In this video, why are they firing the Sherman tank gun with a long cord? Why not use the actual controls? Are australians such pussies, they will not even get in a tank?

I think it's a liability thing. Watched a video from The Slow Mo Guys firing an M4 and they used the lanyard as well. Insurance and owners probably don't want anyone in the turret if something goes wrong, two people were killed a few years ago when an M18 they were in had an explosion.
Also I used to watch How Ridiculous often, comfy channel with nice camera work but some of the stuff was getting repetitive.

these tanks and their cannons are long past their best by date. There are no easily acquired replacement parts so they go way beyond their round counts that would have required a replacement in military service.

Yeah, it's because if the breech fails or their is some catastrophic failure of the shell that ruptures the rear of the gun the concussion will kill everyone in the turret.

It is no problem when shooting blanks, but live rounds can be deadly.

aussies are the most badass people on the planet, you are just a jealous fuck jealous of the fact that you'll never be half as good as an australian.

Unlike the German Panther or Tiger Tank, The parts used in the production of the Sherman are of rather low quality due to sloppy U.S. mass production standards. This makes the Sherman tank a literal death trap to it's crew and other personnel in it's direct vicinity.

Go back to sleep Belton Y. Cooper.

>emu war

Ok retard

>panther
>engine bursts into flames just getting off a train
>soviet field manuals basically state "use 'em if you grab 'em working, but don't even dream about fixing"
>the french operated panthers for five years, having more experience with them than the Germs, and were completely frustrated and thoroughly tired with that trash
>factory-fresh models tested by the brits break down and the engine suffers from random explosions and fires
>"It will be noted in the Field Trial report that the mileage recorded on the Panther prior to the performance trials was comparatively small."
>"a considerable amount of repair and maintenance work was necessary to obtain the performance data"
>"The behavior of the engine did not permit a proper assessment of the vehicle’s performance."
>"certain of the engine components appeared to be of a sub-standard or obsolete type."
>"The almost complete lack of accessibility to the engine compartment rendered difficult the amount of maintenance the power unit required"
>"During the cross country trials a fire occurred in the engine compartment and due to the considerable internal damage sustained the trials were abandoned."

wow some people actually took the bait

when has australia ever done something badass

I can't think of a single time

That one couple got their baby eaten by dingoes, that's pretty hardcore.

Perhaps he was referring to that one time over 100 years ago where Australia took ten months to lose to the Ottomans. You know, Australia's ONLY military action ever mentioned in public. It is a source of great pride for the Australian.

maybe when the Australian identified with Crocodile Dundee. The man who inspired that character was killed in a police shoot out couple of decades ago.

It's an insurance thing, You are firing reloads. If the guy who does the reload fucks up bad things can happen very fast and with equally ugly results

euroSHIT detected

Ah yes, the McCann-approach to parenting

Nah, I just posted to laugh at the Panther and share the fun.
t. guess who

Having Australian soldiers used as cannon fodder by Shitain is the most noteworthy part of their history?

Yes. It's the only moment in "Australian" (read: British) history when Australians were used for anything that anyone noticed.

Nope just a guy who works with people who film videos like this, also a guy who knew the two fellows who were decapitated by the disintegrating breech of the 76mm gun

>fun fact after the police paperwork the widow sold the tank for several hundred thousand dollars to another collector w/ the blood still present

Almost reminds me of when they would clean off a KO in WWII for the next crew

kokoda track campaign was neat

Indeed, they should have been firing at migrant boats.

Pretty sure they have been involved in every NATO war
