So, honourable and most helpful user, I'm poking around in this iMapBC contraption and becoming rather angrily frustrated (as per usual on any government-designed site) and hoping for confirmation that an ancient (10+ years) PDF I found elsewhere was actually right about it being sort of somewhat okay to shoot around Coquitlam Lake. It's but an hour's bus ride from Vancouver, then maybe a half hour to an hour hike to get alongside this lake. Never been there, but it sure would be a nifty discovery to find that one could in fact go up there and shoot a little bit. Just some .22lr, nothing fancy. Well, maybe a 9mm carbine when I get one, but no rush on that.

Unfortunately iMapBC is a bitch and just doesn't seem to want me to understand much of anything about using it. Is there a secret handshake? A codeword? Searching 'shoot' or 'shooting' bring zero results. Nothing even for 'sport.'

I don't think they have official maps for shooting firearms on the site. Be careful since I know there are plenty of bylaws down at the coast too. I would google "north Coquitlam target shooting" or something just to be safe. Though I bet all the land without a map overlay is crown too, just not surveyed crown land. BC is 94% crown after all.

I agree that iMapBC is pretty shit and only renders the maps once you are zoomed in quite close. Plus it needs a connection. I honestly don't know much about using it but I would probably export it somehow for offline use once I have determined a safe spot for shooting.

if it helps i went to KM16 of the chehalis service road to shoot last i went out. it appears to be out of the no shooting boundary for that stupid fucking law that passed and it doesn't seem to be anything but crown land. in addition there were plenty of signs that it was used often for shooting.

1.5 years ago, due to a seties of bad ocurrences, I hit a low point in my life that made me really depressed and seeked psychiatric help. I have always been interested in gums amd everyone that knows me is aware that I would be a responsible, law abidong gun owner.

How likely it is that my PAL application be accepted? Should I wait the full 5 years? How long ia the CFSA valid for? If I need to wait before I apply, could I still take the course now and use it to apply in 3.5 years?

I do not have personal experience with this (answered no to all those questions), but every time this is asked, people say you will be fine. Especially if you lie on the application. I have seen people on here report that their apps went through just fine even with their mental health histories.

I have been going to an indoor range every week for the past few months. Do ranges like that make that info available to the RCMP when processing applications? I mean, if so, then they could also see I am serious about taking up target shooting as an activity and support my application.
