>265 hours in Warband

good thing about warband is that you do what you want

I've never made my own country either, I much prefer to join an existing lords army as a normal soldier (you can do this with mods) and let things play out on the campaign map by the AIs decisions

Attached: 20180311223323_1.jpg (1920x1080, 732K)

yeah mate pretty good, you?

except the ai is retarded and you end up fighting 5 looters with 500 trained soldiers

got any more screenshots?

This.
I had a 500+ stong man at arms army.
A handful of bandits decided to mug me and charged headlong into 500 men and lasted all of 3 seconds.

The AI in that is beyond dumb.

maybe because I play with mods but I've not once had bandits try me when I clearly had the superior force. they just run away the second I get anywhere near them

Where the fuck are all the bandits? Who am I supposed to fight? Should I just do delivery quests for lords until I can become a vassal?

Never do courier quests, if they ask you to wipe out bandit lairs or collect tax then do that. Also try to do quests for the king since he has larger holds and towns which means a bigger cut when dealing with tax. Another economical method is to buy iron from Curaw if you're playing vanilla and sell it almost anywhere else.

It's such a comfy game. Is it possible to do more battle strategies in it? I'd love to be able to pull off maneuvers and stuff, and have it be better than just charging straight at them. What mods are best for an armchair general?

what mods? I really like the sound of that. I did it once in gekokujo

If you want to evolve from straight out pitch battles you could do what I do:
>infantry at the front, will make the initial charge
>archers behind infantry on elevated ground
>after infantry has made contact take cavalry with follow me command and charge the flanks.
After that I let them loose for a charge and I pick off stragglers myself.

Always thought the game was interesting, but I'm a poorfag who can't even spend a dozen buckaroos.
How does it work?

1257AD & Floris Evolved

I also like The Last Days but it doesn't have the freelancer mod built into it

Attached: 2016-02-15_00002.jpg (1920x1080, 429K)

I tend to do the same thing. But I'd love it if you could do more in depth strategies.

Like what? Viking Conquest has more formations like shield wall but I feel like they're sorta broken.

Medieval sandbox simulator that's easy to get into. I'd recommend with all my heart with hundreds of hours played.

Nothing in particular. I just wish that you could come up with more than "charge straight at them." It feels like there's so little to do when you're actually on the battlefield. Moving units around would be a lot more fun than running around in circles on a horse. Imagine pulling off a Cannae.

youtube.com/watch?v=MroGPObEZzk

>all those retarded unit names in floris mod
Where did they even come up with this shit?

Well, you can, but it'll never be as effective as the standard infantry-archers lines that everyone uses.

Maybe in Bannerlord, friend.

>Maybe in Bannerlord, friend.
Will I even be alive when they release it?

I'll send my robot butler to check on you when they release it

Graveth holds too many feasts, I am trying to conquer.

Please do, considering it has been 6 years since it was announced.

light and darkness 2 when??????????

Holy fuck you're not kidding

He's been good to me though. Gave me Praven & veluca which are both high income sources

Attached: 1523462141355.jpg (640x480, 77K)

Is it possible to make a phalanx?

Maybe next sale, dear user, maybe next sale.

Worst of them all in my humble opinion due to firearms making armour redundant.

You won't regret it my friend, give me your steam and I'll add you later.

I had a game where my own kingdom was in control over more than half the map. Lost everything after my laptop died though. Now when I play singleplayer it's only to slaughter peasants.

I burnt out on M&B and mods a few years ago. A damn shame, those were fun times.

In terms of putting men with spears into a box shape, yes.

But it's almost harvesting season!

Attached: 1352281510_0-825x510.jpg (825x510, 106K)

I hate how eventually you have no choice but to restart the game because very bandit gang is 5x faster than you and 400 men strong (and growing). How do I fix this? I want to be able to participate in war without being guaranteed to have to restart the game by the first lost battle.

if anything, it makes it even more important.

I wish i could play this game legitimately, but I always end up getting bored and enabling cheats, so I can amass a massive army and have huge battles, I think I'm gonna try a legit play through right now.

Couldn't finish taking over the continent because my save file corrupted. Only managed to take two countries.

Just pirate it. If they hadn't pulled the barely-changed unplayable-at-release reboxing that was warbands, I would totally have supported people buying it, but their unscrupulous business practices make me recommend another approach.

Nothing like pacing just a tad faster than unmounted units and plugging their faces with arrows.

Harvesting season indeed, but not in the way you imagined it, vile beggar.

Hardly, I was shot while wearing a breastplate and my health was reduced to nearly empty.

yeah and you would've been dead without it

floris for the troop trees

Literally what

That has never happened to me ever

See that's the thing, if I wear a mail hauberk in Warband I can take a good few hits before going down while in F&S I get shot and if I'm lucky I'm still standing.

>playing fire and sword

>I have literally never played the game
What's the point of your post?

that's why you stack on the armor. if it bothers you that much, you can lower the damage

My point is that you're dumb and also git gud

Attached: lol.jpg (188x83, 7K)

>reality doesn't real because I can look for a steam playtime image on google images

I don't, the other guy does if you read through our conversation. I was just explaining how I feel that firearms ruin the game.

I think he's playing Floris, that's where you get literally armies of bandits chasing you.
Fuckers sometime can even defeat a king's party.

In case you're worried, these screenshots require literally no effort whatsoever

stupid faggot lol

Attached: retard.jpg (1005x635, 165K)

Not him but come on man, there's no need for hostility.

That's pretty much just a straight charge without being retarded .... that's not strategy

Why are you so insistent on claiming that you rewrote the game from scratch so you could avoid core mechanics of the game, what do you gain from making composite pictures in ms paint to pretend you're an expert on a subject you obviously haven't even broached for 5 seconds?

Fair enough, I was just explaining my usual attack plan.

Anyone else notice that goods get progressively cheaper in villages the longer you play? In Viking Conquest I've seen wool go as cheap as 30 pennings.

Attached: 5cadcd2afef8cc0aad2646cf66ffde9d.jpg (1280x800, 124K)

prices are dynamic based on in-game trade between settlements, and your trade stats of course

Attached: 20180312002728_1.jpg (1920x1080, 563K)

Yeah but the villages can't be doing that well? I sailed from Ireland to isle of man where I worked my way up through England to Scotland and the majority of villages were selling produce dirt cheap. I even went as far as Norway to buy tar for cheap. Made like a 3000 penning profit when I got back to Ireland.

Attached: game_screenshot_e589760cbd95c357f0fb7080e9bf6c9c.jpg (1920x1080, 457K)

villages will do better if they're in "safe" zones, i.e aren't on the borders with rival factions or being raided by bandits

Also it'll vary by item, if there's plenty of it it'll sell for cheap. If it's rare, in the area, prices go up

I think it's related to how much horrible rape you've done to other armies recently. It sort of makes sense - they don't have any idea who you are or whether you're in the area, they see some rich-looking horsemen, and oh fuck those horsemen were your army's scouts and now 500 dudes are pincushioning them with throwing axes and vaegir arrows.

I suppose, being a trader in that game with a small group of well trained bodyguards is comfy as fuck.

Halp me friendorinos

>got hasty and stupidly established my country on Shariz
>surrounding villages hate me because of past raids so no recruits for me
>to top that, I'm at war with the Rhodocucks and Sarraniggers, that hate me and keep raiding my villages like lunatics
>already so far on the game I don't want to start over

I'm literally mentally REEing about this now.

Shit havent play vanilla in like 5 years

Attached: 4b1.png (1162x850, 89K)

Ive been playing red wars mod recently. Took over all of China recently, supplanting it with the Republic of Rhodesia.
Something special about mowing down a bunch of chinks from horseback with a machine gun

Attached: 1524713976644.jpg (1000x1000, 221K)

>red wars
>china
i thought red wars had calradia as setting?

It is, but I can't think of their name in calderia, but they're literally supposed to be the communist chinese

Why hasn't some other non-lazy non-T*rk studio seen the niche potential and developed an M&B knock-off yet i wonder

Knockoffs rarely have any market (first mover advantage), unless they are first-to-market (e.g. minecraft vs infiniminer).
Typically, successful niche games like m&b are quite simply dumb luck and weren't created to any effort to target a specific demographic, or based on sales studies, or through focus group surveys. People also don't go "this is going to be the greatest game ever" but either aim to make a dumb game because they can, or a good game they'd like to play for their own sake.
