nothing is set in stone but the sky is darkening.
even without the shootings, we'd be here within 6-8 months anyway with the election. this just kick started it early.

I figured I might as well pick up a colt before that's no longer possible.

For handguns, would a semi be best? Revolvers aren't picky with ammo and don't have to feed after each shot. I don't have to worry about jams but semi autos can carry more rounds.

Semiauto handguns have two obvious advantages and a disadvantage:
+Far smaller & slimmer
+More rounds and easier to reload
±DAO's and DA/SA's usually have a second strike on a hard primer
-Bad rounds cause stoppages

It's the year 1911+108 so personally I'd carry a G26, G43, or P365 instead of a revolver.

The 5.56x45 NATO is the standard. You will be able to use .223 ammunition in that gun (but not vice versa).

If you're a big reloader you can look at .300 blackout. Generally though, if this is your first AR, get 5.56
