should be the next step
Ive only spent my time driving Leo's and cant really say anything bad about how it handles, kinda wanna try the leclerc, abrams and chally one time just to compare

It's not bad per se. I can make an educated guess because the UAE Leclerc's engine is a close relative to the Leo 2's : it's a great one, reliable and powerful, just far less responsive than the French Leclerc. It feels a bit sluggish.

The Leclecr has some kind of extra turbo-wizardry going on, or something like that? Or am i confusing it with the Ariete?
Not sure about the Ariete, but you're right about the Leclerc : it's turbo was replaced with a proper turbine. This way as soon as you touch the accelerator pedal, the 1500HP are there for you to play with.
The LeClerc performed always worse in evaluations against the Leopard 2 in cross country tests.
No surprise because the LeClerc has a significant higher ground pressure than the Leopard 2.

Did they even use it for anything outside of parades and propaganda? I thought the only reason that thing existed was to get people excited about domestic arms production.

Ok first of all, "Leclerc", like the marshall, note "LeClerc" as in The Clerc.
>No surprise because the LeClerc has a significant higher ground pressure than the Leopard 2. This is plainly false. 0.9kg/cm2 for the Leclerc (unknown version), and I found three different figures for the Leo 2, 0.83/0.89/0.92, most likely for the A4/5/6 variants.
>The LeClerc performed always worse in evaluations against the Leopard 2 in cross country tests. Can't find info on that, so I'll respectfully doubt it. The Leclerc has a better HP to weight ratio, much better acceleration, and it's lighter. The French crews did not fare that well during the last two Tank Challenges in Germany, but if there's one domain where they did impressed their peers, it was mobility.

The Semple was and still is the pinnacle of tank design.
Yup. Was young and stupid and had just discovered /b/.

Mind giving a bit of insight into the autoloader? -how do you deal with having to swap a loaded round with another? As in you suddenly need a HE-round when you have sabot loaded? Does the carousel have a spesific loadout, or can you give it 100% of sabot if you so wish?
You can't swap. Well, you can remove a round manually, but that's not a standard procedure, and it's a chore. You fire what is chambered, on the principle that even though it's not exactly the desired effect, it will have an effect nonetheless, that should give you enough time to cycle the prefered round. The loadout would be determined prior to the mission (according to intel, the mission itself, what's available etc). The standard, generic loadout is 11 sabot/11 HEAT.

Leopard 2 driver seat. Not sure about the version.

They say the MGCS is said to have a higher caliber so 130mm is possible
