Tourniquet if it's on a limb, chest seal if it's on the lung, pack with gauze if anywhere else. Stopping the bleeding is priority number 1. Then go to a hospital. Let them handle the bullet.

If the bullet is stuck halfway through you have to shoot it again to knock it out. The muzzle blast will cauterize the wound.

Short version = check for exit wound, cover up entry & exit wound with bandage and applied pressure, get to hospital either by driving all the way, ambulance all the way, or meeting ambulance half way.

If you use a tourniquet you leave that fucker in place for the first 2 hours and hope you have received proper medical attention by then, there is very little chance of any sort of damage within the first 2 hours.

If not then it's time to look into packing that wound and hope you can control the bleeding enough that way to remove the tourniquet then or at the very least transitioned to a tourniquet close to the wound if you used high and tight positioning originally.

Past that is the 6 hour mark, you don't remove a tourniquet after 6 hours you let medical professionals remove it and most likely the rest of the limb below that.

The big question still is:
What the fuck do you do if there simply is NO HOSPITAL, NO doctors?
As in, WTF do them doctors do exactly, and how well can that be replicated? Following that, what could be the 2nd best form of treatment?

Hemostatic gauze like Quick Clot Combat Gauze or Celox Rapid for wound packing for junctional wounds. Learning how to use chest seals isn’t covered in Stop The Bleed but learning how to use what is the equivalent to a sticker is somewhat simple.

I have that book. It's much more about how to provide basic healthcare in a 3rd world village with no health clinic. It has useful info, but assumes you will get the patient to a proper hospital at some point. There must be books about field expedient trauma surgery somewhere, but I have yet to find one.

well first you need to stop the bleeding or contain it, Ive seen med pros use some gauze that they pack into the wound until it stops bleeding, then sterilize it cuz infections are bad, then get a curved needle and some strong thread, idk fishing line maybe, and sew it up
or just go to the hospital and let the pros do it while you sit on a morphine drip. Oh and dont dig the bullet out, most times doctors leave them in, you could fuck shit up worse if you go digging.
