I was a Royal Marine, so not directly applicable.

Being a marine is fine, but that's all you'll ever be unless you get out. It's hard on your family, friends will become distant and you won't know what a normal life is.

I just called the recruiter the other day, but I've been a lot of research I think this is something I really want.

My suggestion is Navy with a job that does what you want (either goes on a ship or doesn't). Air force would be best if you could select your job but sadly you can't, army and marines should never be considered. Score well on the ASVAB and go navy intel
