i love and hate hyperealism at the same time
it demands really fucking hard work and alot of talent from artists but at the same time there is no meaning to it. it's a form of artistic masturbation

Got any that a robot can relate to?

the title of the installation is "The Complete History of Postcontemporary Art"

I think the point of it is to present ideas that future art might explore. That isn't the whole image, but it was the best one I could find. IT's actually supposed to be a storefront with a bunch of different objects that represent different ideas (honestly though I'm not sure what all of them are). So the idea is that artists can shop from this set of ideas to furnish their work with concepts.

I have a link to a lecture which discusses the work if you want to see it.

eartly 20th century was an interesting time for art

Isn't there some question about whether or not cave paintings are a hoax?
After 37,000 years, surely a slow, inevitable trickle of water would've smoothed the stone and washed away any images.

I only like these two (1/2)

The Consummation by Thomas Cole

part of a series of paintings detailing the fate of any great empire

I look at it to remind myself that right now, these are "the good times" and we are fortunate enough to be living during the best period of the cycle
