Jow Forums used to be like. People typed in a very aggressive tone, but all-the-while they were posting legitimate arguments/counter-arguments and doing actual in-depth research so they could best shit on someone by dismantling their argument, even if they didn't believe the other person was wrong. It was fantastic.

I don't want my friends to have a shallow relationship with me, so I'd rather them have only me or a few other close friends. The main thing is that I think I wouldn't like them if it were just them without their friends around to make them all seem more interesting. As a group you can see them have lots of fun, but if they were split up it might get more awkward.
