Turkey reveals new +200 KM range ship to ship / surface to ship missile. It's going to replace harpoon missiles in Turkish inventory. This comes after various navies place themselves in Eastern Med and crisis with Cyprus. In another field Turkey removes the American leash.

Considering how their other "domestic" projects are just copies of something someone else made, what'd they clone this from?

probably the leopard

It's a german/korean mutt.

Leopard is confirmed to be a pile of shit.

It doesn't matter if they're copies or not, for Turkey being able to produce and maintain their military equipment with as little parts produced abroad as possible is beneficial since then arms embargoes will have less effect on their military operations.

If they gonna plan something very stupid they will end like Iraq and all their stuff will be destroyed in a large turkey shooting event.

They're not planning anything big, arms embargoes has been a common occurrence every time they do their counter insurgency operations. Not relying entirely on foreign arms whose supplies can be cut unless you follow German politicians' every whim is a good thing.

Altay is mostly based on Korean K2 tank. And K2 is based on Leopard2.

True. Mid 70's, Turkish military mostly used American made weapon systems. After the embargoes, military officials realised that without domestic military industry, it will be impossible for them to protect Turkey against western forces. And so in mid 70's, first military corporations were found with the order of PM. These corps started to develop domestic projects, but realised that they were too far behind compared to the rest of the world. They started slow and solved some of the minor needs for armed forces. For bigger projects, they had to work with other countries and transfer the technology. With the experience gained by the technology transfer and production of these "copies", we will be able to come up with our own unique designs.
For example T129 ATAK assault helicopter is based on Agusta A129. But if you search for "ATAK 2" on youtube, you'll see that it's design is not based on any other existing heli. Engine and nose cannon fot T129 is American made. Rest of the heli is made in Turkey. Soon, engine will be Turkish made too. And ATAK 2 will be %100 Turkish from the beginning.

4 of those companies founded in mid 70's are in top 100 right now.

hey thats pretty neat

by raging homosexuals

no, by their performance in Syria

>In another field Turkey removes the American leash.
Absolutely seeting kebab.
Maybe actually innovate instead of just churning out low effort copies?

Got a low signature booster propellant. The booster is practically the same though. Sophisticated DESU, heres an actual Harpoon smoke for comparison youtube.com/watch?v=BNnbpsKG-pg

bla bla attack from the west
the only western country that would attack you is greece, you are just wasting your money

Is there ANY tank that has performed above expectations in the ISIS boogaloo?
The M1A2 has been burned by the dozen, the T-90A made its debut in the turret tossing championships, the Leo 2 got smoked and various slavshit tank has been wrecked in droves.

Its like anything can be shitty in the hands of morons.

seems like modern TOWs are cheap and do their job

'Turkish'

It's Chinese, they have a tech transfer agreement going on and China considers MTCR to be a joke when there's money to be made.

[citation needed]

When operated by Turkroaches. Just like Abrams have proven to be pile of shit when operated by Saudis and Iraqis.

T129 is A129-variant made under license.

nigger., doesn't matter who operates them. when a good tank is hit, it shouldn't look like this.

Leopard = piece of shit
Abrams = piece of shit

there's a reason why US bought Israeli Trophy for Abrams.

Konkurs and old Metis are wrecking the shit out of any armor that's currently in Syria. Leopard performed the worst.

>Leopard performed the worst.
I doubt that. Turkey initially used M60's. Those performed far worse than Leopards. Main problem roaches have with their tank operations is the lack resolve send large infantry units into Syria. Their tanks operate with badly trained Arab militias as their infantry support. Let this sink to your head. They let slightly less moderate beheaders into position where they can take out SPG battery with ATGM's.

I don't even go into Russian trash used by Syrians and various rebel groups.

That's what he said you absolute fucking retard.

>I doubt that.
Leopard performed the worst of all tanks Turkey used.
>Turkey initially used M60's. Those performed far worse than Leopards.
No, less M60s where destroyed in Al bab and Afrin combined with hardly and Leopards being used in Afrin at all due to German pressure.

Leopards are shit and Germans need to finally realize this when a 50 year old American tank with some modern Israeli defense systems on it manage to perform better than it.

The Abrams did far worse than the Leo 2, being whooped by fagot missiles in some cases.

>the T-90A made its debut in the turret tossing championships
wait, what? I must have missed this, I only saw one case where it took a minor hit to the front of the turret but the crew bailed anyway

There are more photos out there but this is the first one on google. A T-90A turret, flipped and burnt.

And here’s the hull said turret used to sit on.
The tank basically T-72’d, which isn’t so strange for a tank that was supposed to be the T-72BU until Uncle Sam made T-72 a dirty word.

Ouch, isn't there only a couple of hundred of those that Russia has? Must sting losing them in a backwater country like Syria.

Yup, they are pretty rare as far as tanks go.
Only a couple has seen any combat and they have been used with care though, which is why there aren’t that many pictures of them wrecked.
Here’s another that burned rather than pop, modern desensitized explosives denying it a spot in the championship.
The blurred spot is where a very toasty and not quite in one piece tank driver is having a nap.

Just some licensed construction, because T*rks can't come up with own decent designs.

Abrams would perform the same against semi-modern anti tank weapons.

Turk detected.

Licensed from who?

Lolno, a true Abrams, not monkey model, can shrug off Kornets from the rear.

M60's were pulled off the frontline really fast due to losses. If M60's were doing fine, roaches would have never bothered to send in Leopard 2's.

>Crisis with Cyprus
That's been a thing for over 40 years.

The K2 which itself is derived from the Leclerc.

Let me guess. They took a license produced Harpoon, slapped a Turkish flag on it, and called it a new domestic missile.

Heard that their rocket artillery advancement take a lot from Yugo MRLS homegrown projects(courtesy of bosnia). They might have picked up the Nora as well.

Anyone have concrete info on this?

Atmaca is half a meter longer and 200 kgs heavier than Harpoon

You are looking at a genuine anti-ship missile.
