he quit because he was like you, logged like 4k hours before starting college. but recently he's started playing again bc he's trying to quit smoking and it helps him get his mind off it. he's past the point of getting addicted to it, if that's why you're saying it's bad. and I'm not really worried abouy getting addicted myself.

the game looks clustered and dull to me fren. League was colorful and the map was smaller i believe with less mechanics.

the league community seems a lot more immature and toxic to me. I'm scared to play it because I'm already not naturally good at vidya and the moment i go on mic i know I'll be ripped to shreds

Constant Valve product pushing (even more so than it used to be), new heroes are shit, old mechanics have been changed, map layout has been changed.
Maybe I'm just too attached to old DOTA, but I would still not waste my time with it. There's no doubt better things your boyfriend can do to distract himself from nicotine, but if he can't find something to distract himself from it, then fuck it. DOTA 2 it is I guess.

You're going to be ripped to shreds more on DOTA 2. Valve does not enforce punishments for toxic players (unless they're toxicity is affecting gameplay, like intentional feeding). People who scream on the mic or in text are rarely punished, even by filed reports against them because no one reports it.
Riot on the other hand is extremely strict when it comes to this, which has led to an obvious decrease in such behavior.

League to be honest. I played it for a short time after DOTA 2 went to shit and it seemed to be an improvement.
Heroes of the Storm or Heroes of Newark are the other big two. HotS was alright, can't speak for HoN.

Not that guy, but I played LoL from 2011-2016.
It's not good anymore, just boring and bland. Its glory days were in the early years (2010-2012).
