Starting to enjoy Japanese anime less and less because I've come to realize it's in general low effort garbage. It's the McDonald's of animated entertainment.
It's usually a combination of shit writing, no cohesion, and terrible pacing.
I watched some of the popular ones because my friends talk about it a lot. Death Note, FMAB, hunter x hunter, one punch man, and attack on titan were all worth the time. I try to watch others but they all seem boring
Ethan Smith
yeah thats the thing with anime. its either really good or fucking horrible
Evan Sanders
the good ones are good, the rest are shit
Watch the good ones then get the fuck out of there and don't watch anything released in the last 4 years. If people still rate it, then there's probably some worth there.
Ian Edwards
I've always liked animation so I gravitate towards anime more often than traditional western television. Plus o hate looking at read people and anime girls are objectively more beautiful
>What do you guys think of anime? Have seen about 200, but I've gotten sick of it and have watched absolutely fuck all in the last two years.
Juan Lopez
boku no pico is good, if you like something "soft core" and very entertaining, i recomend you "Sakura mail/diaries". Really good.
Joshua Mitchell
>last 4 years Devilman Crybaby was p good and that came out this year. Other than that, I'd agree with you. Unless a recent show panders to a fetish you have, 2011-2013 was when anime jumped the shark
William Ross
Yeah no shit OP, that's why I like it. It's disposable entertainment. I can watch 20+ new seasonal anime every season, enough for every single night of the week, then forget the shows once the season ends and start watching the new season's shows. Over and over. Nothing better for keeping ennui at bay.
Julian Johnson
how long have i been telling you this. sheeshh please
Eli Foster
There is a lot of trash, but there are some very good shows and stories that can be picked out. Weeb culture is fucking disgusting though. I'm 28 and never admit to anyone in person that I watch anime. The closest I ever came was suggesting the Vinlandsaga manga to one of my metalhead friends in high school because he was getting really into folk metal/viking shit.
The cartoons of trash people. Complete shit in my opinion.

What's the "new" Bible Black, I think this is the first time this year that I've seen anyone on this site mention it, meaning it got replaced, much like how BB replaced Wordsworth back in the day
Sebastian Nelson
I'll have to check it out! I'm not saying good shit isn't coming out and 4 years was probably a bit long. I guess I'm just in a good place right now where there's enough good shows I haven't seen yet that I don't have to keep up with current stuff to make sure gems don't pass through my net. I only really watch stuff if the hype train is SUPER strong so I'll probably watch Devilman and probably love it!
Ethan Evans
I don't know, I don't watch very much hentai. It's just old, that's probably why people don't mention it much anymore.
Anime is great, my favorite form of escapism. IMO people who only watch anime because they think it's superior as an art form or "more mature" than western cartoons are deluding themselves. Anime is a shallow commercial product by and large, a few exceptional titles don't change that. If you only watch "the good anime" you are wasting your time because nobody is impressed and you are not going to be able to sustain your interest in anime longer than a few years. Most people who watch anime that way burn out by their mid 20s if they even last that long, only people I see who watch anime past 25 are people like me who sincerely enjoy it, even the trashy stuff. ESPECIALLY the trashy stuff.

>and don't watch anything released in the last 4 years This is hilarious to me, because people like you all have your magic dates when anime suddenly stopped being good. I've heard everything from 1980 to, just now, 2014, being the cutoff for when anime stopped being good. Isn't it funny how the date always magically coincides with whenever the person stopped watching new anime?
Bentley Hernandez
Nah time just moves forward. 4 years is arbitrary but if we just say 4 for now, the good stuff that was released now will still be relevant and people will still talk about it. I'm not saying everything post 2014 is shit. I'm just saying I don't want to watch shit that's just hyped and then people forget about.
Jose Mitchell
That's where I'm at right now too. After being disappointed with the anime in early 2015, I made a rule for myself that I'll try to only watch shows that were made during or before 2015 because of how much trash was coming out. 2018 redeemed the industry a bit so far, but I'm still mainly focused on older stuff.
That makes me sad, because over the years I got used to people thinking it was the golden standard of hentai even though there's better stuff out there even then, and now that this is no longer the case it shows how much time has passed. I still remember two years ago there were still people who thought it was the best thing ever, I wonder where they all went?
I think there are some pretty fantastic anime out there but there's a lot of trash and that really keeps me from being into it as some people are. This really baffles me to be honest.
Anime is an effeminate dark art that seeks to corrupt young men's minds by making them overproduce estrogen in their bodies and convincing them that they, too can be the cute girl they idealize by transitioning. It is the number one cause of transexual disorder and a plague on the lonely depressed male.
