The ground is fucking uncomfortable.
There's no way they're really enjoying themselves. I think they think, "I'm the sort of person who goes to the park and sits on a blanket and loves it!" so they do this to fulfill the image they have of themselves. But without at least a chair-in-a-bag or something, sitting on the ground sucks so there's no way they're actually enjoying it.

Laying on grass and dirt isn't that uncomfortable from my experience but I'm used to sitting on stoops so I might not be the best gauge.

This. When I was a cyborg who lived on the edges of society, going out with friends and sitting on the grass sucked ass. The ground is cold and sometimes soggy or muddy, bugs crawl up on you, sometimes it's smelly as well at times, and overall it's just an uncomfortable experience. There's no way normies actually enjoy it. It's infinitely more comfortable just resting in bed.
Then again who knows. Normies are sadistic dumb pieces of shit that enjoy eating out roast beef vaginas that 100 other dudes jizzed in. So maybe they do actually enjoy it.
