Youngins Starting Collections

I'm sorta hoping I can get some recommendations as I go forward starting a collection. I've already got myself some of the basics such as a pistol (Colt 1911), shotgun (Remington 870), assault rifle (WASR-10), and a single action (Uberti Colt Navy 1851 conversion). I've come to a point where I'm unsure of what to pick up next. Part of me wants to go forward with getting a Winchester 1892 for some lever action 357. fun, but I'm sure the practical move would be to go for a rifle chambered in 5.56. And if the later is the case should I either go for a twenty inch barrel Colt AR15A4 or a Ruger Mini-14 (I'm a sucker for wood furniture)?

Also is the surplus market dead for young guys like me. Seems like I was too late to buy up any of the rifles for reasonable prices, especially some of the ammo. I just can't bring myself to spend so much on 8mm Mauser. Already have a Type 99 I inherited so I don't see much of a point in just being one as a "wall hanger". Any advice is appreciated Jow Forums.

Im not very experienced in the world of collecting but I can give you my 1.5 cents. I dont like to buy any guns that will depreciate in value like something in production, even if its pristine you wont be able to sell for the same price if its used. Ive bought a beretta 71, beretta 92S, mosin nagant 1891/30, uberti repro Walker (depreciating i know), a star bm for my father, and i traded a pietta 1851 and cash for a heavily modded 1861 springfield. Do you have anything in .22lr yet? Heres some things I want to get eventually, maybe it will give you some inspiration.

Any model of Automag
reamed Pedersoli Sharps for .45-110
SxS percussion shotgun
S&W steel framed auto in 10mm or .45acp
DA .22lr revolver for colibri cartridges
Blued DA Gasser revolver (in my dreams)
.45acp AR "pistol" with a form 1
Beretta 96 slide (which ive heard is compatible with B92 frames, but nobody has posted proof)

Sorry if any of this doesnt make sense, im really sleepy rn and i should be heading out

I guess my collection should be considered for my own personal enjoyment, I'm not aiming for any of it to be an investment as of yet. As of now I'm trying to establish an all around inclusion of the basics every firearm owner should have. As for the .22lr, is it really necessary? I've had the chance to shoot them on many occasions but I've never really enjoyed it. Is it supposed to serve more as a consideration for others in the context that your're introducing them to firearms?

Should have mentioned I will have to wait another 2 years until I'll be legally able to purchase handguns for myself. I live in Illinois, where although I have a FOID and can possess handguns firearms transferred into my ownership I can't buy them until I'm 21. I'm lucky in that I have wonderful relatives that got me my two current handguns as gifts. To actually ask them to buy them for me outside of that context would seem a bit inappropriate and more like a straw purchase.

Attached: 1551999336259.jpg (640x631, 36K)

All my handguns were purchased by my father with my money and I'll legally own them once im 21, currently i just sentimentally own them and maintain them etc. .22lr is fun to me but its more valuable as a utilitarian thing. Its perfect for shooting critters and pests but that wont be a problem if you live in a dense city. Even if you dont particularly enjoy .22lr compared to other cartridges keep in mind you could have 6 .22lr for the price of 1 .45acp. I dont see guns strictly as an investment but I don't want to waste alot of money on them. Also look into aguila's colibri .22lr cartridges. Theyre about as powerful as a good pellet gun and silent out of long barrels, sounds like a percussion cap out of a 3.5in barrel. About $.07 per shot. No chance at cycling anything though

You've already got a rifle in an intermediate cartridge (the WASR) you don't need a 5.56 too. If you want a lever gat for fun get it. As far as practical guns that you don't have you need a .22 rifle for small game (Ruger 10-22) and a hunting rifle for large game (Savage 110 in 30-06). A 9mm handgun wouldn't be a bad idea either.

Attached: k approved durr rifles.jpg (1746x1562, 333K)

You don't think he should go bigger for hunting? The .308 isnt much different from .30-06. Either one would work though, a 1300fps lead ball would do.

I'm actually covered regarding a hunting rifle for large game, also inherited a Browning BAR in 7mm Remington. Didn't include it as I feel it's the most impractical firearm I own as I don't hunt game other than pheasant. And would a rifle chambered in 357. not serve as a functional gun for small game? Also, already stated I have to hold off regarding Handguns. But for a 9mm I'm deciding between a Beretta 92 or a Glock 17. Still wish the Browning Hi-Power was still in production.

30-06 can kill anything in North America

And .308/7.62x51 was made to match .30-06 with a smaller higher-pressure cartridge

I love the beretta 92 for the aesthetics and the really fast disassembly but most people will agree its kinda fugin big for 9mm. Not saying you shouldnt get it, thats just my opinion. Ive never fired a glock btw.

I guess since we're talking about 308./7.62x51, are battle rifles a meme? I've been looking at a PTR91 for down the line but it seems like it's not worth it.

>aesthetics

In all honesty same. I'm not looking for a pistol to conceal carry so size isn't really factor in the purchase. Besides that issue though would you give it a stellar review?

Attached: 1488328784814.jpg (400x386, 29K)

I dont see why not. Some would argue its overkill for humans within 100m but bigger is better i suppose. I'd like one but I have no business dropping more money on guns rn

I really like my b92S but I havent owned enough autos to give you any good comparisons. Id say a DA/SA autoloader with double stack mags is the best handgun you can get, beretta included. I really love the disassembly though. Its really easy to field strip this thing but complete (i mean every fucking part) disassembly is tough.

Oh FUGG, I didn't know to field strip was that easy. That some sexy ass shit right there. I tend to hate disassembly for my 1911 so this just might further incentivize a purchase. Thanks user

Attached: 1505791554563.jpg (500x548, 60K)

I was just thinking about the 1911 style disassembly and comparing mentally. Completely disassembly of every part on a 1911 is easy but fuck doing that on a b92, keep that shit in a plastic bag whenever you remove a part bc something will fly. You wouldnt need to do that on a b92 unless it was rusty anyways.

Also no problem bro its been fun talking with you, im boutta head out

Fuck forgot 1 more thing i gotta mention about the b92 before i sleep. The easy disassembly lever is fun for messing with friends and senpai. U can depress the button and the lever holding the gun by the slide and offer the gun to someone by the grip. Tell them "hold this", theyll naturally grab it, then you pull away the slide leaving them confused with half of the gun in their hand. I know it sounds autistic but its hilarious especially if theyre noobs

get a 20" AR. it's pretty much the perfect combat rifle, it will never be cheaper than now, and you'll regret it if the music stops playing.

Should I be an absolute shit and go for the Colt AR15A4 then?

Is it really worth it to buy a revolver user? I feel that a double stack 9mm is more of a priority here.

.308 and .30-06 have the same size bullet. Only difference is, .308 has a shorter case.

That was my point

Get further into revolvers. You haven’t really even begun to scratch the depths of the hobby if you haven’t owned a S&W model 10

>(Colt 1911)
I hope this is just a nogunz mistake, because an actual Colt 1911 is a pretty poor choice to make compared to other mid-end 1911s.

it isn't 1969 any more elmer, there are loadings for 30-06 which are considerably hotter than 308

Absolutely not. Look at BCM or FN; both have 20 inchers, both are super fuckin dope. No reason outside of rollmarks to buy Colt.

Based model 10 poster.

It isnt 1906 anymore, Stonewall. Mayhaps OP should step it up another notch and get Supamaxx Nigblaster HyperX .45-70 just incase those whitetails are feeling thicc buffalobore.com/index.php?l=product_detail&p=151

Afraid it was somewhat of a mistake, it was a gift from my father without my knowledge. If I had to guess he probably got upsold, but I still love the government model regardless.

Why would you call it that? Just say ak you fucking sperg. Calling it that basically shows you are a weak willed cuck that fell for msm news about banning guns.

Hey Smith & Wesson user, thanks for the info. I'm definitely looking into grabbing a revolver after first purchasing a Beretta 92 when I'm legally able to in the next couple of years. Although I'm wondering what model I should pursue. Definitely looking either a 36, 10, 29, or a 642. May I have some input on these if you have experience with them?

Fine, is referring to it as a rifle that fires an intermediate cartridge more to your liking? Just faster to type out quicker user.

Attached: 2.0 v.png (788x872, 1.32M)

get a stgw57 for 500 bucks, they're worth it

Glocks are more simple, 1 trigger pull to learn instead of 2, lighter. You can get the size of gun that suits you the best, a 17, 19 etc while with a 92... there's no real choice you can make here. Just my $0.2 anyway

It is overkill and bigger isn't always better. I can shoot a gun chambered in 7.62x39 or 223 much faster than one in 308... Unless you are a great shot and are big enough to easily counter 308's recoil I wouldn't go for one, or only for fun

The Turks make a faithful repro. They're even available in stainless.

I love the jet li maneuver too.
