What is Jow Forums's favorite .22lr? Thinking about getting one soon. I would prefer one with rear aperture sights, but I think you can just get skinner sights installed on any of them.

Heritage Rough Rider. approximately $100, and everything you need for a 22lr firearm. rifles are too big, expensive, and this is a plinking caliber anyway. any pistol besides the rough rider is going to be too much gun for a cartridge that is only ever going to be shot at steel or paper or squirrels. just get a cheap gun and get it out of your system.

a full auto 22lr would be fun of course but FA makes everything fun.

Attached: pepe.jpg (303x328, 16K)

you can still get crank triggers can't you?

i like my 10/22, works well and there are lots of large mag options

I like them as well

What is it for?

I don't want a pistol

Well you can just fuck right off then and figure it out for yourself

Ruger 10/22 or a Savage Mk II.

Pumps run everything like a dream. Autos are stuck up prom queens so they don't like some ammo but will run fine on others. Mostly CCI mag or rapter or other tac cool specialist round.
> in before mini mag is a common not specialist round..
>yes CCI is a tac cool specialist round.

I think I am trying to decide between a 10-22 (regular or take down) and a henry (classic or golden boy)

Get a 10/22 and put it in a bullpup chassis

Attached: A185A4F4-49AF-475A-A6AE-8B6592AC8E9E.jpg (1536x4014, 907K)

oof, a golden boy would be fun i'll admit

I've seen a few and that is by far the raddest. What is that?

Or this. That's what makes the 10/22 so great, so many dif shells to slap on them.

Does it feel like a real SAA? Not when you're firing it, but when you're fingering it.

Don't get a 10/22. I had one and sold it. Glock level boring.

extremely fun to shoot, cheap, doesn't travel nearly as far as .223 or other fuckaround cartriges. I bring a .22 camping usually. technically shooting in the national forest where i live is legal but highly, and i mean highly frowned apon. with a .22 nobody can even hear me.

I mean, it feels like a low price, solid little gun.
The fit and finish are nowhere what you would find on a modern SAA (obviously)
The trigger is great, tho.

10/22s are great. Love my J.C. Higgins model 41. Chamebered in .22 S. L. and LR. Trigger is very lite and its break is perfect. Very accurate and the long barrel makes it quiet as hell.

Attached: 20190809_140358.jpg (4032x3024, 3.19M)

word is the takedowns are appreciably less accurate

Thanks, it’s made by center balance systems. I am embarrassed to say the chassis was more expensive than the rifle. But I wanted it, so...

Ruger Mk IV of some kind. 22/45 if you like the 1911 grip angle, regular version if you're more of a 55 degree Glock person. Ruger doesn't sell a 4" threaded bull barrel, but if they did, that would be what I would recommend.
>this is a plinking caliber anyway
NO. 22lr is fine for plinking, but in a decent gun it's also just about the most practical round you can come by for small game hunting, general innawoods, and "survival". It's also the only game in town that's even plausibly hearing safe to shoot suppressed without ear pro.

fudd lore, they are the same.

I got a scratch off like last april, won $150. Bought a mossberg 702 plinkster, because it was $149 including 4473. It's a pretty good .22. Accurate enough to consistently hit clay birds in a holder at 75yds. Put a few thousand rds of the cheapest ammo available when I was at the store through it so far. A few stovepipes, but whetev. Gun cost me $4 if you count what I spent on the ticket

I've never a glock

Winchester model 52 or one of the other milsurp 22lr trainers if you want a non-shit 22 with aperture sights and don't have $4000.

Attached: serveimage.jpg (800x518, 63K)

Isn't it cheaper just to get get a cz or a golden boy and add skinner sights?

My canadian importer Anschutz but good fucking luck finding one, I got lucky as hell

Attached: 20190713_161834.jpg (1643x602, 241K)

My h&r 22
>round doesn’t fire, simply pull trigger again instead of clearing jam
>top break for speed loads
>got it cheap
Yup they sure dont make em like they used to

Cheaper yes, but nowhere near the same level of quality. The model 52s are true match grade guns. The CZs are excellent rifles and probably the best value for the money, but not quite match grade. The henry rifles are toys.

It's a .22lr, they all are toys

To be fair 10/22s are cheap. I just saw an add today for $250 new. Further, that looks really nice. It's not uncommon for cheapo 10/22 stocks/chassis to be $200-300 so I'm not surprised.

Do you regret it or are you happy you got it?

The only one I've seen that I've really liked is the Aklys P90 cosplay. Pic related

I'd argue with you on the CZ point. I have a 455 trainer that I'd put against almost any match rifle on the market. With an aftermarket sight setup and quality ammo, they're scary accurate. I know more than a few people who are cleaning up local rimfire matches with them shooting against Anshutz and the like. A lot of that may boil down to shooter but I'd still wager they're about as good as you can buy.

hurr youtube.com/watch?v=OUM1r_444CY

annies.

Though if you want a really accurate 22 target rifle to invest in, I have a Remington 40X HB with original serialed bolt that I will be selling on GB soon.
You can shoot the thumbtacks out of your buddies target with it. Most groups shot at 50 ft can be covered with a dime with any ammo.

Anyone have experience with the .22 Walther PPKs? I want a PPK for the style but don't want to spend the kind of money you need for a 380 and I also want a 22 plinker, seemed like a good compromise. But I have heard issues with their build quality because they aren't made by Walther.

That 45-70 is beautiful

If you don't want a pistol and don't mind buying used get an older model 60. They go for 125$ on Armslist where I live and they are really nice guns.

>buying .22lr for self defense instead of using an actual rifle caliber

I believe a CZ with good aftermarket sights could be competitive in local matches, but "as good as you can buy" is a big claim. The action might be capable of it, but you'd need to do a lot of work to get it up to the same level as an Anschutz 54, Bleiker, or Walther match rifle. At minimum you'd need a longer free-floated heavy barrel, barrel tuner, adjustable or custom fitted stock, and a better trigger.

Who are you quoting?

Been wanting to add a top break revolver to my collection as well. Post pics.

>completely failing to understand what the video is talking about but bitching about it anyway

1911 famas

Charger pistol is the best.

>hey bro, how high you want your sights?

pretty gun, user

my buddy has one of the boy scout winchesters, was mint condition before his grandfather died. pretty fun, fairly inconsistent accuracy, and heavy. totally worth shooting it instead of selling for big bucks though, friend didnt want to sell it even though he got an offer for like $2500

Attached: boy scout winchester.jpg (2592x1728, 260K)

452 Ultra Lux with Brno Apertures.

Brno Model 4 with Apertures would be better.
Anschutz 64 action better than that.
Anschutz 54 if you can spend $1500+
Remington 40X with a modern aftermarket trigger under 2 pounds can tun with a Anschutz 54.
Anschutz will have a better stock.
Walther and Suhl get honorable mention.
Sako Finnfire Target is nice.
Sako Quad Target replaced the Finnfire.
Tikka 1 or Finnfire if you're want a scoped squirrel gun.
CZ 457 for open sights or scope depending on the model.

All those options and all I want is to find a good deal on a Nylon 66

Why not both? get a basic 10/22, and the henry classic.

My favorite .22 is my AR15 with a .22 bolt.

I've got one. It is picky about ammo. It only likes high velocity rounds. Other than that it's fine.

Vudoo gunworks V-22

betcha that bipod bounces

Haven't shot it so I cant say for sure, but I plan to buy a cz457 and use it for long range subsonic plinking. Its 24 inch barrel with subsonics will be about as quiet as you can get without a can. Effective out to 135 yards according to videos I've seen.

Top one is my dads old Nylon, he won it at a turkey shoot when he was young and now it's mine. A great gun.

Middle is a Smith and Wesson, bought 6 days before sandy hook and all that AR madness, for rapid squirrel removal.

Bottom one is a Savage Mark 3 with a bull barrel, I've killed just about everything you can in NC besides bears and cougars with this. A very nice bolt action.

i dont have squirrels and never really encountered them to the extent that i "know" squirrels. why are they a pest?

PMACA stock is where its at

What is saa

Pros:

-It's a good caliber for first time shooters (I know there are others)

-Fun to shoot in general, and ammunition is very cheap (around 4 to 5 cents per rd.)

-Suppresses well

-Good for small game/pest control

Cons:

I have a hard time saying anything bad about .22lr, because any "cons" are really just outside of what the caliber is intended for, but just in case you were unaware of its limitations...

-Marginal power for medium/large game or defense (better than nothing however and semi-autos can be fired rapidly accurately)

-Rimfire ammunition is innately less reliable than centerfire ammunition, but with a good firearm/mags/ammo combo it shouldn't be a problem other than an occasional dud.

Attached: Ruger 1022 ISR.jpg (1280x720, 92K)

If you look around at pawn shops, these and the Mossberg trainers can be had for $100. Crazy, but true.

Well, they can be a pest by taking over you attic/bird houses/bird feeders, bringing fleas and ticks into your yard, but I hunt and eat em'. Squirrels taste good to me, but I like the gamey taste of wildlife, and I mostly stew them.

post link to this

my favorite .22lr would have to be my colt new frontier, although I do like my mauser 340b patrone and my post-war ppk.

Oh, yeah, can't forget the naa mini.

30-30 my guy, but thank you

Usually have the Tech Sights on it which give a good, if not match fine, sight picture. So nice and clear with such a long sight radius.

Anyone here have the Walther P22? I'm leaning towards it as a fun plinker, even more so because I can get one in FDE for 250 right now.
