it fails to fire except for when i manually charge it. not sure why, i've looked all over everything. been too lazy to send it in but im not burned on PTR over it.

i mostly got it for the bull barrel but the handguard is a nice plus, minus needing 3 different sizes to fuck with all the screws on it. 1 size for attachments. 1 for attaching it to a clamp that also guides the main screw. 1 for the main screw (big one) that secures it.
you only really never need to remove the main one, but it's still stupid.

My dad has one and I have two PTRs and an FAL. The M1A is definitely the more fun range gun even tho I carry the FAL as a woods gun.

Been toying with the idea of getting a c308 but the horror stories keep me away. That and they don't have the H&K rear drumsight

well whenever ptrs pop back up then a ptr91 gi is usually under $1k but only just.
however they work and have the good sights.

which one should I get? is it worth the money to get the IBR? or should I just save that money for mags and ammo? I'm a short guy and I'm worried a standard stock might be too long to shoot comfortably.

So I'm looking to get a DSA FAL here in the next week, but I hear they're more picky about what ammo you use than PTRs are. I haven't had any issues with running bulk lacquered steel through my PTR, but what brass do you guys recommend, and if you buy bulk, what kind of options do you look for?

AmmoSeek has some decent price deals, but from some odd sites and the lower end brass ammo is all that Ethiopian berdan shit or corroded surplus. What do y'all think?

honestly Ive had good luck with the malyasian rounds surprisingly. I may have gotten lucky but ive bought a few cans and they all were sealed extremely tight and havent had a sing faliure. The best surplus right now is the austrian Hirtenberger. Thats stuff is amazing. But the price has gonna on quite a bit since i bought it a year or so ago.

newer ones are boxer primed. Older ones are berdan primed and clamped. I forgot the year cut off date. But generally where its in stock will specify which one you're getting.

The stock is sturdy and tacticool, but has the worst cheekweld ever.
If you want a compact G3, get a side-folding stock.

I chanced it and bought a case. Ammo was actually in good shape and shot fine. Not match grade, but not the worst shit I've run through my L1A1. I brought windex to the range though. So far so good after 120 rounds. Just clean your gun with windex afterward and you're good.
