Is most of America irrelevant?

This isn't meant as a clap insult since obviously America as a while is extremely important, but iIt's only a few certain states which actually do anything.

Someone pointed this out to me today, and as far as I know only the circled ones (and maybe texas) have do anything of note.

Is this thread irrelevant? OP hasn't done anything of note.

What does it mean to be relevant in your eyes, OP? By a certain definition of relevancy the only place that matters in the world is Manhattan.

Its like this in every large country
Russia past the Ural mountains is a winter wasteland, and west China is all desert or farmland

Yeah if you're literally a Muppet.

Yeah, what exactly do you mean by "do" anything?

And to a large degree, most states are pretty independent of one another. There's ones that contribute to the country, like DC, etc. But the rest just have people living and being comfortable and happy in them.

And I'd be willing to bet that the person who introduced you to this idea was also a liberal. No bias at all there.

>farming isn't important
Kek, nice bait.

>Vermont is in the circle
LMAO yeah right

Bay Area
LA
Texas Triangle
Chicagoland
Acela Corridor

These are the only place worth a shit in America.

All the top unis, biggest/most famous companies, and general "reputation" e.g. californias by far the most famous outside the us

Is Dallas/Austin not relevant? I always saw Texas as pretty important, can any americanos verify?

There are plenty of industries that are even more crucial to society than entertainment/art whatever bs dwells in those urban jungles that you literally have no idea that they even exist

OP here, I always thought texas was "half relevant".

The impression I've always got is that cali, new york and boston were more important than all the others combined

It's relevant. Most foreigners just don't know too much outside of Hollywood, so they don't know shit.

And?

Might be nice if you go there/live there/work there/etc. but to the people that live elsewhere, whoop-de-doo?

So they don't actually "do" anything then, I guess?

Not "irrelevant" compared to the rest of the world, but some are certainly more important than the others. There's definitely a very large difference between california and wyoming (no fucking idea what comes from there)

Texas literally runs America, as in the driving force of the military industrial complex, oil operations, most big name food and financial corporations, etc.. and with the most representatives out of any state, it's effectively the heart of our politics and where america gets its 'Murica reputation

I legitimately thought about this as well.

I tried googling states like Arkansas or Idaho, and there is absolutely nothing worthwhile about them aside from some shitty universities or sports teams.

When I speak to Americans, I would ask them something like "So, could you tell me a bit more about Idaho?" And they usually wouldn't really be able to say much

>Vermont
>New Hampshire
>Rhode Island
>Relevant

Yeah, whatever you New England cunts say. At least circle Miami, Atlanta, Seattle, and Chicago. They're more relevant than anything in that circle besides NYC.

Midwest and the south are probably the most relevant. West/east coasts are just tourist hotspots that don't produce much. Silicon Valley is more of a cancer than a contributor.

Resources/manufacturing/farming are what matter.

The northeast and the west are probably the least relevant places in the country. If they were to simply disappear, the rest of the country would notice minimal differences. Your fly over states are the reasons you have energy, food, fresh water, etc.

Neets in here confusing normie degenerate cesspools with relevance. Probably underage fags in here.

this is so true.
New England dickholes always love to pump up their garbage heap of a spot. Really, if Philadelphia had sex with the worst parts of Canada you'd have NE.
PS, Brady Choked.

Is there anything stopping the none flyover states from producing food?

I expect it's just because they've got more advanced profitable economies, in the UK a lot of food is imported from shit holes because it's cheaper, nothing to do with not being able to grow it.

>tfw googling famous companies

Is America just California attached to an irrelevant lump?

Attached: 1440601109483.jpg (250x241, 11K)

Most of the world is irrelevant when you really get down to it.

Attached: 0611stategdp[1].png (854x570, 394K)

As a tourist, USA relevancy is trash. You guys have disneyland, grand canyon, movie studios and what else? nothing worth mentioning.
Oh, perhaps Miami for rich beaners to buy stuff and go back home.
No food, no typical beverage, no typical culture, nothing that can't be seen in the movies.
Even Mexico is cooler social issues aside. Could be worse, though, I mean, look at Canada.

Rain, soil, seasons, etc.

Economies on the west/northeast are moving toward service rather than skills. They're going keep getting a greater amount of income inequality, California is a good example of a rapidly shrinking middle class and the damaging effects this has; their inflation is absolutely out of control.

Home prices are so out of control over there, property investors are going to make a killing while the new generation of workers in California will never own a home.

>the south is irrelevant
>the south isn't practically the main depiction of the "american" society as presented by foreign media
do us a favor and make yourself irrelevant

The only relevant places in the USA are LA and NYC.

Maybe for drinking and taking selfies, but they're seriously not at all.

Spoken like a true flyover. Let me guess, Denver.

What does LA produce that Denver doesn't? Both don't produce anything.

And no.

"top unis"
Literally a couple big money liberal schools that teach propaganda. Meanwhile there are a lot of really good schools throughout northern US. Even some good ones in the southeast.

"biggest/most famous companies"
This is just completely false in every way. Unless you just mean "oh fox news and uh wall street"

California is famous just because wealthy actors hang out there.

Those states would fall apart in a week without most other states, but most of the us could survive fine without them.

This is the most childish observation ever.
"oh uh well look at the places where celebrities and parties are heh I mean what else is there?"

This pretty much sums it up. People in here are either underage or neets who are jealous of people drinking in public.

this, plus nashville and austin are quickly becoming new "silicon valley"s

Alaska and Texas have oil, Florida is used for shuttle launches coordinated from Texas.
You can delete everything but New York from that circle, unless you count DC.
You can reduce the California circle down to Silicon Valley.
And that's about it, as far as I can tell.
t. Texan stuck in Alabama

Wait! Americans can't drink in public? So this is why you use a paper bag to drink in public like depicted in the movies?
Top kek
Land of the free, guys

Not him, but the op pic is pretty much spot on about unis and if you Google famous companies, a very disproportionate amount do come from California

Attached: USA-Major-Universities-Map.jpg (1000x690, 200K)

Their land isn't nearly as good for farming, couple other reasons, but i suppose not. California and outer new york actually have lots of farms, but not near enough in quantity, quality, or diversity

>nothing that can't be seen in the movies
literally our culture is so pervasive, popular, and influental that it is basic in movies worldwide

some places can and some can't. it is more of a locally decided thing

Now you know why everyone wants to secede

daily reminder that floridians are the MOST POWERFUL RACE in the WORLD
AAAWWWWOOOOOOO

Tennessee has rich resources, beautiful nature, music (if you are into that), the hub of Fed ex and lots of large international brands.

Oklahoma has a lot of big corporation hubs, provides a lot of the nation's food supply, hub of many US government agencies due to its central location

Nevada has oil, one of the largest vice city attractions in the western hemisphere ranging from gambling, to the biggest names in live entertainment, and area 51

Just off the top of my head

You mean jeans and fast food? Yeah, these are

I don't want your potatoes, John.
We eat tofu over here.

You can have tofu and potatoes, though

lol again (only stopping with generic culture, not even mentioning other stuff) our music, film, clothing, food, television, literature, etc is so pervasive and influential that you can go almost anywhere and they'll say "oh yeah, i know about that"
The fact that it seems so not unique to you is just proof of our influence

>imblying tofu doesnt involve farming

For a minute, I honestly thought tofu was some magical substance that just appeared from thin air and was collected from the ocean.

1 in 9 Americans live in California and these morons can't stop spending. California feeds famous companies while not being able to afford a 500k 1500 sq ft home that would be 150k anywhere else.

Who gives a shit

beyond that, their streets that arent home to the wealthiest are covered in trash and shit and they have so many homeless

I visit the southern valley areas a lot and they're a bit better but they still have homeless, a fair amount of debris flying around, and overpriced homes. A significant amount of Californians are stuck renting and it's pretty sad.

The aeronautic industry and major tech firms are in Washington. Given that Amazon is taking over the world and Microsoft's big influence Washington can't be written off as irrelevant. Also like the previous user said, a lot of America's oil is refined in Texas, Austin is fast becoming a major tech hub, and a lot of military installations and industry is centered there. Also don't forget that the auto industry is centered in the Mid-west though that's becoming less relevant every year.

>only a few certain states which actually do anything.

Damn that's stupid. Where do you think all the chicken and pig parts you buy at the store come from?

Do you really believe people are listening to pop american songs than songs sang in their own language? I'm just talking pop here, if we go as far as metal, rock and roll, folk, jeez, user.
Do you really believe people are watching more american tv than their own country's tv?
Do you really believe people know mark twain more than their own literature?
Do you really believe people watch more american tv than their own country's content?
Just for the fact that english isn't their native tongue already shows how clueless you are.
As far as clothing goes, euro brands were always the norm. Gucci, Prada, Lacoste, Burberry, Louis Vitton.
Movies yes, everybody watches capeshit here and there.
Food I won't even comment at this point you're just joking.

Yes and the irrelevant states are the comfiest.

This. I'd also throw in Seattle & Atlanta.

You got California right but the east part is way off. Remove all of it except NYC. Vermont, Maine, and New Hampshire sure as hell shouldnt be circled.

>cali, new york and boston were more important than all the others combined
This right here is correct.

What do they produce? Don't worry, I'll wait.

>MIT and all the Ivy Leagues are in California
okay

>with the most representatives out of any state
California has more reps.

OP clearly measures relevance by how pozzed the region is.
