Israeli here, thank you for dying for me.

Is the Coast Guard selective? I want to be a Gunners Mate, how should I prepare?

Rev up those dick sucking lips.

USCG is highly selective. They have no problems hitting their recruiting goals.

If you're not a minority, your goal should be blowing the doors off the ASVAB.

is it advisable to divorce your wife and break up with your gf before enlisting? seems like the most sensible option for both sides...

Before enlisting, yes

Before commissioning, no.

I’ve heard that recruiters try to stick you with a MOS that you don’t want, is this common?

>be 19 year old saw gunner
>PX denied selling me a foregrip because I was under 21
I don't understand.
I'm old enough to use high explosives and machine guns for the government and outright buy guns of my own, and they know that, yet somehow I can't be trusted to buy a piece of plastic with some screws at the end.

ultimately they just want to recruit you. if you let them put you where they want then, sure.
if you say you want some other gig then they won't push back much.

>denied for buying something not regulated
just buy it online, you fucking loser
it may be PX policy or that one person just didn't like you.

If you can pass the physical requirements, your ASVAB is high enough, and you checked a box that isn't "white" you're going first.

t. checked the "Hispanic" box

The PX is gay as shit about guns and has all sorts of retarded policies. I had PCS orders and a CCW permit in the state we were in and they still wouldn't sell me a gun without some other shit like an electric bill or a phone bill. Just go off post, they don't even have good prices on anything.

wow you sure rigged the system.
except you're an idiot who tried to play the affirmative action game for enlisting into the military.
you're suffering from confirmation bias because you went through the process fast and then attested it to checking a race box.

I was offered 35F for 4 years. Anything else I should request? Is it worth it?

What if there are no openings for the MOS that you want? Or is this a lie that they use?

then there are no openings and you wait or pick another job.

Do it bro, if you play your cards right you can have a pretty nice career.

You'll be a great ABM one day

gonna try to get 12B in the army, is this one of those jobs that never has slots open?

there are probably only 2 anons ever who would actually know about chances, but good luck.

I'm more so interested in doing a one and done type deal out of it but the job prospects are nice. Is there a lot of cool shit to do as a 35F?

i had joined the usaf reserves but got pneumonia before boot camp, and they discharged me because i was prescribed an inhaler. still feels bad, now im just a college boy

Out of curiousity, when you took the TBAS, how did you score on the multitasking sections?

Theres no way of knowing the tbas scores, they contribute to the pcsm, but I believe I did very well. My mistake was scheduling the afoqt the very next day and I was already math exhausted

>just a college boy
>just
pretty sure most vets don't even get degrees with the gi bill so you've got that going for you.

I mean the 4 subsection minigame scores. Each one had one when I took it that you saw during the test.

>he thinks the military isnt as pozzed as the average american university
Dont enlist. You'll hate it

Anyone here know much about the Canadian forces? I'm looking at signals, armoured or artillery officer. Which will have the most actually doing stuff or is it all paperwork all the time?

I'm sorry, for me to explain the scores a little better (they're slightly different than how its explained online) I'd have to break my oath of secrecy, but I can tell you that I know I did pretty fucking good since my pcsm is 98 and without my flight hours, I got at least a 68 which only a maximum of 70 is possible without flight hours. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that's how it works

omw to Bragg, any Jow Forumsommandos in the area that know good ranges?

If that's what you wanna do. You'll get the chance to work with cool info and really cool guys. Just got out of airborne with a 35f who was attached to 7th Group
You'll get it. You're gonna have to work, I hear Leonard Wood is an ass kicker for AIT. You have to hump bullshit over bullshit terrain, but I've met a few and they all fucking love their MOS
Sometimes there isn't. Wait for the job you want. Sometimes if you're willing to leave they'll make it happen. Sometimes it's a lie to get you to pick something that fits the needs of the army.

What rate in the coast guard allows me to board other ships?

>he thinks minorities ever had a problem enlisting
it's easier to enlist than get into most schools, you know?
blacks and hispanics are over represented in the military, idr for asians but that's not a fair stroke since "asian" includes flips and they make up half the navy's corpsman if not more.

anyone who thinks that enlistment is systematically geared to do anything but take in whoever walks in that door is fooling themselves.

>for me to explain the scores a little better I'd have to break my oath of secrecy
Dunno how you reason that when photos and explanations of the multitasking test are already open and posted on military sites.

what are my chances of being able to volunteer for airborne or rasp during bct and ait?
68w who lost his op40 at meps due to his left pupil being slightly off-center so he needed a waiver...
bct is at ft jackson in september

It changes all the time. I've seen a lot of people coming through with those contracts recently, not sure if it's possible to pick them up in basic or AIT at the moment. Don't sweat it too much either way, worst case scenario is you can reenlist for airborne when your window opens up and then be enough of a PT stud to get to go to RASP. Initial contracts for RASP and things like 18X are actually just recruiting tools anyway, you aren't expected to pass, but it's nice if you do. They just get a lot of people in the door.

What should I ask for in my Marine contract aside from the specific MOS that I want?

Your MOS isn’t guaranteed, or anything else for that matter. If your only goal is to be a marine, sign up. If you want a particular job or school, go army.

I think it's what I want to do. I'm good at weighing out decisions, pretty good at analyzing shit and doing the right thing. I want to be involved in high level shit and really have an effect on the mission. The opportunities for bases and TDY sound enticing too. I'm pretty good at speaking to people and have a good voice too so I think it'll fit me well.

>there are canadians who think they are military
>canada thinks it has a military
Lol. Just fucking lol. :)

by coming through with those contracts do you mean with op40 or through without?
i really want to get deployed to somewhere where i can actually do a combat medics job and right now it doesn't seem like ill be able to without being in the regiment

We're basically just a branch of the US military and I'm fine with that.

you can't get much in a marine contract.
for a start you're not getting a specific MOS.
on top of that they usually don't play with bonuses, you either get it or you don't.
i highly doubt a recruiter's going to play any games with you on it, either.

fully and one hundred percentual this
i cannot believe that canada thinks it is even independent in the face of the United States...

well i live only like 45 minutes from leonard wood so that's cool

not him but wdym you’re not getting a specific mos?

canadians cant even wear socks without asking SOFCOM for permission first.

With it, I see Option 40 contracts occasionally. I don't usually ask trainees about that kind of shit but when I do it's fairly common for someone to have one of those contracts.

I know multiple people who did a few years and then went to Ranger School and made it through, don't stress it if you don't have it in your contract. You can get there later if you want to get there.

Attached: 89a228ce-85d1-4b04-81c1-1d96de594d1b..jpg (1024x803, 133K)

marine contracts have contract codes.
the code says what the corps can do with you.
marines.mil/News/Messages/Messages-Display/Article/1608603/fy19-enlistment-incentive-programs
so anyone saying they want to be a machine gunner may find themselves being assigned rifleman at SOI.
there is some flexibility with certain jobs, eg you can sign an intel contract and be told you're going to do 1 thing and then be re-assigned to do another before you begin training.
it rarely happens but it does happen

canadians are officially not even invited to Exercise Anger Impact 19 because they raped too many dogs in Op Lentil

are you a DS?

4 Questions
1. What's the best branch to be an analyst in?
2. Could being an analyst in the military lead to a job in either Corporate America, or the CIA?
3. Are there any things that should not be included in a service academy application?
4. Is it possible to transfer into a service academy?

OMG. Sweaty pls. Your leaf nature is showing.
Stop commenting. :)

No, thank god. I'm an instructor who teaches a class you'll go through at a specific point in your cycle. There are other instructors, so I don't see everyone who goes through, but I do talk to a lot of trainees both in that class and in other circumstances where I'm around if I'm needed and end up instructing as a secondary role. I don't sit in a cubicle and look at paperwork or something, so my perception of how many Option 40 contracts go through is vague and anecdotal.

By the way, look into becoming a flight medic if you're intelligent and like the idea of doing medic shit.

How much do drill structors/RDCs actually yell at you? In the movies and every piece of media, you see them yelling constantly. I watched the "Making a Sailor" documentary and the recruits got yelled at individually when 1) they fucked up something obvious, and 2) within the first week of basic. Once they were assigned their ships, they got yelled at but not in their faces, and the RDC yelled for a few seconds before leaving. It looks more brutal in the movies, where Sgt. Hartman was in their faces for no reason.

Leaf? I ain't no leaf. Just trying to be professional.

>sailor documentary
>sgt hartman
>sgt
you think every branch is the same or something?
afaik only the marines actually meet the stereotype by any measure,
why does this even matter?
>best branch
depends on what kind of analyst and what culture you want to work in.
>jobs in corporate america or CIA
yes to both. it's funny how you have corporate america and CIA on your radar. there are a lot of other agencies and departments, you know?
>service academy stuff
no clue.

It doesn't matter, I'm just curious because I've seen so many representations.

>depends on what kind of analyst and what culture you want to work in.
What's army intel culture like?

idk i was a marine
when i worked with them it was pretty chill, sometimes too chill imo. but hey, they have money to spare and throw money at training their dudes so that's cool.

ill start looking flight medic shit

if you don't mind me asking how many instructors and army lads browse Jow Forums and meg?

Let's say that hypothetically someone lied about anxiety, got into boot camp, and had an anxiety attack. Not dry heaving or anything, but started sweating profusely and a rapid heart rate. Say this happened during a time where everyone is at attention. And let's say that, hypothetically, the only visible abnormality was excessive sweat. Would a drill instructor pick up on this and force them to go to medical? Even if that person lied and said it's because they're hot or they locked their knees or something?

Thanks for the answer man,
1. What different types of analysis are there? I would be more interested in strength analysis rather than SIGINT or linguistics, but I'd be willing to do both if it got me on the right path.
2. What are the cultures like in each branch?
3. I was aware of the other departments, its just Corporate America pays a lot, and the CIA would be my dream job. Any other agencies of note?

Any of them. Just yell “alta to barco” repeatedly to convince them you know your stuff.

There are a couple coworkers that I suspect browse Jow Forums but I don't ask anybody. Army wide, a small minority, but still a lot. Tons of people in the military aren't gun people, don't really know anything about them, and don't understand why our rights are important. The more high speed your environment gets the more of them do know about guns and do value liberty, though.

Attached: 1565313430567.jpg (800x739, 102K)

I think the AF at least has reserved slots for enlisted people to enter the academy. My understanding is that they often go unfilled due to a lack of applicants.

well fuck that just makes me want high speed ranger shit even more
i really can't imagine why someone would join the army if they didn't have some desire to shoot shit

just look up all of the army analyst mos's and then look into the ones that intrigue you.
though not all of them translate equally into corporate america.
the generalists seem to be more understood by companies and as a result are easy to transfer out, the rest usually go work for contractors who contract out those specialist jobs to the govt and a few companies. not a lot of companies need sigint or geoint guys, you know?
cultures vary a lot, just assume the overall branch culture applies to where you'll be working. it's not quite true but it's close enough.
eg navy pretty chill but has all the hierarchy bs of their rank structure
army is like middleground
marines autistic for rank and tradition
air force are barely in the military and more like a company

>i really can't imagine why someone would join the army if they didn't have some desire to shoot shit
have you heard of "benefits" user?
a lot of them exist to lure people in.

the army is the path of least resistance for many poor dudes (and gals) looking for a way in life

but if you dont want to shoot shit you could just join the air force, or navy for the exact same benefits and better skills and better housing/lifestyle

Medic here. Getting assigned to a hospital was the worst thing to ever happen to my career- the leadership is trash, none of the NCOs are worth a fucking penny.

I work 15 hour days including PT, before shift- then spend the next 13 hours with patients. No one prioritizes working out, so my scores have taken a massive blow- 270s down to scraping 180.

Last PT test of my career I scored 210 and still failed. Now I’m being chaptered- should I really-up and try again, different branch? Or just say fuck it?

Attached: image.jpg (436x536, 183K)

What do you mean including PT? They force PT on you?

the army is the easiest branch to join
not everyone wants to ride on ships nor do they know what navy stuff entails
air force is infamously a pain to join compared to everyone else

army is the path of least resistance. the lowest barrier to entry to gain military benefits of any kind.

>except you're an idiot who tried to play the affirmative action game for enlisting into the military
Sorry, not it. I went in with my degree (got loan repayment, then got the post-9/11 GI Bill anyway), dropped right into intel, now I'm a GS-14 (joined as a GS-12, to be fair). I'll let you look up GS-14 pay on your own so you can cry a bit.

Would you like to confirm you're infantry?

ayyo hol up
u gettin chaptered out and still thinkin about staying around? for what?
>They force PT on you?
this may surprise you, but a lot of people in the military have to participate in unit pt.

It’s not “forced” as in going through the drills by the numbers, but “be here at this time, but I don’t give a fuck what you do because a I’m SSG with 17 years and worried about running”

So it’s more of a constant morale killer- so after a 115-130 hour work period you feel fucking sick, and I may sound like a POG faggot- but we don’t get sleep, and I’ve noticed my stamina drop through the floor.

At my specific unit, we have the highest volume of patients and are constantly understaffed.

>1. What's the best branch to be an analyst in?
What kind of analyst do you want to be? (The answer is Air Force unless you want to do HUMINT...and even then...)
>2. Could being an analyst in the military lead to a job in either Corporate America, or the CIA?
Yes.
>3. Are there any things that should not be included in a service academy application?
Minor medical shit. Unless you had surgery, don't bother to mention it.
>4. Is it possible to transfer into a service academy?
Yes. The Air Force has a direct selection to the Academy program (that is insanely competitive and fills every slot, unlike user alleged) as well as three (or maybe four) different programs for commissioning right out of your enlisted contract if you want to do that. (They'll send you to non-AFA schools full ride in exchange for years of service as an officer under one, and under another you can direct commission with the recommendation of two O-6s if you've got your degree.)

Nah. This is someone who actually has a chance of making it through a service intel school.

Other things to note: entrance into a service academy is functionally impossible without a recommendation from your local congressional representative or a Senator. This is NOT true for USAF members going through the Bootstrap program (yes, it's actually called that) for reasons not worth delving into.

If you're hoping someone will teach you how to do the job, you're fucked. Better be a self-starter or hope your unit ends up with a civilian/contractor who's willing to hold your hand. MI OJT is as worthless as you might suspect unless your CWO is engaged. If you have one. Most commonly heard phrase in MI shops: "I should have gone Air Force."

I'm about a decade removed from active duty, but I can definitely talk about that reserve life.

How hard is it to get a medical waiver for Eczema now?

I feel like im going to do something incredibly stupid and enlist in the NG because i finished my associates last year, that I got for the sole purpose of bettering my odds of getting a waiver, after my recruiter said hed put one in, then disappeared off the map after doing a stint of training

So Im seriously thinking about going back to a recruiting station and putting myself back into the system

My eczema is basically on my scalp, and its disappearing after a round of medication I took a month ago

And its not like Id be enlisting for the purposes of cash, i got an associates in mechanical engineering, and since then Ive been fairly financially successful but Ive always felt Ive betrayed the months of work I put in to better myself to get to the point where I could meet the enlistment physicals

Do I go for it? Id be going for and probably will be shoved into some sort of maintenance position after talking to someone at my job who is enlisted with an engineering degree, unless I go full retard and say I want to do EOD in which case, they may throw me there

Lying about my medical condition isnt an option

What branch? We never had mandatory PT after basic

I know right? It’s a fucking pride thing. It’s embarrassing as fuck to have all these certs and knowledge, and wanting to deploy at least once- and be told by my CO-

“You’re a great medic, but a poor soldier”

For fucks sake- myself and a nurse delivered a baby out of a car last month. I’ve placed tubes in lungs, and handled everything from missing fingers to seizures.

But none of my experience means shit as a civilian- because I’m not a RN.

Attached: image.jpg (245x204, 61K)

Army

90% of units do the 6am PT.

We do ours at 5pm, with a heat index of 100.

marines for me, but army also does mando pt.
i never saw airmen do unit pt except for the occasional frisbee on fridays. im not kidding about that, either.
sailors i saw PT sometimes but i think it was just fatbodies, not unit pt.
the mil doesn't train you to be a good civilian. if you want transferable stuff in most jobs you have to take the initiative and seek it out yourself, it's a real pain in the ass.
worst case you get out like most vets with nothing to your name except "i served" and use the GI bill. that as a "worst case" is not bad at all, to be fair.

Going to JRTC next week, what am I in for? Anything I should bring besides what's on the packing list?
