I should clarify that these are not all the same demonstration from the same year, the Maoists in Nepal have been throwing rocks and shitfits for decades now, you can imagine their getting some foreign backing from their next door neighbors for a number of reasons, water not the least among them.

I have never heard of this and now have to look up everything about it. Nepal's history has been a cascade of violence and resistance and I imagine their riots must be something to behold. Im phone posting atm running errands, Ill get in front of a computer in a few hours and be more active.
Still posting Yellow Vest stuff, yellow was a consistent theme for them due to the reflective vests being the unofficial uniform of the protesters. It was an easy way to uniform a large number of people because France has a law that if you own a car you need to keep a reflective vest in the car in case your vehicle is disabled on the roadside. Hence everyone had exactly one identical piece of clothing. I believe this is an image of a riot cop covered in thrown yellow paint.

The original caption says she is standing next to a body guard and the local mayor. If that caption is accurate that means the mayor is holding a rifle to protect his president which I find kinda cool.

I've been there. I walked the steps. Beautiful monument. It's a big space. Great footage. Those cops couldn't control the space. The few vs the many doesn't work like that. They would have to respond with overwhelming violence as a deterrent to assembly. You could see that the tear gas as an area denial weapon didn't do much. If you can find that video of the top of the arch I'd like to see it.
