I agree with but if I'm making a joke I usually say soda because it sounds more funny. I think it's because you can put different kinds of emphasis on multiple syllables, but all you can really do with pop is say it louder.

Only fresh spring water. Tap water contains trace hormones and is fluoridated, bottled water is just tap water from a different place put into a plastic or glass bottle, the former of which bleeds into the water as well.

I am from the midwest, Chicago to be exact. And never have cared. Pop is said more, soda is said every now and then, it just seems southern
