Will i ever be able to be the person I was before social anxiety came along?
I managed to turn it around. I'm not quite the person I used to be but I'm pretty happy with who I am now.
I was just wondering the same thing bro, I think we have to recondition ourselves to social situations
how?
originl
No, it was puberty. Welcome to adulthood.
In all honesty you'll probably struggle with that anxiety for the rest of your life. It has a later onset than other disorders, but once it happens you're never the same.
fuck sake this is a disaster
go on the internet less, your standards have gone too low, ((this should be said for anyone on the internet rly))
I wish I had better news for you. Maybe someday there will be a real treatment for it. One can hope.
my standards?
Went to a middle of the road university and joined the army reserve. Got fit and started taking care of myself.
Still have no friends, but it doesn't bother me as much as it used to.
what's the main source of your anxienty and why, any backstory? i can try listen if i can't help
how much do you browse Jow Forums i mean?
>I've always been this way
everyday quite a lot
i dunno i've had it a long time now, fear of humiliating myself or looking stupid i guess
I wouldn't want to be the person I was again. Social anxiety is a bitch, but if rather cope with that than be the insufferable speech I was before being bullied.
ok, first of all very important, hear me right because im not saying it again, TAKE A SHOWER AND GO OUTSIDE
Get off antidepressants, self-medicate with weed and/or Benzo's & see a therapist
Exposure to more things that give you anxiety will make it better. I know you don't want to hear that but it's true, I've got anxiety but I've been having to do several presentations in my classes this year. I still shake and stumble on my words and make myself look like a fool, but i can tell it's gotten a bit better than it was before.
No, but you can become comfier. You can also find people with whom you share deeper bonds. You might not, but you totally could.
But you have to try.
Yes, but can you keep it up? It takes a lot of effort to do that, and most of the time people relapse. There is no cure for anxiety disorders.
No you wont
Dont think you can change it. If you do, you're only one embarrassment away from anxiety
I dont know if i can keep it up. Probably not, but i think i should still try to. It's like a self fulfilling prophecy. If you say it'll never get better, then it never will. But if you genuinely try to make it better, maybe you'll never reach your ideal state, but the active process of trying to not succumb to it completely will make it at least a little better than it would be if you just choose to wallow in your own anxiety.
