One day later and I'm still screwed, should I just take it to a gunsmith?

My new M28/30

What’s the problem user?

Yass

Take the action out of the stock and see if it's hanging up on the interrupter or sear or something. If that's not the case, and you can find no metal piece that has somehow become lodged behind the bolt body and it's just stuck from friction then just tap it out with a mallet.

Just posting cool pic.
>Zapatistas, Mexico
>DDR helmet + Sten
I wonder how they got there.

Attached: hbf.jpg (597x387, 83K)

I posted in the last msg, but the short version is that I was retarded and put just the bolt body way too far into the mosin, I tried tapping it out, pulling it out with the trigger held down, etc but nothing seems to work.

Attached: img_6467_1.jpg (1800x1200, 315K)

Try removing the trigger guard/mag, that should give you access to whatever is holding the bolt in

Nice get.

Attached: M1917_09-03-2019_A.jpg (1500x1000, 1.43M)

I've completely disassembled it, and I can't see what its caught on. It's much deeper into the receiver then it should be, around to the depth of where the bolt head should be.

Attached: IMG_20190903_204117.jpg (3024x4032, 3.62M)

Remove literally everything from the action, trigger group, disconnector, mag assembly and drop the action on the lip of a table letting it land on the bolt stem close to the body. It’ll likely come out just from being whacked enough.

I have, it's stuck on something inside the receiver.

Show us pictures. So far you've posted only two pictures, at this point I don't believe you

Attached: IMG_20190904_101635_733.jpg (1280x720, 190K)

I don't have any pictures of it disassembled.

Attached: IMG_20190904_101726_126.jpg (1021x1279, 125K)

DDR Helmets are like 30$ here

You should just sell it

I put back my Steyr M95 bolt head upside down and the bolt wouldn't come out again because it got stuck on the ejector. I accessed it from below and it came out easy. If there's really no detachable part holding your bolt in that position then just hammer (mallet) it out of there

Thanks. It was mislabeled as a M27 so I got a decent deal IMO. Of course now I am fully onboard the Finn train, this 28/30 is to a regular Mosin as a Mannlicher-Schoenauer is to a Mauser. So a M28 and M27 are next on my list.

what the fuck

lmao

the fact that there are people like this that can own guns and i can't makes me want him to lose his right to bear arms.

Bolts and ammo
Swedish Mosin x2, Czech mosin, Austrian Mosin

I prefer the Italian mosin

Its stuck bad

Attached: IMG_20190904_121346_612.jpg (1280x720, 165K)

Looks like it's jammed into the interrupter

Is this something I should be really concerned about and how do I go about dealing with it? Worried shooting will split it more.

Nigger it’s a Mosin. Illiterate Russian child conscripts know how to fix this. How can you not figure it out.

Hit it you fucking pansy. It’s a mosin. The only thing it’s hooked on is your own weak spirit

Yes, you need to get that fixed.

Should I take it to a gunsmith? I dont want to become bubba fucking around with glue.

It’s wood. Google it

put it in a vise and whack it backwards with a hammer.

>I dont want to become bubba fucking around with glue.

thats exactly what a gunsmith is going to do, so just do it yourself, spread the crack open, fill with superglue, tighten it closed with a vise and leave it for 24 hours.

You guys clean and oil your surps even when you haven't shot them in a while right?

Attached: IMG_20190903_210123985.jpg (3139x2800, 1.3M)

Yes

>Marlin 22
What were these guys fighting for?

The bolt is angled downward at the front. Very carefully hit it extremely hard with a block of wood. Either straight back on the bolt or from underneath

Picked this up today my first surplus can't wait to hit the range. Don't think my range will like the gp11.

Mannlicher gang, does this look period correct to you? ebay.com/itm/MANNLICHER-M1895-M95-CARRYING-SLING-TRAGERIEMEN-PERFECT-REPLICA-MADE-IN-EUROPE/162194463083?hash=item25c38b196b:g:cscAAOSw9IpXz~yX
Googling shows a bunch of variations, hard to tell what's accurate and what's not

Yeah, but this pic could be from 1994. Sure there had been about half a decade for them to be dumped onto the market, but still.

There is a user in here who does quality work if you don't want to do it yourself.
>Glue
No. Epoxy.
Once a year.

>Don't think my range will like the gp11.
Choot 'em.

>inferior American rifles and rainbows
You have the big gay.

Zapatistas are a lefty guerrilla group that has controlled Chiapas/Southern Mexico and gotten into fights with the Mexican government since about 94.

Anyone know anything about overpressure signs? The same ammo I'm feeding through my garbage rod without any signs of issues is giving me cratered and the occasional loose primer on my PSL. Anyone know what the issue might be?

Attached: garbage rod.jpg (3024x2268, 987K)

fix that

fix that shit

Hey /msg/, I might trade my IBM M1 carbine for an early Type 99 , intact chrysanthemum. Would this be a bad idea? My carbine isnt all parts original or anything special.

It’s a Finn, Finns are high iq

What ammo? PSLs are very sensitive about it.

Type99 is worth notably less than a M1 carbine. Heck, you can get a 99 for as low as $250.

PPU 150 grain soft point. I made sure to avoid heavy ball, but from what I understand the PPU stuff is still about 100fps faster than the 7N1.

The lowest I've seen a M1 Carbine offered for sale in the past two years was $700. I bought a early Type 99 with intact mum a few months back for $400. US Tax > Flower Tax. To me its a bad trade.

did you try turning it off and turning it on again

Looking at getting my first Nugget y’all. Got the options of either a 1938 M91/30 or a 1942 M38, which is a bit pricier. What do you suggest, /msg/?

M38. Mosin carbines are fun as fuck.

Damn, I feel so bad for Mexicans now.

Unless that type 99 has all the optional goodies and is fucking perfect, it's not worth an M1.
Matching type 99 with no dust cover, mono or AA
>$400
Junky shooter M1
>$650

Shortstroking Garand update.

I took it to an indoor range today and it was having the same issues; It would extract but not feed another round. With nothing better to do with my day, I decided to just run a few clips through with my straight-pull bolt-action.

On the second clip, the 3rd round ejected and fed the 5th but then continued to fail to feed. Third clip, same thing. Fourth, all rounds fed but one. I thought this was odd so I bought another box of ammo to see where it would go. It ate a couple clips just fine after that, including one that I ensured was in the first clip that failed the worst to see if that was the issue.

It's almost like it needed a few more rounds to "break in" or "warm up" or some grease needed to work its way into somewhere. Fucking weird. Anybody got any ideas?

Attached: M1_Garand_rifgren-shooting_line.jpg (432x347, 104K)

Performance anxiety

Checked the gasplug and gasblock?

I cleaned out the gas cylinder and made sure the gas plug was torqued on.
From what I can gather, if the bolt cycles far back enough to extract, it's far back enough to strip another round unless you have excessive gas pressure. Normally this would happen if you're using ammo that's too hot for an old Garand, but I've only ever put the Federal stuff specifically for Garands through it.
I have some PPU Garand ammo coming in the mail soon, so I'll run it up with that stuff and see if it still functions smoothly or if it needs to be "warmed up" or whatever the fuck is going on.

I usually do every few months or so

Attached: 1483653875894.jpg (4000x2000, 2.94M)

What's a good way to clean light rusting off of a k98? Would Hoppes #9 and a nylon brush work?

I use PPU in my garand, and it runs flawlessly.

Yeah my carbine is kinda junky, most notably the barrel band is retained with a non M1 carbine screw. Its kind of an eyesore. I guess I'll hold off, but I'm probably going to try and get the allegedly perfect type 99 with a couple hundred bucks or so.

It's not perfect if it doesn't have a mum, unfucked finish, monopod, AA wings, dust cover, and cleaning rod. Watch for fakes or unlatching parts.

Will post update showing fix

How common is the early SMLE Mk I and how much would you expect to pay for one in good condition?

New background thanks

How did that happen? Did you buy it like that?

Sent in my order for a CMP Garand last Friday.
Do they send any type of confirmation that they got it?
About how long till I get my Ping machine?

Yeah, turns out the memes are right and anything south of Mexico City is a desolate, godforsaken wasteland

Awesome, thanks dude. Any other reasons that make it a bit cooler than a 91/30?

>SMLE Mk I
Do you mean a Mk III (No1 Mk III) or a No4 Mk1? Bongs changed the designations for their rifles and added confusion.

Did you not know there are SMLE (No1) Mk1 rifles?

Just a Mk I (produced ~1904-1907), prior to the MkIII.

Were they ever actually referred to as a "No. 1"?

Retroactively
All Mks of SHtLEs and SMLEs were officially renamed to Rifle No.1. Stampings on already made rifles were not changed

Makes sense.

Fireballs and cannon noises. Also it's lighter and handier.

My LGS has an 1944 M38 mosin for $350, its in good shape except for flaking of the shellac on the stock and someone carved "KGB" into it. They have it mismarked as an M44. What do you guys think? Should I go for it? Ive got a 91/59 that I love.

Crests?

I need to do a pic like this sometime.

Attached: CHI - Type 24-Chiang Kai-Shek rifle - Crest.jpg (1500x1960, 1.81M)

Yeah, was still stupidly cheap so I thought fixing it would be nbd. Just a easy glue job.

I'd buy it at that price. You have to decide if it's right for you since you already have a shortnug.

Attached: SOV - M91-59 Mosin-Nagant.jpg (3506x621, 1.39M)

I was firing my friends memesin nugget the other day and the bolt was a sticking like a bitch. Its a common issue from what I understand.
How did the Russians deal with that in combat? Is it the modern surplus ammo is junk, that the rifles hadn't been stored properly, or were they just always like that?

>How did the Russians deal with that in combat?
Comrade, they didn't even notice.

You smack the bolt open on the head of the guy next to you. problem solved.

We pimpin'.

Attached: WW1_service_rifles_07-21-2019_A.jpg (1600x1465, 1.93M)

It's because most of the Russian rifles people in the US have are refurbs made from recycled and refurbished parts from multiple manufacturers. These rifles were all hand-fit to a certain degree which is why serializing parts was important.

If you take a Soviet Mosin from the 1930s with its original bolt parts it won't feel like that; it'll operate quite smoothly because all the parts in that action were assembled and test-fit together at the same time.

They didn't, that stiffness is from shoddy rearsenaling and refurbishing, the cocking spring is probably too long.

Memelords.

bump

Define good condition. Matching? Refurbed? Questions like "how much should I pay for x" don't get much traction, especially on something as obscure as a No.1 Mk.1. No pictures, no specifics, nothing to go on. Go to gunbroker and check out completed auctions in the last 90 days. That'll get you more than vague fishing on Jow Forums. But ultimately, it'll come down to how much are you willing to pay for a nice example of a rare rifle?

Probably from Central America, which received a good deal of aid from East Germany during the whole contras affair. You see cool things like Strichtarn Chicom rigs and their helmets in that region during conflicts
