I am so I'm slightly left, but still rather statist, because I too want ecological regulations and pro-social policies.
I don't think gays should have any more rights (or less) than an average person. I don't think gay marriage is something a state should recognize though; leaving it up to the individual churches to decide whether a marriage is valid to them, and if not maybe another one would. I fundamentally disagree with forcing a church to accept gay marriage, and I wouldn't trust a church that willingly folds to it easily--I see it as rather neglectful and telling of their faith. Do they actually want to save souls? If they truly believe their doctrine (in christianity, this is) they should appose it, and if they don't they either aren't a principled church, or doesn't care about the souls they are sending to burn in hell.
I don't believe in any religion, but I think it's practical purpose in society ought to be respected and preserved.
