There's a lot of conspiracy surrounding this shooting, but I think they all seem to exaggerate reality in order to make it more exciting than it actually is. What if the guy was just an old, bitter, outcast? We know he was an accountant. Apparently, he was making money playing digital poker for hours on end. Not everyone can do that. Casino workers reported that he kept to himself and was sometimes rude and brusque with people. It wouldn't be unreasonable to suggest that the guy was a bit of a sperg.
Every time his brother refers to him, it's only about how rich he was. "We ate thousands of dollars of sushi." "My family can afford retirement, because he lent me the money to do so." I wouldn't be surprised if his Filipino gf was also only with him for the money. It seemed all his close relationships were founded upon money. To my knowledge, he never had any previous romantic relationships besides the Filipino one.
This paints the picture of someone who was good with numbers but not very good with people. A spergy, numbers-oriented guy who spent his entire life accruing a pile of money but without pursuit of meaningful relationships. He had no family of his own, was a loner, and had no real close relationships. No real connections. He could buy people/things with money, but never fall in love a beautiful, young girl. Maybe he was embittered by that realization, and decided to spite the world by going out in a blaze of glory. He would shoot up a venue full of young and energetic people who had relationships, and vibrant social lives, things he never had or would have. He couldn't see faces or individual people. He sat up in his suite in Mandalay Bay firing into a crowd of humanity as a rage against all the things he felt he was denied as an outsider.
