So, with recent events, we all know someone is going to try to introduce some batshit gun control bill in congress. With that said, literally ANYONE can write the bill, but only a member of congress can introduce it. So what if Jow Forums wrote the law? What could we do that would actually gain bipartisan support? Yes, it would mean more regulation, but in exchange we could rewrite existing laws that would be pro-gun.
Personal thoughts, and i'd love feedback or other suggestions:
>Change the purchase age of firearms with removable mags or 10+ round capacity to 21 (leaves rifles and shotguns for hunting at an 18 year old purchase age) >Universal background checks, BUT allow access to NICS to private sales >Federal license needed to purchase ammo (no limit on amount) >Change the NFA tax stamp to a rate equal to inflation to be reviewed with every new congress (currently would be around $3800 for a stamp). >Remove suppressors from the NFA list >Repeal the Hughes Amendment so civilians can buy full auto again (same background/paperwork requirements as in NFA) >Add *some* new restrictions to the background check (Red Flag type rules) >Remove import restrictions on "military" style firearms (LET IN REAL KALASHNIKOVS AGAIN!!!)
I think it removes enough restrictions to bring over the pro-gun groups, while adding enough restrictions to make the gun-control group happy.
> What could we do that would actually gain bipartisan support? nothing. there is only 1 way to get bipartisan support and that's to concede. this applies to 100% of issues atm. welcome to politics of the 2010s

>Thoughts? SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED

>compromise >not invalidating statewide, citywide, and federal anti-gun legislature for directly violating the US constitution Also, it doesn't matter what you do, because shootings will keep happening, and the drummed up emotional outrage and support for more anti-2A legislation will drown any pro-gun agenda at the large scale in the US. It would be nice to see some of those points, though.
Yet the federal government already infringes on some weapons and people. This list would make some guns easier to get, and certain people less able to.
Angel Jones
>Statewide >10th amendment
Pick one
Jaxson Baker
Gun owners compromising yet again. Maybe everyone else should be the ones compromising.
Easton Johnson
The idea behind it would be a compromise. Some new restrictions, but the removal of quite a few others. It would force both sides to give a little.
Julian Kelly
>red flag Fuck no the moment we have nation red flags is when we’re all fucked and not the ammo I don’t want the gov knowing I’m buying ammo I’ll support the Hughes amendment being repealed but i can’t deal with a license to buy ammo
Jacob Morgan
Why would Democrats accept any compromise when they can bide their time, bring in more immigrants, and gain a permanent majority in a decade or so?
Angel King
>gun control compromise do you even keep up with modern congress? fucking hell
Bill 'checkem' 0022 Article 1: WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU FUCKS NOT UNDERSTAND ABOUT 'SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED?' Article 2: ALSO, REPEAL ALL THAT SHIT WE ALL KNOW IS UNCONSTITUTIONAL AND ALSO DISBAND THE ATF WHILE WE'RE AT IT! Article 3: SEE ABOVE.
Anyway, there can be no compromises. Any and all amount of territory bleeding is an injury upon the good name of the founding fathers.
>and certain people less able to. And you seriously think this won't be abused to pigeonhole everyone into whatever arbitrary category for Bad-People-No-Guns-Now? None of these concessions are anything more than appeasing measure. When will you fucking idiots get it that kowtowing gets you exactly nowhere? Give an inch, and they'll take a mile.
i cant believe people like op exist. i understand SHALL i understand FUCK YOU but i dont understand "why cant we all just get along"
Benjamin Diaz
It's walking back from the best thing to come out of FOPA
William Peterson
You can get the license without buying ammo, nor would it track the sales/amounts.
Evan Moore
You do realize that all they'd do is deny anyone a license and/or NFA tax stamp and call it a fucking win, right?
I'm not a pro-guns memelord or anything, but you could try not being a disingenuous cunt.
Charles Nguyen
Cue every state legislators turning that 'license' into a may-issue deal, and throttling the fuck back. The last sort of idiots who will work in your favor are bureaucrats. Red tape ahoy and chilling effect would like to have a word with you.
Jason Jenkins
Gun owners sacrificed full-autos to buy ammunition without faggot cards, make selling across state lines easier, and protect your rights when transporting guns.
Go fuck your self
David Gray
this shit belongs in pol. Go away with your fantasy bullshit.
Alexander Peterson
So make it Shall Issue at the federal level. Make it so, other than a small fee, nobody could be restricted if they qualify to buy a firearm.
It *could* reduce the amount of ammo used in other crimes
Jack Smith
Considering the shitshow Jow Forums is, I thought this group may actually have some actual knowledge on the subject.
Joshua Sanders
>So what if Jow Forums wrote the law? I'm gonna stop ya right there, bud. In terms of gun legislation, I wouldn't accept anything less than >Bump stocks are banned as silly toys sold under false advertising. In their stead, all AR-15s are required to be manufactured as select fire. >The right to own artillery pieces and Armored Fighting Vehicles shall not be infringed >All Chinese weapons must be turned in to be melted for scrap >Deliberate alteration to weapons from before 1945 for cartridges incompatible with the weapon (as in, fudded up Arisakas), is punishable by death via firing squad >All citizens possessing a tacticool Ruger 10/22 must register under the NTO (Nation Toolbag Organization) >Voting rights withheld from anyone who does not possess a minimum of two firearms. >Price caps on any SKS >Mandatory firearms training from Kindergarten up
Brayden Torres
Still no need for a damn license for ammo if you want a compromise let’s put a small like $200 tax on buying over 1500 rounds at once I’d say that sounds reasonable
David Cooper
CCW shall issue federally if over 21, clean record, passes a class which must be offered at least each month and shall not exceed a registration cost of 500 but requires universal background checks.
People don't seem to think that universal checks exist yet so we'll give them that.
Gabriel Bailey
Go choke on shit
Restricting ammunition is a far more insidious and effective way of disarming citizens and ruining shooting sports than the cosmetic things that people normally go after
Jaxon Hughes
Fuck you. No concessions. Never give 1 goddamn inch. It sets precedent for legislation every time there's a shooting.
SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED
Logan Harris
we do have knowledge on the subject. it's you who doesn't. >taxing ammo is reasonable fuck right off
Maybe drop the tax, but add NICS check on handgun ammo.
James Martin
This. Would. Be. Amazing.
Brayden Kelly
>People crying about the fun show loophole >"Close" it with spin >Yes that's right every single transfer >We're closing all the loopholes and making sure that the checks have to apply to these new ccw holders too >Before people could just carry nationally without background checks, you wouldn't want that now would you, haha isn't that crazy >Clearly this option is common sense, consistent nationally and safer than before
Please
Christopher Allen
Alright that sounds fair but only for the like 1k plus rounds at once
Daniel Sanders
Perfect
Tyler Adams
>Not unless you also agree to raise the military enlistment age to 21 >No >Hell no >No >Yeah >Yeah >Hell no >Hell yeah
Ayden Morales
>Not unless you also agree to raise the military enlistment age to 21
I actually forgot that one. in the original post. Agreed 100%. Add women to the draft too.
Christopher Mitchell
The 10th Amendment doesn't let states decide powers or freedoms given/taken by the Constitution, schlomo. That includes the uninfringed right of the people to keep and bear arms.
>Remove import restrictions on "military" style firearms (LET IN REAL KALASHNIKOVS AGAIN!!!)
This is only appreciated by a very select portion of gun owners; even most shooter types couldn't tell the difference between a Mario at POHF build of a Chinese Type 56 or AK-74M, and a PSA or C39v2.
Fundamentally having a few more exotic imports would be nice - I would LOVE to buy select-fire weapons that roll directly off the production lines alongside the military versions - but it doesn't make up for everything else that you said, like making the NFA tax stamp almost fucking $4000 and limiting what's already a richfag hobby to richfags among richfags.
More stuff like 50-state conceal carry reciprocity (so that I could get a Utah or Arizona non-resident permit and tell California DOJ to eat a dick if I have to ventilate a redguard in Oakland) is really necessary.
Hudson Thompson
That's more like it

Tax relief for people who collect original guns older than 1850 as it is a preservation of cultural, political, military and technological history and serves a public good same for all museums

(((Compromise))) happens when you get nothing and the enemy gets half of what it wants. Fuck these ideas. New ideas that work outside of the normal, entirely worthless system where the best you can get is losing differently, or nothing. What might be useful is more media and propaganda creation to organize large numbers of people in effective forms of political power. I'm not talking about muh voting either, effective forms of protest. Support lawfare. Show up physically and lobby somehow. Legislation is losing slowing, no matter who writes it, work to fight outside of legislation.
The funny thing is that Congress literally has the power to set the training standards for the Militias. If they wanted to send everyone to training and structure it with high but reasonable standards for who actually passes training, they could massively reduce the number of legitimate gun owners in this country in a perfectly constitutional way.
