Ultralight .22

What's the best ultralite .22 rifle? I'm looking for a rifle for bagging grouse and game birds while backpacking and lightweight is the topmost priority.

Is the AR-7 any good?

10/22 takedown.

what state is that?

Marlin Model 60 with sling

Supposedly the AR-7 has problems with pin holes opening up and causing issues. I have a Ruger 10/22 takedown in a Magpul Backpacker stock and it's pretty nifty.

Based California

>10/22 X22 backpacker stock - 4.5lb - 450+$
>AR-7 - 3.5lb - 280$
What does the 10/22 have over the AR-7 that makes it worth a whole additional pound, and hundreds more dollars.

Model 60s clock in at 5+ pounds, that ain't ultralight boy.

The AR-7 is a headache and a half assuming you get a lemon. On the off chance you don't get a lemon it's just a headache.

10/22 is actually a good gun

Had an ar-7. The breakdown is annoying a slow, mags are tiny, and it jams a lot. Also cleaning it is especially problematic. I got mine for $200 new and still wouldn't recommend
