stay away from drugs and junkies
try to stay clean
utilize libraries and other public spaces to look for work
don't stay out too long, the longer a stretch of homelessness lasts, the harder it can be to get out of it

do what i did and sign up for a waitlist to a shelter

How stupid are you that you're going to end up homeless? One of the easiest things in the world is to simply not be homeless.

not familiar with OP's situation, but if your income stream ends and you can't make rent then you're homeless.
The problem is the people who make a life style out of it or are too possessed by addiction or mental illness to get back into society

Proper homeless or sleeping out of a car? If it's the former, do you have the ability to get enough cash to buy an extremely shitty beater SUV?

Find a fucking place to live. What else are you supposed to do.

if you have no shelter/roof to sleep under and end up on the street itself do so somewhere well lit with others around
keep track of your possessions, and be wary of others who don't seem trust worthy

I stayed in a shelter before too, it wasn't bad.
There are two kinds of shelters, shelters with strict sobriety rules and emergency mat programs.
Try and get hooked up with a social worker from United Way or similar, OP, you could get put in housing and on neetbux that way.

that is actually informative. can you tell me more about this? i've never been to a shelter before, are you allowed to bring a bunch of stuff with you? why did you stay there? also will they help me with housing/neetbux if i stopped going to the psychiatrist or will they make me go again before they help me?

Assuming you have a car then I'd say live in that for a while. Get a job and save up, don't run into druggies while you're at it. Once you got enough dough, I'd suggest finding a place to rent or try to find/be a roommate. Good luck, OP.

They will check your belongings into a plastic tote when you enter but generally they won't allow you to have too heavy of a bag.
Neetbux and social housing depends on the government regulations where you live and the bureaucrat dealing with your case, but having a social worker advocating for you helps a lot because they will make sure you are treated fairly.

If it was me I'd pick a spot in the country I always wanted to see and just start walking there. Maybe I'd start an instagram or something and document the trip. Either I die along the way or have a real adventure. I don't see the point of just hanging around the same place doing homeless bum things.
