My feline loving lads, I lost my little girl

Two months ago;
>I began leaving canned cat food out for the local cat colony. They lived in the school where I worked and rummaged through the dumpsters at night (I'm a graveyard shift janitor)
>One of them was a small kitten, only a few months old and severely malnourished
>The other cats would bully it for the food, so I took to giving the kitten the food in it's hiding spot and scaring the other cats away
>Less than a month later the kitten would wait for me and mewl out for the food, and I'd be sure to deliver it
>Two weeks ago I was doing a daytime clean and I saw the same kitten out there watching me work
>I had never seen it in the daytime
>I fed it, and decided to finally do some research on stray cat mannerisms
>It wasn't stray, but feral
>According to websites, it would despise human contact unless it was indoctrinated within a few months of age
>I had a mission now
>Set out to catch the cat and give it a home, one where it wouldn't get raped or killed

Nope. My parents and I aren't exactly on the best terms anyway, even if they've known me for 18 years. I had hoped that my dad would't care like he does with most internal affairs and my mom would just have to go along with it despite objections, but my mom convinced my dad to actually give me a strait answer this time.

Maybe you can organise a good home at friends for Socks, although Vet bills can be expensive.
Difficult situation for sure. Those little furballs can touch our soul quickly, although they don't seem to care.

Happens, such is life.
It really sounds dumb, but it is better to have a liked a cat shortly, then never have liked.
I know folks on Jow Forums seem to rather say "don't do it" in fear of getting hurt but sometimes, it's better to expirience something then never do it.
Maybe you'll find a socks II a day, maybe not, who knows?
