I went in Reddit once and I'm an expert in my field. I helpfully dropped some knowledge on some kid who asked some questions on a subreddit. my answer was perfectly valid and very helpful. The mod deleted it and banned me because it wasn't "within the subreddit rules".

I used to. It gets very stale very quickly. It can be good for gathering info on specific topics though, hence the thousands of subreddits. But I would never just generally browse it, since about 90% is concentrated cancer

Smaller subreddits are generally worth visiting.
Specific game subreddits are a better place to discuss those games than /v/ or /vg/ but that's not saying much.
Any subreddit with more than 10k subscribers is mostly shit.
Just like Jow Forums though it's worse than it used to be and getting worse all the time.

I use it to get specific information. Reddit and Quora have become better versions of what Yahoo Answers was, except there are some extremely detailed and cited explanations. I wouldn't say I enjoy it. I feel like most users on the site are desperate for upvotes, so they make shitty puns and jokes that have little to do with the subreddit. If you try to criticize that faggetry you are most likely going to be banned and the attention whore behavior continues.

Reddit is perfect for finding information on non controversial subjects. Like for example, if I really wanted a place to discuss gardening, r/gardening would probably be one of the best places on the internet to do so. If you want humor, banter or honest opinions on anything even remotely divisive, look elsewhere.
