It went all the way up to f91, the design is just as tired as it's faction. The federation really needs to showcase newer mobile suits because all they ever show are gms, jegans, guntanks, and various mobile armors. There is no excuse to keep rehashing a tired design in an attempt to merchandize the franchise even more when we are literally 40 years into the Gundam franchise

Let's be real here. Gundam has established a visual shorthand, particularly in the UC timeline but absolutely prevalent beyond it.

If you want to argue that the Federation should do more exotic suits, sure, fine. But what they have works for them in-universe and is out of universe is certainly less merchandisable than the 3,000 different suits the various flavors of spacen*ids have cooked up.

Ok, I certainly see your point, but still, I wish the Federation had a lot more variety of suits but not as much as every other faction. I'd be content if they added at least 4-5 new Federation suits other than what was previously mentioned. But right now I feel as though the grunt suits for new UC Gundam are still lacking in creativity but I see why because the federation doesn't really need new suits when they can just throw a couple of Gundams with BS newtype powers or some shit to do all the dirty work for them. God how the mighty have fallen.

I agree that some specialist suits outside of the GM or Jegan lineage would be cool. We see some of that in Unicorn with the RGZ-95 ReZELs (which is sort of a mass-produced Zeta) and the one Delta Plus (which is descended from the same Delta Gundam as the Hyaku-Shiki) Londo Bell uses. What's neat is that the ReZEL in its waverider mode can be used to give Jegans a ride, so it fulfills a support role in addition to being a high-spec specialized suit. If the Hathaway's Flash trilogy gives us some Carl Gustafs and more Delta Pluses and ReZELs operating with Jegans and Jestas I'd be happy with that. Granted, I'm certainly biased in all this because I've loved the Jegan since I first saw it.
