Generally a mix, at first there should be a lot of talking and communication, but if you get to know each other sexually really well you'll need less verbal communication.

The fact of the matter is, movies always portray sex between two people who are "meant" to be together as completely smooth and fluid with no talking necessary, no awkward moments like bumping your teeth together, et cetera -- but the truth is, real sex isn't like that, especially when you're fairly new to each other.
