What do you guys think about the fight for $15?

I think it's doomed to fail, frankly.
Minimum wage is a meme, we need tax reform
Its going to raise the cost of living massively and out a lot of people out of a job.
Here in canada i guess the equivalent would be the tussle for 20
I'm a manager at a distributor and our entry level Merchandisers make that and their jobs are alot harder than flipping burgers. It'll fuck up the middle class by basically taking out poor people and making everyone not making a shit ton of money poor
Why does minimum wage exist in the first place? sounds commie
Still full of people that failed high school economics
These are the kinds of people who thinks banning guns will somehow stop rampage killings.
They're very uneducated on what they're trying to argue and short sighted
Protests are a waste of time and don't do shit.
The solution to that is instead of fight for 15 we put lots of low income section 8 housing everywhere.
Literally doesn't answer my question, retard
It's retarded. Your time isn't worth more just because someone passed a law saying it does.
it's directly counterproductive towards its stated goals, as both theory and evidence indicate:

How about we don't turn perfectly fine neighborhoods into crime-riddled ghettos
Not everyone who's poor is black, faggot.
>raise minimun wage
>raise price of everything accordingly
>minimun wage still as poor
>everyone else poorer except the already rich
>people stop doing jobs that actually provide society of something to flip burgers
>society collapses
if anything, the minimun wage is too high already
>minimun wage is too high already
I said poorfags only, retard
You will enjoy it at first until inflation catches (quicker than ever) up to you. You will also have the problem of getting fired or not getting hired at all as automation becomes cheaper than paying you guys (let's be completely honest here) more than you're worth.
I plan to work as a server at a restaurant, not at some low end job like mcdonalds lol.
"what do you guys think or (subject)? (people who agree with me) only. wow i wonder what kind of answers you'll get then dumb nigger
>reee everyone I don't like is a nigger
Fuck off retard.
i can tell youre a nigger because of 3 reason
1: you're poor as most niggers are
2: you're extremely stupid and niggers do have vastly lower iq's than humans
3: you're completely uninterested in the side effects of raising minimum wage and you're only interested in your own selfish gain
Automation is going to put people out of work regardless of what the human wage is. It's cheaper to pay a maintenance guy to service the machinery, and robots don't need legally mandated breaks or benefits.
If you put more money into the lower tax brackets it increases the demand for goods and services, broadening the consumer base and increasing the velocity of money. Instead, we keep kicking out the ladder so that we can widen the gulf.
tryhard faggot nigger
now that you've shown your intellectual side i've decided to give up. you're just too smart for me.
I may act like a nigger, but I was born a different race. Stop taking racial statistical averages as "fact" when I don't even fit my group's intellectual and financial success.
He didn't say anything about black u racist
>stop taking stats as facts
this is why you work a minimum wage job
"""different race"""
ok spic you can stop bumping your own thread now or atleast remember to sage
I think we need a maximum wage
>. Stop taking racial statistical averages as "fact"
ahahhahhahahahha, what? Oh lordy, this is why I will never support government programs to help poor people, even though I am consider poor myself.
Not a spic either, you'll probably have to take a few more guesses to figure out what I am.
Doesnt matter, you're not human if you're not white. now stop bumping yourself faggot
Also this isn't Jow Forums your sage literally does not do anything.
IM GONNA KEEP BUMPING EVERYTIME YOU REPLY TO ME FAGGOT BUMP BUMP BUMPEERONO

!! you're gonna make me upset!!!
A minimum wage is a type of "price floor" - the minimum price you can sell your product for (you can't sell it for lower). For minimum wage, the product whose price is being restricted is low-skilled labor (any labor whose market price is less than the price floor), and the people selling that labor are low-skilled workers.
So what happens when set a price floor on a product? The supply of that product goes up (more people find it profitable to sell the product at the new, higher price), and the demand for that product goes down (less people find it profitable to buy the product at the new, higher price). This creates a surplus of the product, which (in a free market) would cause prices to go down as suppliers drop their prices to get rid of the surplus.
All the new suppliers of low-skilled labor in the market can be broken down into 2 distinct groups. The first group consists of lazy people who'd rather sit around leeching off of their parents than find a low-skilled job. They subconsciously value their "leisure time" at a price somewhere between the old labor price and the new one, so working before would've been unprofitable, but now it's profitable. The second group consists of people who, instead of abandoning a couch-ridden lifestyle to sell their labor, are abandoning actual productive pursuits that were worth somewhere between the old labor price and the new one. Some examples include people who decide to abandon post-secondary education or developing their business idea because the low-skilled labor market suddenly became more lucrative. If the minimum wage was raised to $100, who'd want to go through four years of university, or risk starting a business, when you could just get a low-skilled job?
The first group won't affect the market too much, as they are mostly worse than the people already in the market. However, the second group definitely will affect the market, as they are mostly better than the people already in the market. This group will be made up of people like middle class white students in university, and will replace low-income, low-skilled people in poverty as employers' first choices to hire. This hurts not just the low-skilled people, but also the people in the second group, as they are losing actual valuable investment into their own careers for something the government is artificially inflating (min wage). This also hurts society, as resources are suddenly allocated to places they shouldn't be. Someone who could be studying/creating a start up is now working at McDonalds.
ALSO I'd like to point out that the companies that'd raise their prices to account for the min wage increase (places that employ a lot of low-skilled-workers) tend to be ones that poor people shop at/visit. Higher end stores have more skilled labor, so their prices are less affected.
There is no reason for ANY minimum wage to be established - it hurts the poor. Companies aren't people, so while they may be 'hurt' by a raise in min wage, look at the individual people within them. The rich CEOs aren't affected, the POOR are.
There's NOONE who wins with a min wage increase - not even the people who get a raise - since they'll stay in their shitty job for longer when they should be moving on/ investing in themselves.
If you really want to help the poor, create charities.
Companies should have a say and set up incentives for good employees. But should not be forced to pay to much if they don't want to. They should pay well. Employees also need to stop being fuck asses and thinking min wage jobs are only jobs possible lazyfags.
I live in California, specifically San Fransisco. Most minimum wages are already worth 15$ or higher, even retail. That is because Californians are worth more than fly-over states.
Sounds good to me.
I make $20 per hour for skilled labor, so if unskilled losers get increased to $15 per hour, I'll be going to my boss expecting a big bump as well.
lol good luck with that
in reality it's going to be like said, you might as well go flip burgers yourself and make the same money
Still not gonna make me want to work
t. NEET
>lol good luck with that
Don't need any luck. No one with the qualifications needed to do my job (which is entry level) is going to do it for slightly better payrate as a McDonalds burger flipper.
Honestly id rather have better working conditions and treatment of employees.
Id work for less if i had proper breaks, lunches, and management that knew what they are doing and treated me like a human
>tfw work 8-9 hour days with 0 breaks fast paced as fuck
It's all the same. The reason people are poor is because they don't know how to manage wealth. It's as simple as that
its retarded. we shouldn't focus on putting a minimum on the amount of money someone should make, we should put a maximum on it. just look at marriage, it used to be that a guy could only marry and fuck one woman, but now since there is no limit to how many he can fuck, 20% of them get 80% of the women. it should be the same with money, you should only be allowed to have as much as you need, not an excess amount. we need distributism
My job isn't worth what they pay me.
The problem with raising the minimum wage is that it will making working conditions even worse. Less benefits and less staff. Imagine going to McDonalds and there's only 2 or 3 people working on the floor. Can't afford to have a team of 6 people . Slow service and angry customers. Also means lower scores for health inspections because there's no way 2 people can manage to keep the store clean while dealing with 50 customers at once.
If you're retarded enough to become a waggie you probably deserve less than 10 dollars and hour.
>mcdonalds (a 100 billion dollar corporation) can't afford to give employees a 5 dollar raise
the only people who will be affected are small businesses
>need job
>have to take a minimum wage job to save up to get better job
Not everyone drops out of highschool early to attend univeristy and start on a $14/hr job by the age of 20/22.
It depends the location of the McDonalds. Stores with high sales get more employees. Stores with low sales get less employees. McDonalds maybe a rich company, but not every store is going to fully staffed.
I'd rather a cut down in hours (which would obviously have to coincide with wage increase anyway)
4-6 hours should be a normal shift, 8+ is ridiculous
Right now I'm making $0 because I have no fucking job. I assume this is the problem with most poorfags.
