A man screaming “You die!” burst into an animation studio in Kyoto, doused it with a flammable liquid and set it on fire Thursday, killing 33 people in an attack that shocked the country and brought an outpouring of grief from anime fans.
Thirty-six others were injured, some of them critically, in a blaze that sent people scrambling up the stairs toward the roof in a desperate — and futile — attempt to escape what proved to be Japan’s deadliest fire in nearly two decades. Others emerged bleeding, blackened and barefoot.
The suspect, identified only a 41-year-old man who did not work for the studio, was injured and taken to a hospital. Police gave no details on the motive, but a witness told Japanese TV that the attacker angrily complained that something of his had been stolen, possibly by the company.
was there only one exit in this place? No fire escapes? No windows? WTF Japan, you'd think when we firebombed the shit out of you you'd learn some fire containment techniques. I'm honestly more upset by that.
Christian Watson
they had anti suicide windows and a locked rooftop
Wow, purely coincidental that vocaroo just happened to start recording right when your autistic tirade began. faggot
Aaron Clark
I don't think he was being recorded... i wager he was responding to the jap building and was mad about people feeling sorry for japanese and is likely that japan hating user

>this man is your friend Arsonist.png >he fights for freedom
Jason Hernandez
They found like 18 bodies piled around the 3rd story door to the roof that was locked, all dead from smoke inhalation.
Ayden Jones
literally crying tears of joy right now. Kyoanuslickers unilaterally and unequivocally btfo beyond repair. How the fuck will samefacefags ever recover from this??? >hiro linking to a gofundme not in any way associated with the studio, its victims or families LMAO holy fuck what a god damn moron
Blake Williams
>"Why bother bringing the building up to code when we're just gonna demolish and rebuild it in three years anyway" Shame. >Locked Fucking WHY? >Too many people chilling out on the roof re-enacting scenes from their shows >not enough work getting done >"Who needs the roof anyway?" Fucking hell
In other news, an employee, while on fire chased the perpetrator out of the building, back to the perpetrators home, where the employee collapsed and the perpetrator was arrested The mans was found fused to the road >nigger setting shit on fire >i'm on fire >don't care >he hurt my friends >don't care that my skins melting off >imma fucking get him True Samurai spirit
Kevin Lopez
>major studio, reputable and trusted, created fundraiser to help the studio in trouble >"lol who could trust that? What a scam!"
Hunter Reyes
>created fundraiser bruh. The studio is not accepting donations at this time and have made it clear all day not to donate to any gofundmes claiming association. Someone made a cool million in less than 24 hours scamming gullible weebs. my fucking sides
Ethan Ortiz
Ah, so KyoAni's made a statement on that then? Sorry, I hadn't realised. I guess there's gonna be fucking blood then

False flag. Why would he be speaking english? They want to ban big anime tiddys

Jap buildings may be low on fire safety, but they're ultra-paranoid about suicide prevention. Basically every building has the indestructible anti-suicide windows, and roof access is usually restricted due to overworked nips yeeting themselves off of any high structure
Jack Sanchez
For a three story building staffed by higher-ups and managers, I'd imagine this'd be a lesser risk. In the west we solved the whole "Don't fucking chain up potential fire exists you fucking morons" 100 years ago. If you don't wanna put an auto-unlock on every door of the building because "too spensive, wait till rebuild", then you don't get to lock ANY of the fucking doors or windows either. Wanna lock them? Fine. Put in some fire safety systems. Don't wanna? Go fuck yourself, crash bars on everything I'd be surprised if there was a single case of anyone YEETing themselves off a three story building.
Benjamin Morales
If studios companies don't want people offing themselves maybe they shouldn't make them work upwards of 16 hours a day without overtime. It isn't uncommon for anime crews to work until 4am and then just sleep on the floors of the studio.
Cameron James
>How the fuck will samefacefags ever recover from this??? I hope you aren't unironically pretending that all anime isn't sameface bullshit.
Matthew Parker
The roof door was unlocked, this has been in multiple reports now. Either the door opened inward, or the people died from smoke inhalation/CO etc before being able to open it.
Owen Sanders
>steal my waif >pay the price-u
Can some one tell me what is going on? I'm not into weebshit so I don't know what's going on with the studio, or trainfags, or MOE, etc. Can someone break it down for me?

Carter Cruz
Not that guy, but nothing Kyoani did was unique. Anime has always been a boundary pushing faggy medium. Homos everywhere (entire genres going back to the 80s), "lolicon" pedophile characters played for laughs and transgenders (le ebin traps xd) out the wazoo. They also didn't start or popularize any genre they're blamed for either, they just made them profitable. CGDCT was popularized by Azumanga like 3 years before Kyoani even started making their own stuff (as opposed to being a subcontractor for other studios), Moe has been massively popular since Lum, if not earlier, LN and VN adaptions were the standard of the time. For all the asshurt they cause, Kyoanis only real crime was that their comedy never landed, aside from the occasional FMP gag.
Benjamin Rivera
I'm sorry, I expected you to act like a normal person, instead of someone who is sexually aroused by drawings.
>WTF is moe
Juan Nguyen
The irony is that Kyoani was one of the few companies that probably don't need anti-suicide windows.
Jonathan Morris

If your drawings cant arouse people, you cant draw for shit. People have been jacking it to drawn pinups for centuries, hentai literally predates photography.

literally more kills than isis in the western world this year, should we condem all train autists now to as you do with Muslims?
Matthew Edwards
Cope with what? Ive got kids, Ive already fulfilled any obligation to long dead people I might have. What is it about porn that bothers you?
Jeremiah Murphy
>should we condem all train autists now to as you do with Muslims? Abso-fucking-lutely. Ive been saying it since Elliot Rogers, this incel shit is the root of all evil. People act like Jow Forums types are just harmless pathetic losers, but they're an active danger to the rest of us who offer nothing of value to counterpoint the risk they pose. You want to stop mass shootings? Make men present proof they've had sex, even a prostitute would be acceptable. Those over 20 that aren't religious and cant provide evidence get a single warning before execution. Those that cant provide evidence and have ever even once donated to a twitch thot dont get the warning, particularly in light of that chick Bianca that got slashed recently.
Isaac Hall
You sound like a complete faggot. You're taking a waifu joke way too seriously, and have all this weird projection. Why are you on Jow Forums? Heard from CNN this was hub of alt-right conservative Christian values?
Jonathan Howard
Yes. Train autists are some creepy fuckers and if you don't believe me just go on /n/ for a while.
Brayden Davis
I hope somehow this turns to our advantage and all the anime loving libtards and sjws advocate for civilian gun ownership and guards to protect their anime in japan and begins the great liberation of asia.
>area 51 redpills government loving zoomers once naruto raid turns into waco 2.0 >anime arson without guns hardens japan into taking the warriors code and follows america's stance into turning asia into an ancap heavily armed continent >bolsonaro and right wing leaders give latin america and africa back their guns!
Julian Carter
Japs dont have fire axes, sprinklers, access to the roof.
Jesus.
Joseph Scott
There was roof access, but the door was pull and not push as safety regs would demand. So when 19 panicking people were all shoving at the door in an extremely hot stairwell filled with toxic fumes things didn't go so well. And axes and sprinklers aren't going to do shit against 40L of petrol going up in a building comprised mostly of paper and wood.
Carter Hernandez
Based and saved
Anthony Cooper
>door was pull and not push as safety regs would demand Man I wonder what safety regs are for. >Alright boss, we installed the door
Charles Kelly
The building was several decades old, and a huge amount of those old ones built during the post-war economic boom skirted as many safety regs as possible due to either laziness or cheapness.
Chase Lewis
AFAIK, there is zero information on the actual fire equipment availability or what happened. I'm sure we'll find out soon enough. I mean, do you guys make the assumption that the world trade buildings had no extinguishers or sprinklers too?
Michael Johnson
Yeah and that's why we update buildings and ensure they're up to code. It's honestly surprising to me that this happened in Japan of all places, you would think with how they keep their shit orderly that this wouldn't have happened.
Daniel Rodriguez
>donating to anything endorsed or affiliated with hiro and his cronies
>Yes. Train autists are some creepy fuckers and if you don't believe me just go on /n/ for a while. The trains gotta go, all of them. Train autists should never be allowed to watch their accursed wheeled demons ever again!
how many workplace burnings will it take until they outlaw fire and flammable liquids?
he said, dripping with sarcasm.
Logan Anderson
There's two theories about the loon who did it The more likely one (and the one that's appeared in jap news) is that he thought that something they made somehow ripped off something else he may or may not have wrote, probably some trashy isekai LN. The meme one that you'll see here is about some train photographer who was acting strange on 2ch yesterday before the attack, and supposedly went batshit crazy because of youtube.com/watch?v=ExvrVz5yl-M since it attracted smelly otakus to his favorite train station and somehow the fan name for the bari sax solo was ripping off some other term he made up years ago about train photography.
God damn Japanese fanboys are hardcore. None of the pissed off Transformers fans ever even tried to take a swing at Michael Bay, let alone set fire to a studio.
>they are responsible for the moeshit >not the hordes of manchildren who ate up all the moeshit, creating a demand
Jordan Long
The most significant prerequisite condition for a moeshit fanbase is the existence of moeshit.
Nolan Long
33? It seems like the better impulse control your race has, the worse it is when you chimp out.
Jonathan Sanchez
Moeshit has existed long before Kyoani started making shows, and even then they usually only do novel adaptations, not original works. And EVEN THEN, it's one studio. Blaming one group that does 1 TV show a year when what you'd call moeshit has more like dozens of shows per year is dishonest at best.
Carter Jenkins
Part of impulse control is probably fantasizing about the acts instead of committing them, and all that fantasy counts somewhat as practice/planning, and so you are better prepared when you actually end up doing it.
Asher Campbell
Thats nothing new. Hutu and Tutsi have nothing on Russian, German or Balkan genocides.

You have a point. Japan also had a insane cult do a sarin attack. The effort involved in getting sarin gas into a subway shows how dedicated they are when it comes to killing people.

I remember people trying in boot camp. It just resulted in broken legs usually. Don't recall hearing if anyone succeed on killing themselves though.

the umbrella bin looked like a satanic hydra bulldog for a second
>was there only one exit in this place yes >No fire escapes yes >No windows? No, they building had windows, the likely problem is that the workers inside the building probably panicked when they hard the gasoline explosion and saw their offices filling up with smoke from the fire in the main lobby, a problem made worse by the face that there was an open spiral staircase in the lobby that caught fire, quickly filling every floor with fire and smoke. The majority of those killed were found in a staircase leading to the roof, which had an unlocked door. The problem was that it was a pull door from the inside, and the panicked and blind workers wouldn't be able to open it in a crowded staircase. Firemen were later able to open the door from the outside without a key or forcing it open.
Webm related, it's a video from inside the building, you can see the spiral staircase in the background
From the first floor window and debris spread, it is concluded that the first floor had an explosion occur, and the extensive damage to the outer wall of the 2nd and 3rd floor, show that it was very high temperture, so it is likely that an liquid like gasoline or other was used to start and make the fire bigger"
Normal fire inside a building don't reach temperature over 1000 degree, but gasoline fire can reach over 1500 degree, able to melt metal at that temperture it is impossible to breath, people on the first floor was perished quickly, 2nd and 3rd floor heard the explosion, but before had time to reach, the fire and smoke came, and they didn't had time to run/react.
Due to the unatural speed and spread of the fire, likely rising a few meter after igniting so spreading very fast, there wasn't time for the fire alarm and fire door to activate, making escape impossible, the only secure way now is to increase checking of personal item and coming in and out of building.
the building was recently constructed, having been finished in 2015
normally the front door was locked, but the guy was able to get in because they were expecting visitors from NHK(?). >why didn't they give the visitors access keys because Japan, giving them access keys instead of keeping the doors unlocked might be seen as rude
