Is the 4-cell Type 81 rig comfy to wear, relative to the 3-cell Type 56 rig? Do you have have any trouble fishing the shorter AR mags out of the AK sized cells?
What do you have in the grenade/oil can pockets on that rig, also? If nothing, you could probably stash a flashlight, multitool, or even a Baofeng in there.
I've also heard of people adding a fastex buckle to the waist strap on Chinese rigs - beats tying it down; you get a much faster and more consistent fit.

You can stuff rags in the bottom of each cell to make the mags protrude more, or just put a Magpul on each mag to make them easier to grab.
A lot of western operators seem to use the Chicom AK rig, even for ARs.

I’ll be swapping the USMC issue woobie for the snugpak poncho liner soon.
Though the woobie has come in very useful when bivouacked at high elevations the summer and the jungle bag couldn’t handle it alone.
I’ve got a standard USGI stainless steel canteen cup in one of those ALICE canteen pouches. Usually one of my mates brings a jetboil and the cup works for coffee. I pack MRE or mountain house meals so I don’t need a full messkit.
