Fleet Farm

So im getting a job at Fleet Farm as a firearm specialist. Anything I should know about working retail gun sales? The manger hiring me got all excited when I told her I know how to mount laser sights, flashlights and other modern tech that the fudds working there now tell people they dont need. Also she was excited to hear that i know how to field strip ar and ak platforms that the old fudds try to stear customers away from with the old "you don't need an AyR fiFTeeN for hunting just get yaself a nice double barrel." Sorry if not posting right this is my first thread.

There's going to be alot of aloof, insecure tacticool retards that think they're experts because of online weapons forums.

>know how to mount sights and flashlights
am i missing something or is this not basic?
t. guy who has none of that shit on any of his guns

>field stripping gets someone giddy
how do i apply to a place like this, i'd feel like a god.

working a corporate level retail chain is life sucking and honestly not worth it in any capacity. I would rather be homeless and starving then work retail ever again.

This and they wear flecktarn ,WalMart Hawaiian shirts, and meme patches.

>you dont need what you want, you need what i want you to want
Fucking boomers sound like feds.

The people they put behind the shelf most of the time really only know how to work the bolt and safety.

The real money is in selling accessories not guns. Remember to tell all of your customers that the products on amazon are factory seconds and wont last

Op here apperently the guy they have working now thinks that all accessorys you can mount on a gun besides a basic 4x9 magnification scope is nothing but junk. And the fudd wont mount even red dots or HALO sights unless the person can prove they are law enforcment or military because " civilans should not have combat sights or whats wrong with iron sights i dident need them in nam."

This is a bait thread, nobody would tell you that

The Mills' sold out and the place is shit now.

lucky bastard i love fleet farm.

just be patient and have a good attitude.

this is too fudd to be true and i dont know how he'd keep his job.

That's not even a lie most of the time. If it's in Amazon's warehouse, you're taking a gamble on getting the real product. So much chink knock off stuff out there, not just in firearms either.

i love watching logcabinlooms i wish he would do a little more woodworking

cool larp op

hi i asked for channels to save "just in case" before and this was one of them.
if anything ever happens this will be a place to get 99.9% of his stuff, if not 100%.
it'll be a month before it's updated daily along with everything else on the account.
wanted to spread word cuz otherwise efforts are useless

I like watching him cook pancakes in lard and bitch about Israel or ride his motorcycle

Prepare for the most miserable, life-sucking job you'll ever do. Like guns and shooting? Your job will make you hate everyone and everything related to it. Stick it out for a year and try to move to the manufacturing or distribution level. Way fewer retards and much better pay.
t. 2 years in firearms retail, now inside sales for a big name manufacturer

I sold guns at cabela's for a year and a half. It wasn't the worst job, but I had excuses to not have to deal with customers all day. It wasn't just the customers either. Only a hand full of guys I worked with were competent. The rest were either lazy fucks, dipshits, or senile. No fudds though.

The customer is never right. Seriously. Fuck everybody that sets foot through the doorway and assume they're all idiots.

>t. gun shop worker

cool larp

if that store only carries .22lr, 9mm luger, .308, .223, and 12 gauge, prepare to tell literally everyone who walks up to you "sorry, we dont sell that".

Sounds like she wants you to sell and use your knowledge to push product. Sounds like the fudds are hampering their ability to move product.

this guy gets it im leaving my gunshop job most ppl around guns are retards and assholes they always know better than you, prepare to spend time with someone and they leave never buy "ill be back later"

I've gotten i'll be back later all the time. I tell them that unless they put it on layway it ain't gonna be here though. Then layaway went away and the store instead did 5 day holds instead. Managing the shit people say they'll be back for later was basically a part time job. I was one of the few full timers and I spent half of my day dealing with that shit. Then people get pissed a month later that it's gone.

Now, I do get the hagglers who pull a "I'll go somewhere else" all the time. Even with guns we don't carry and can't order due to whatever they get super belligerent and threaten to take their business else where to buy the specific gun we don't carry. I don't really believe these people are serious though. You really have to try very hard to be that retarded.

you dont think it could be because the "good" customers simply buy and walk away with little memorable interactions?

>2.25 per hour
Yikes! Do you Americans actually do this?

OP here. According to what the manager told me i can start out at $17-21 an hour. Plus i have 5% comison for every sale that I complete. Idk to me that seems like a good pay, but then again I've only worked shitty fast food and gas station jobs

Holy fuck I make 9 at my shop

If you're early 20's that's good money. Plus if you're good at sales you can probably make a good living with that commission.

Lol you'll start at $14. Manager is averaging in commission snd jerking you off because you're excited. Prepare to be fucked over.

No we know all the regulars, if you ever worked in a shop you can tell if someone is going buy or waste your time, 17 to 21 is damn good pay we dont get commissions our gunsmiths dont even make 17hr

2.25 per hour EXTRA on Saturday and Sunday

This 100%

Just make sure that whenever you see a guy who looks like he's in his mid 20's, try to stare him down with a look of fear and treat him as if he is a potential school shooter. Like, if you see him looking at handguns or he ask's you something like "is that a 10.5 inch sbr? or an 11.5 inch sbr?" IMMEDIATELY ask him if he is 21 or older or ask him what his intentions are for wanting one, or my personal favorite. Tell him that you'll have to get the manager to answer that one.

This
Make sure to be the biggest asshole you can to literally everyone in the store, and alienate as many people as possible that are newer to the hobby or don't have experience with the specific firearm they want

i'd just resign and get a real job, something that doesn't pay hourly, something that actually uses your undergrad degree.

ou don't want to be the type of dude working retail

you deserve to be making more than $10/hour seriously, aim for something 65k or more
