I would recommend poly water drums or aluminum that are prevalent in the activated alumina industry.

ok so, lets take a systematic approach. assuming you have nothing other than a shelter, we'll start by allocating funds to major areas:

* food - $1000 - prefer dry to wet, prefer non-perishable, prefer caloric density. don't bother with more than a case or two of MREs.
* water - $750 - as much filtration and storage as your logistics can accommodate. prefer filter/purification capacity over storage capacity.
* medical - $750 - two or three ifaks, and a ton of basic medical supplies including protective clothing and nbc equipment. cheap geiger counter.
* communications & navigation - $500 - baofeng, antennas, gps, compass, maps
* clothing & gear - $1000 - plate carrier setup, some crye combat pants, boots
* defense - $2000 - PSA AR, holosun, 22lr pistol, and lots of ammo

My survival kit assumes I'll be able to find water and purify it with tabs or boiling but to each their own. Water is fucking heavy and needs to be stashed before boogalo.

stashing tons of water is both not easy and probably stupid. if you're living somewhere without significant rainfall for a catchment system, it may be time to reconsider the consequences of significant infrastructure disruption to your living arrangements. boiling is a good option, distilling and mineral replacement even better. but diversify: know how to rig improvised filters from sand and a sock, have some lifestraws and/or a katadyn, look into a reverse osmosis system and rain catchment, etc.

Basically all of my long range/trip backpacking gear. Doubling and tripling up on the essentials like extra boots, filtration, shelter and first aid supplies. and dehydrated/non-perishable food. Add in booze and weed because you’re gonna need something to take the edge off of reality now and again to get some sleep. Ghee and honey are top 2 food items to have.

Weapons are much lower on the priority list than all of these faggots think, although if you’re in an urban environment you can’t get out of the usefulness is much higher.

LOL. Normally I use .308 for deer and elk. Deer you can use 5,56 no problem with good placement under 200y. During an elk hunt last year I was thinking about how shady it'd be to try to take a 700 lb elk down with a 5,56 round, even at close distance. I feel you'd have to be real fucking sure with a head or neck shot. Need that HAMMER of .308 if you're going for an ethical body shot.
